NCT ID: NCT04145674 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Restless Legs Syndrome

A Proof of Concept, Phase 2, Double-blind, Randomized Trial With d-Methadone Product Versus Placebo

Glu-REST
Start date: October 22, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Proof of concept, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial with d-methadone proposed for the first time for use in the treatment of patients diagnosed with primary, moderate to very severe Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). Its glutamatergic mechanism of action might be effective on RLS arousal pattern and sleep disturbance which highly impair the quality of life of RLS's patients. Patients will take the study drug/placebo once a day for 30 consecutive days.

NCT ID: NCT04144790 Recruiting - ADHD Clinical Trials

Impact of Iron Supplementation Treatment on Brain Iron Concentrations

Start date: September 15, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of the present study is to provide novel data to evaluate brain iron concentration as a mediator of the association between iron supplementation treatment and improvement in symptoms of ADHD and RLS in children, including PLMS. Twelve participants between the ages of 10 and 15 years will be recruited via Kennedy Krieger Institute's Sleep Disorders Clinic. Eligible participants will be asked to complete, at baseline (pre-iron supplementation treatment) and again at follow-up (post-treatment): 1) a 7 Tesla MRI scan, 2) five consecutive nights of RestEaZeā„¢ monitoring, 3) caregiver-reported (or patient-reported if over the age of 10 years) International Restless Leg Syndrome Scale (IRLSS), and 4) caregiver-reported ADHD Rating Scale-5. The treatment interval will be 3 months.

NCT ID: NCT04142840 Recruiting - Emergence Agitation Clinical Trials

Dexmedetomidine and Propofol in the Treatment of Emergence Agitation

Start date: November 1, 2019
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

1. This clinical research aims to compare the effects of dexmedetomidine and propofol on the treatment of emergence agitation in adult patients after general anesthesia. 2. Half of participants will receive dexmedetomidine while the other half will receive propofol when emergence agitation happens.

NCT ID: NCT04112979 Completed - Procedural Pain Clinical Trials

Auditory Intraoperative Stimulation Effects on Pain and Agitation at Awakening (AUDIOPAW)

AUDIOPAW
Start date: March 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Adenotonsillectomy (AT) is one of the most common pediatric surgical procedures. The management of postoperative pain and agitation after AT is still a controversial issue. Safety considerations limit the use of opioids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, leading to inadequate control of the high levels of postoperative pain experienced by AT patients. Along with pain killers, non-pharmacological strategies have remarkable impact on pain management in children. A systematic review and meta-analysis published in The Lancet in 2015 on adult patients suggest that auditory stimulation with music in the perioperative setting, and even when patients are under general anaesthesia, can reduce postoperative pain, anxiety, and analgesia needs. The authors concluded that there is sufficient evidence to implement auditory stimulation in the treatment of all adult surgical patients, regardless of the mode of administration. Up to now, no research has investigated the effects of intraoperative auditory stimulation on pain and agitation upon awakening after AT in the pediatric population. Objective of this study is to determine the effects of intraoperative auditory stimulation on pain and agitation upon awakening after pediatric AT.

NCT ID: NCT04094779 Recruiting - Dementia Clinical Trials

Effect of "Breath of Fresh Air" Flash Activity on Dementia Agitation : Pilot Study

DEMACTIFLASH
Start date: September 20, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Non-drug therapies (NDT) constitute a strong axis of the person with dementia behaviour management. Among these NDT, the flash activities constitute a mode of intervention to prevent and control the expression of the most disruptive behavior. These are short-term activities with the objective of decreasing the behavioural disorders intensity in less than 15 minutes. The aim of this pilot study is to test the effect of a flash activity "breath of fresh air" compared to the usual relational care on the short-term decrease (15 min.) of the agitation in hospitalized dementia patients.

NCT ID: NCT04075435 Recruiting - Anxiety Clinical Trials

Cannabidiol Solution for the Treatment of Behavioral Symptoms in Older Adults With Mild Cognitive Impairment or Alzheimer's Dementia

CBD
Start date: January 11, 2021
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This is an open label, eight week, clinical trial of a proprietary high CBD/low THC sublingual solution for the treatment of clinically significant anxiety and agitation in individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or mild to moderate Alzheimer's Disease (AD).

NCT ID: NCT04061681 Completed - Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Trials

Efficacy of BIPAMS for Restless Legs Syndrome in Adults With Multiple Sclerosis: A Pilot Study

Start date: January 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a 16-week behavioral intervention for increasing physical activity and reducing restless legs syndrome (RLS) severity in persons with multiple sclerosis (MS) and RLS. The study includes a proposed sample of 20 persons with MS and RLS that will be randomized into either a 16-week behavioral intervention arm aimed at increasing physical activity or a 16-week wait-list control arm.

NCT ID: NCT04058899 Active, not recruiting - Emergence Delirium Clinical Trials

Dexmedetomidine Versus Nalbuphine in Prevention of Emergence Agitation Following Adenotonsillectomy in Pediatrics

Start date: March 5, 2019
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the present study is to compare the effect of IV infusion 0.5 µg/kg dexmedetomidine and IV 0.1 mg/kg nalbuphine in preschool children for prevention of emergence agitation after adenotonsillectomy under sevoflurane anesthesia.

NCT ID: NCT04053426 Completed - Clinical trials for Agitation,Psychomotor

Agitation Follow up After Introduction of a New Patient Care Algorithm

SARA
Start date: July 19, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Agitation in the intensive care unit is motor hyperactivity. It is frequent (b/w 30% to 70%) and has multiple causes: pain, medical reason, delirium, medication, etc. It can be a source of complication, for the patient, and equipment pullout. International recommendations state that the agitation should be taken care of with standardized protocols to improve patient care.

NCT ID: NCT04018157 Completed - Clinical trials for Agitation, Emergence

Single Bolus Dose of Ketodex Versus Ketofol For Prevention Of Emergence Agitation In Adults Undergoing Nasal Surgeries

Start date: July 3, 2019
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

- emergence agitation is seen in around 68% after nasal surgeries. Agitated patients needs more staff and nurses to control their abnormal movement which leads to self extubation , removal of catheters and bruises in the extremities. - Dexmedetomidine, ketamine, propofol intravenous infusion and other agents was used to prevent EA . Recently, ketodex is found to reduce the incidence and severity of EA . - We aim to compare single bolus dose of Ketodex Versus Ketofol For Prevention Of emergence Agitation in adults undergoing nasal surgeries.
