Pulse Oximetry Accuracy by Skin Color

Start date: June 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a prospective, non-randomized, non-blinded comparative study to evaluate the accuracy of pulse oximetry compared to co-oximetry in dark-skinned (Black) compared to lighter-skinned (White) children undergoing anesthesia, using standard FDA performance statistics as measured by mean bias and accuracy root mean squared to evaluate device performance.

NCT ID: NCT05690633 Enrolling by invitation - Surgery Clinical Trials

Feasibility of Obtaining Pulse Oximetry Readings From the Oropharynx

Start date: January 9, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a prospective study to evaluate the feasibility of obtaining a pulse oximetry ready from the oropharynx with a standard oximeter probe that has been attached to an oral airway or a tongue blade. The study will compare the values from the peripheral pulse oximeter on a finger, toe, foot or hand with the that from the oropharyngeal oximeter. The study will also compare the saturation from an arterial blood gas (ABG) collected as standard of care with that obtained from the oropharyngeal oximeter.

NCT ID: NCT05688722 Completed - Surgery Clinical Trials

Head Elevation During Pre-oxygenation Can Delay Desaturation Time

Start date: April 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is a randomized-controlled trial study comparing the association between several degree of head elevation and conventional position during pre-oxygenation to desaturation time in patients undergo endotracheal intubation with general anesthesia

NCT ID: NCT05687253 Completed - Surgery Clinical Trials

Evaluation of Intubation Conditions Following BX1000 or Rocuronium in Subjects Undergoing Surgery

Start date: October 25, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Assessment of Intubation conditions following administration of neuromuscular blocking agents; BX1000 (investigational) or rocuronium (active control).

NCT ID: NCT05684913 Completed - Surgery Clinical Trials

The Effects of Zn-containing Granulate on Patient Morbidity and Wound Healing After Free Gingival Graft Surgery

Start date: March 20, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

There is no study in the literature showing the effects of Zn on wound healing after free gingival graft (FGG) operation. The aim of this randomized clinical study was to compare the early healing results of the palatal wound after FGG harvesting by sterile hemostatic agent suturing or the use of surgical stent from thermoplastic Zn-containing granules which was prepared chairside.

NCT ID: NCT05684549 Recruiting - Surgery Clinical Trials

Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19) and Radical Surgery in Patients With Early-stage Lung Cancer

COVIDLungSurg
Start date: January 11, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this observational study is to learn about the effects of coronavirus infection in patients with early-stage lung cancer. The main question it aims to answer is whether the interval of surgery and COVID-19 infection will affect the surgery and prognosis of the patients.

NCT ID: NCT05683483 Recruiting - Surgery Clinical Trials

WEsleep Trial: Improving Sleep in Hospitalized Patients

WEsleep
Start date: April 11, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In the WEsleep study, the investigators will perform a cluster randomized controlled trial. 3 surgical and 3 medical departments will be randomized to implement low-cost and simple interventions aimed at improving sleep in admitted patients. Another 3 surgical and 3 medical departments will be randomized to function as control groups. Subjective sleep quality and sleep-wake timing will be assessed in adult medical and surgical patients admitted into one of 12 participating wards, using questionnaires and a sleep diary. In addition, in a subset of participants, objective sleep measures will be assessed in with an EEG headband and a sleep mat.

NCT ID: NCT05677815 Recruiting - COVID-19 Clinical Trials

The Effect of COVID-19 Infection on Post-operative Complications

Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

We did an multi-centre, observational cohort study in patients who had surgery in 2023. We included participants who underwent surgery after the COVID-19 to lift the lockdown in China. Patients meeting the same criteria were eligible who had been treated during the same calendar period of 2019 through 2021. The primary outcomes were the post-operative in-hospital complications. We hypothesized that the post-operative in-hospital complications during the COVID-19 to lift the lockdown period in China were different to complications for the same kind of patients during the same calendar period of the previous years.

NCT ID: NCT05674097 Completed - Surgery Clinical Trials

Blood Flow Path Reconstruction in Rectal Cancer

Start date: June 8, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

89 patients with distal sigmoid and rectal cancer were referred in our observation and underwent MS-CTA between June 2020 and March 2022. We classified the distribution of LCA and confirmed whether there exists AMCA (accessory middle colic artery). Then we planned blood flow path based on the classification of LCA branches before operation. High ligation was applied in regular radical surgery. During operation, we carefully protect the bifurcation of ascending and descending LCA. Then we compared the planned blood flow path with the actual postoperative blood flow path to verify the mechanism we proposed previously.

NCT ID: NCT05670756 Enrolling by invitation - Surgery Clinical Trials

Preoperative Survey to Evaluate Patient Allergy

Start date: May 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The study will only involve identification of the listed allergies from the electronic medical record and investigation into the symptoms that prompted this allergy listing. The purpose is to evaluate demographics and prevalence of allergies in patients presenting for surgery, evaluate the medical decision making process behind allergy identification, and determine its potential impact on perioperative care. The participants will be asked to complete a survey in REDCap using an iPad during the visit.
