The primary research objective is to examine how uncertainty towards a new medical treatment changes in patients when a partner (can be any close other, i.e. romantic partner, family member, or a close friend) supports the new treatment choice and is willing to be involved in the patient's treatment. I hypothesize that when the patients know that their partner supports uptake of the new medical treatment and will physically accompany them to the visit, patients will (1) experience lower levels of uncertainty and (2) report a higher likelihood of participating in a new treatment in the future, as compared to patients who face the decision about the new treatment alone.
This is a prospective cohort study with multicenter retrospective data collection (CHR Metz-Thionville, Hôpital Mercy and Hôpital Bel Air). Patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in a critical care unit between March 2020 and March 2022 will be contacted by telephone 24 months after their hospitalization by a doctor or intern from the intensive care unit. If the patient agrees to participate, he or she will then complete the study questionnaire items. Data concerning their hospital management between their hospitalization for COVID-19 and the 24-month call will then be extracted from their medical records.
The objective of this study is to make a massive suicide risk and social behavior assessment in 24 pre-graduate education centers in Mexico City (approximately 30,000 students aged between 15 and 22 years), taking also into account other outcomes such as depression, anxiety, alcohol and drugs. For this, an app for Smartphone (MeMind) or a web platform (www.MeMind.net) will be used in which the participants will take a self-administered questionnaire, composed of several psychometric instruments. Our main hypothesis is that identification of suicide risk in the Mexico City's student community is feasible using their own smartphones and can serve as both a population screening tool for early specialist referral, as well as a tool for evaluating social behavior strategies and their relation to suicide behavior.
The aim of the present study is to examine whether the neuropeptide oxytocin (OXT) influences social reward processing and whether the effects are context- and sex-dependent.
This study evaluates the efficacy of using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) technology for enhancing language development in children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Half of the participants will receive AAC technology with their speech and language therapy and half will continue with their usual care models.
This study is designed to document the loss of sociomoral emotions (like empathy, guilt, and embarrassment) in patients with behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia. The loss of these emotions, which function as the motivators for social behavior, will manifest in specific interpersonal behaviors. These behaviors will correlate with regional changes in regional changes in medial frontal and anterior temporal lobes. These social and emotional changes will be compared with a young-onset Alzheimer's disease comparison group.
