Non-randomized study of robot-assisted perineal reconstruction with rectus abdominis muscle flap in patients operated with abdominoperineal resection for irradiated locally advanced rectal or anal cancer. Operative time, complications, wound healing, pre- and postoperatively abdominal wall strength and patient related outcomes including sexual health will be registered.

Preoperative anaemia has been shown to be associated with worse outcomes after surgery in both adults and children. Limited research has been done on how common preoperative iron-deficiency anaemia (IDA) is in children and how best to treat it. Oral iron is a relatively cost-effective treatment for IDA. This study aims to show whether giving children with IDA oral iron for 6-12 weeks before their surgery significantly improves their haemoglobin.

An African, Multi-centre Evaluation of Patient Care and Clinical Outcomes for Paediatric Patients Undergoing Surgery

Access to safe surgery is a basic human right. This is highlighted by the work of the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery. There is a large burden of surgical disease in the paediatric surgical population with a large unmet need. In Africa, children comprise a significant proportion of the population with approximately 50% of the population being ≤19 years old. Limited data from Africa suggests the risk factors for, incidence and outcomes associated with paediatric surgical complications differ from HICs. The African Surgical Outcomes Study (ASOS) has described surgical outcomes in adult patients in Africa. There is a need to determine the burden of the complications in paediatric surgical patients in Africa, and the risk factors for and the type of complications experienced. Once this study is completed, the investigators will be able to target appropriate interventions to improve surgical outcomes for children in Africa. The investigators have the capacity to do this important work, through the African Perioperative Research Group (APORG) group.

Possibility to Stop Perdialytic Heparin Therapy in Hemodialysed Patients With HeprAN ™ Membrane and Treated by Long-term Anticoagulation With VKA

Use HeprAN ™ membrane (coated with heparin) should be allow the success of dialysis sessions, with adequate dialysis parameters, in patients treated by long-term anticoagulation with VKA, without addition of heparin perdialytic. Less use of heparin (UFH or LMWH) during hemodialysis session should be allow a decrease of bleedings (moderate or major) and blood transfusions for hemodialysed patients with HeprAN ™ membrane and treated by long-term anticoagulation with VKA

Prevention of Hip Displacement in Children With Cerebral Palsy in Denmark

Children with cerebral palsy have an increased risk of hip dislocation, which is a painful and severe complication of cerebral palsy. The 20-years evaluation of the Swedish surveillance programme shows that hip dislocation in children with cerebral palsy can be prevented with regular clinical and radiographic examination and early intervention. We would like to determine the individual risk for hip displacement for Danish children with CP in The Danish Cerebral Palsy Follow-up Program. This could be a valuable clinical tool in deciding on further follow-up and treatment.

Tonsil Surgery in Sweden: A National Quality Register

For the purpose of quality assurance, the Swedish Association for Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck surgery has developed several national registers concerning ear, nose and throat care. One of these is the National Tonsil Surgery Registry in Sweden (NTSRS). In NTSRS patients undergoing tonsil surgery for benign indications are included. Data regarding indication, surgical methods and techniques as well as patient reported outcomes measures are collected. The register is designed to facilitate description of clinical activities in a unit and help identify the need of clinical improvement programs. By compiling national data, the register can be used to describe clinical practice in a large national cohort.
