Preventing Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy With Acupuncture (PACT Trial) - PACT

Preventing Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy With Acupuncture, A Randomized Controlled Trial (PACT Trial)

This research is being done to determine whether acupuncture can help prevent or lessen chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), a side effect of some kinds of chemotherapy that causes pain, numbness, tingling, swelling, or muscle weakness mostly in the hands or feet. This research will also help determine whether acupuncture can improve quality of life in patients receiving taxane-based chemotherapy for the treatment of breast cancer. The names of the study activities involved in this study are/is: - Acupuncture treatments for participants in the Acupuncture Group - Nature videos with a relaxation exercise for participants in the Relaxation/ Exercise Group The Comprehensive and Integrative Medicine Institute (CIMI) of South Korea is supporting this research study by providing funding.

Intradermal Acupuncture Based on Changes in Biological Specificity of Acupoints for Major Depressive Disorder

Intradermal Acupuncture Based on Changes in Biological Specificity of Acupoints for Major Depressive Disorder: a Prospective, Multicentre, Randomized, Controlled Trial

Acupoints are the stimulus points and reactive points for acupuncture to treat diseases. Therefore, this study is designed to detect the pain threshold and temperature of biological specificities of acupoints in healthy control (HC) participants and major depressive disorder (MDD) participants by using pressure pain threshold gauge (PTG) and infrared thermography (IRT). Based on the results of the PTG and IRT tests, the potentially superior acupoints for the treatment of MDD will be selected separately. Then, different acupoint groups selected based on different biological specificities tests will be used for clinical treatment to evaluate the clinical efficacy of intradermal acupuncture (IA) for MDD based on changes in the biological specificities of acupoints.

The Effect of Acupuncture on Patients With Noise-induced Hearing Loss

The Effect of Acupuncture on Patients With Noise-induced Hearing Loss -- Randomized, Single-blinded, Controlled Prospective Clinical Trial

In an era of advanced industry and commerce, working in a noisy environment is one of the most important risk factors for hearing damage, especially among young and middle-aged people. Although acupuncture has been widely used to treat otology-related diseases, such as tinnitus, dizziness, and sudden deafness, there are few studies on the effect of noise-induced hearing loss.

Feasibility and Safety of Acupuncture in the Prevention of Late Irinotecan-related Diarrhea in Pediatric Patients - AIP2021

Feasibility and Safety of the Use of Acupuncture in the Prevention of Late-onset Diarrhea Associated With Irinotecan in Pediatric Patients With Solid Tumors: Controlled Pilot Study

To evaluate the feasibility of an acupuncture protocol in the prevention of late diarrhea due to irinotecan in pediatric patients with solid tumors, a pre-post pilot study will be conducted. Pre-post pilot study non-randomized, open label, single arm study. There will be a single study group that will be used at the same time as your own control. The intervention will take place for approximately one year.

Heat and Acupuncture Randomised Controlled Trial to Manage Osteoarthritis of the Knee - HARMOKnee

Heat and Acupuncture Randomised Controlled Trial to Manage Osteoarthritis of the Knee (HARMOKnee)

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is one of the largest and fast-growing causes of pain, impaired mobility, and poor quality of life in the elderly worldwide. Despite a significant increase in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) utilisation, in particular acupuncture, as first or second-line treatment among local KOA patients, there exists a lack of high-quality evidence on its efficacy and local practice guidelines for TCM use in KOA tailored to our specific population demographic. HarmoKNEE trial aims to address these gaps by evaluating the short and medium-term clinical and cost-effectiveness of TCM acupuncture with far-infrared heat therapy in addition to standard care, compared to standard care alone. Through a robust process and economic evaluation, the investigators aim to inform evidence-based practice for KOA patients in Singapore to facilitate the large-scale implementation of a comprehensive and holistic model of care which harmonises elements from Western medicine and TCM. The investigators hypothesize that acupuncture with heat therapy as an adjunct to standard care is clinically more effective than standard care alone. This will be a multi-centre pragmatic, parallel-arm, single-blinded, effectiveness-implementation hybrid randomised control trial. KOA patients will be randomised to either the control arm (standard care only) or intervention arm (biweekly sessions of acupuncture with heat therapy over 6 weeks, in addition to standard care). A mixed-method approach through an embedded process evaluation will facilitate large scale implementation. An economic evaluation will be performed to evaluate financial sustainability
