Filter by:The Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in at least four million infections in Norway. The vast majority of cases are diagnosed and followed up in the community, but some with extensive symptoms and large degree of reduced function are referred to regional Covid-clinics. In total this patient group is placing an enormous burden on the already over stretched health care services. As the pandemic subsides the emerging threat of long-term disability from COVID remains to be quantified. Brain fog and cognitive symptoms are common in long COVID in 30% of mild infections resulting in sick leave and loss of daily function, with women overrepresented among long COVID sufferers. The true prevalence and underlying mechanisms of long COVID remains to be quantified. Although vaccination prevents severe infection and death, we have little knowledge on how best to rehabilitate those who suffers from long COVID. Here we propose to develop knowledge on treatment interventions to counteract disability from long COVID and lessening the burden on health care services. We will conduct a study of where we compare a short group intervention with systematic personalised neurocognitive rehabilitation to document symptom alleviation. Our overarching goal is to develop effective programmes for this evolving disease to reduce the suffering for the patients, and thereby reducing costs for health services and society at large.
Objective: To verify the reliability and validity of the Turkish versions of the Hopkins Rehabilitation Engagement Rating Scale (HRERS) for knee arthroplasty. Methods: A total of 51 consecutive participants, inpatients of an orthopedic clinic at the university hospital, were recruited between 2021-2022 June. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to assess internal consistency. By evaluating the scores of 51 retested patients one week later, the test-retest reliability was determined using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to assess the construct validity.
Prehabilitation and rehabilitation through personalized lifestyle counseling in patients with breast cancer.
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of using PED (Pulmonary Expansion Device) in tracheostomized patients requiring lung reexpansion therapy within a single institution. The main question it aims to answer is: In tracheostomized patients requiring lung reexpansion therapy, does the utilization of PED (Pulmonary Expansion Device) alongside conventional management constitute a safe and effective strategy for improving oxygenation, lung volumes, and reducing postoperative pulmonary complications, as compared to traditional management alone? Researchers will compare lung expansion therapy with PED plus conventional management versus lung expansion therapy through conventional management in tracheostomized patients to assess the safety and efficacy in terms of improvement in oxygenation, lung volumes, and reduction of postoperative pulmonary complications.
In this study, it was aimed to examine the effects of kinesio tape applied to the forearm extensor muscles on the functional level of patients undergoing lower extremity surgery with walker ambulation. Patients who were evaluated before being included in the post-surgical rehabilitation program (before kinesio tape application) and before discharge will be included in the study group. For the control group data, patients who underwent lower extremity surgery at the same institution for similar periods, but were included in the standard rehabilitation program, but did not apply kinesio tape, will be included. Standard rehabilitation practice includes in-bed transfer training, gait training, practice of daily living activities, and therapeutic exercise practices . Before the standard rehabilitation program, kinesio taping was applied to both upper extremities in the form of a "Y" tape from the medial epicondyle to the wrist flexors, with 15-20% tension, to the patients hospitalized in the orthopedic service after lower extremity surgery. The tape should remain on the patient's arm throughout the hospital stay
Introduction Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory airways and is considered a Public Health problem, which lacks a personalized multidisciplinary intervention, to allow the user to develop mastery in the self-management of his disease. The project intends to answer the question: What methods could be used to enhance the use of asthma controller therapy? Methods Randomized and controlled clinical trial. The sample consists of users with asthma at Family Health Units in the municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis. There will be an experimental group that will undergo structured rehabilitation nursing consultations, and a control group that will receive the usual nursing care appropriate for asthma management. Both groups will be subject to two evaluation moments with the CARAT test and the AQLQ-M questionnaire. Results The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for people with asthma implemented within the framework of a structured rehabilitation nursing consultation. The investigators expected to observe a clinically significant improvement with regard to disease control, quality of life, and user empowerment.
In the proposed study, the investigators assumed that rhythmic-based training with immersive mirror visual feedback will provide a better treatment effects than traditional mirror therapy for the patients with unilateral stroke. The aim of the study is to examine the difference in the treatment effects among the combination of task-oriented training with either rhythmic-based training with immersive mirror visual feedback, or mirror therapy on the upper extremity function and brain activity of the stroke patients.
The investigators previously developed a virtual 14-day dual-task walking exercise program and tested its feasibility with individuals with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) history. The investigators will test the feasibility and efficacy of a mobile app-version (Uplode) of the same 14-day exercise program (Brain & Walk Exercise Every Day [BraW-Day]), on cognition, sensorimotor, and other functions in a group of voluntary young adults with an mTBI between last three months to two years, including student athletes, Veterans, and ethnic minorities.
This study was planned to investigate the effectiveness of usual care and dual task program in patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty surgery. It is aimed to evaluate pain intensity, disability level, mini mental status, coordination, reaction time and functional status of the patients. The study will be conducted with volunteer patients who are followed up by the Orthopedics and Traumatology outpatient clinic of Bursa Cekirge State Hospital and who have undergone total knee arthroplasty surgery. It is aimed to evaluate at least 26 patients for the study. The first evaluation will be performed 6 weeks post-operatively and the second evaluation will be performed 2 months after the treatment.
The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the effect of video-game on swallowing function in patients with dysphagia through a randomized controlled trial and whether it has additional benefits in improving swallowing function and training compliance compared with conventional training methods. The main questions it aims to answer are: - How effective is video-game based rehabilitation for dysphagia? - Whether video-game based has additional benefits in improving swallowing function and training compliance compared with conventional training methods Participants will be divided into two groups, with one group completing video game rehabilitation and one group completing conventional rehabilitation.
