Mind-Body Approaches for Medical Conditions

Start date: April 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Chronic diseases are currently the most prevalent and most costly health conditions world-wide, and morbidity is expected to increase over coming years. Factors such that increased life-expectancy and certain life style-related factors, such as smoking, high-fat diet and alcohol-consumption, are commonly associated with the increase in most of the common chronic diseases. However, more complex psychosocial factors such as depression, stress, work-related dynamics and thinking patterns are thought be associated with poor health status and impaired health related quality of life among patients with suffering from chronic physical conditions (i.e. a biopsychosocial approach). Therefore, psychosocial intervention has been suggested as a complementary treatment strategy for patients with chronic conditions. The aim of this randomized trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of mind-body multidisciplinary rehabilitation on health-related quality of life, and disease specific endpoints in people with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, or heart failure.

Electronic and Lab Pre-screening of New Rheumatology Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: February 28, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

By forming the foundation of a delivery system that integrates primary care (PC) and rheumatology, this initiative strives to strengthen the roles of both primary care and rheumatology practices as they co-manage patients in a quality care delivery system. Importantly, it strives to fill an unmet need, the rapid evaluation by Primary Care providers; the appropriate and timely referral of inflammatory disease patients to a rheumatologist; and the implementation of early aggressive therapy in the management of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with tight control. Given the call for improved quality, value, and demonstration of results[1], this initiative uses the tenets of National Center for Quality Assurance's Patient Centered Specialty Program[1] (PCSP) and it successfully masters and streamlines coordination of care.

Safety and Tolerability of a Single Intravenous Infusion of BX-U001 in Refractory Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: July 2023
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This is a phase 1, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, single-dose, clinical trial examining the safety and biological effects of allogeneic fresh human umbilical cord tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cell product BX-U001, given by intravenous (IV) infusion, to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with moderate to severe disease activity, who are not well controlled by their current treatments. Two doses of BX-U001 will be tested in 16 patients. The subjects will receive a one-time IV infusion of BX-U001 and monitored for 52 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT03813771 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Targeted Treatment Early With Etanercept + Methotrexate vs.T2T Care for DMARD-naïve Early RA Patients Based on naïve T-cell Stratification

TEEMS
Start date: March 2019
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The main aim of the study is to determine the clinical utility of naive T-cell stratification for rationalising treatment with methotrexate (MTX), for DMARD-naive early RA patients. Thus, it aims to determine whether TNFi therapy (Benepali) instituted as first-line therapy in DMARD-naive early RA patients with poor T-cell prognostication confers better outcomes (clinical, structural and immunological). Hence, this would enable early targeted treatment for those with a poorer prognosis based on their immunological status.

NCT ID: NCT03813017 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Comprehensive Assessment of Subclinical Atherosclerosis in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: October 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause for morbidity and mortality in general population. The incidence of cardiovascular disease and their poor outcome is well documented in a broad spectrum of connective tissue diseases, especially in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The risk of incident CVD is increased by 48% in patients with RA compared to the general population. RA is associated with 50% increase in the mortality in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD). One reason is the more frequent cardiovascular risk factors in RA patients compared with the general population. Patients with RA have a high risk of premature cardiovascular disease (CVD). The aim of the present study is to assess whether there are non-invasive measures that might predict arteriosclerosis in RA patients.

NCT ID: NCT03700021 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Response to Treatment With Intravenous Abatacept Adults With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: April 2019
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The immune system of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is different from that of people who do not have RA. The purpose of this study is to examine immune cells and proteins before subjects start to take study medication and after subjects start treatment with an approved therapy for RA, abatacept that will be given in combination with Methotrexate and/or anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDS) that are approved for the treatment of RA. This study will assess whether subjects have clinically responded to these medications. This assessment will also include a study of whether characteristics of the subject's immune system were changed by therapy with the study drug, abatacept.

Tai Chi in Rheumatoid Arthritis (TaiChiRA)

TaiChiRA
Start date: January 31, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigator's hypothesis is that tai chi sessions would increase physical activity of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The main objective is to study the effect of tai chi sessions (16 vs.0) on total physical activity of Rheumatoid Arthritis patients, compared to a control group without tai chi.

Efficacy and Safety Study of Anbainuo in Chinese Patients With RA/AS in the Real World

Start date: August 24, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

TNF- α receptor inhibitors have been used widely in practice and are well developed in China. Anbainuo is a bio-similar recombinant TNF-α receptor: IgG Fc fusion protein, approved in 2015. Up to now, Anbainuo is well applied in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Although the phase II and III clinical trials both indicated that Anbainuo can effectively control the disease activity with good tolerance and safety in RA and AS patients, there is no sufficient clinical evidence in the real world. Thus, the objective of this study is to evaluate, under the actual conditions of use, dosing patterns of Anbainuo. Investigators plan to recruit 1000 adult patients with RA or AS and to follow them for 48 weeks. It is hypothesized that this study would reflect real clinical conditions (efficacy and safety assessment) of using Anbainuo in RA and AS patients.

Study of Some Risk Factors for Developing RA

Start date: August 15, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Introduction Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a chronic autoimmune disease of unknown etiology, .If not managed early , RA can result in irreversible, painful, and disabling joint damage. RA is often diagnosed using predefined criteria that necessitate clinical, laboratory, and radiologic examinations. The prevalence of RA among adults is approximately 1-2% affecting women two to four times more often than men.Although RA risk increases with age, it can manifest at any stage of life, including childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.(1-4)( Karlson EW, Mandl LA, Hankinson SE, Grodstein F, Karlson EW, Mandl LA, Hankinson SE, Grodstein F., Karlson EW, Mandl LA, Hankinson SE, Grodstein F, Karlson EW, Mandl LA, Hankinson SE, Grodstein F) To date, a limited number of RA risk or protective factors have been identified, with genetic predisposition to autoimmune response (eg, HLA-DR4 gene) and repeated environmental exposures (eg, tobacco smoke) playing a major role.(3)(Karlson EW, Mandl LA, Hankinson SE, Grodstein F) Heritability of RA is well-established because the lifetime risk of RA and related autoimmune diseases (namely, systemic lupus erythematosus, ankylosing spondylitis, scleroderma, Sjo¨gren's syndrome, and hypothyroidism) increases 1.5 to 3 times in children of women diagnosed with RA.

Efficacy and Safety of HQGZWWT Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: October 1, 2018
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by swelling, pain, and synovial damage. Effective methods lack in the treatment of RA. A traditional prescription in use for thousands of years in China, Huang Qi Gui Zhi Wu Wu Tang(HQGZWWT)granule is still chosen to relive pain and prevent joint malformation in RA patients. However, no evidence-based medical research has been organized to assess the effectiveness and safety of HQGZWWT granules for RA.
