Filter by:Patients with a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) may develop long-term symptoms, e.g. lifelong leg pain, skin changes and occasionally ulceration, known as post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). This affects about half of people with a history of DVT. This randomised study aims to show whether the regular use of a compression stocking after DVT in the leg, prevents long-term pain, swelling and ulceration. Currently small trials show varied results and a large trial is required to answer the question.
Primary objective of the study is to establish the incidence of all any catheter related complications in BIP CVC and standard CVC groups in patients requiring CVC. (CVC - Central Venous Catheter; BIP - Bactiguard Infection Protection)
Hospitalized patients are at risk of developing blood clots in the legs (Deep Vein Thrombosis or DVT), which can lead to death if those clots break off and migrate to the lungs. We know that if there is a blood clot in the large leg veins near the hips and in the thighs, treating these patients with high-doses of blood thinners reduces the risk of these deaths. It is unclear if treating blood clots in the calf with high doses of blood thinners is better than using low doses. In this study, after being diagnosed with a blood clot in the calf, patients will be treated with either low dose or high dose enoxaparin (Lovenox), a blood thinner. We will then see if low dose blood thinner has similar results as high dose blood thinner.

This research study is studying a drug as a possible treatment for heparin induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) or Heparin-induced Thrombocytopenia and Thrombosis (HITT). The drug involved in this study is apixaban.
The primary objective is to evaluate whether apixaban is more effective in treating patients with isolated calf vein thrombosis (DVT) than serial imaging of the DVT for preventing thrombus spread, pulmonary embolism (PE) and/or recurring DVTs.
The Researchers are studying whether a vascular boot warming program plus standard of care anticoagulation can be a safe and effective method to resolve Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) ±Pulmonary Embolism (PE) earlier and prevent development of post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). Additionally, to learn whether a more detailed imaging of the affected lower extremities will provide a more accurate and reliable method to guide treatment for this condition.
