Reducing Suicide Risk Among Aging Caregivers of Persons With AD/ADRD

Start date: January 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This project aims to adapt, implement, and evaluate a Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills training group intervention for aging adult family caregivers of person with Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) to reduce suicidality. By adapting this modality, the investigators will provide a scalable intervention tailored for this high-risk population, maximizing the public health impact and improving suicide prevention.

This is an experimental study to evaluate the efficacy of a Virtual Reality aid Physical Therapy (VRPT) in increasing the physical activity levels and quality of life of children.

NCT ID: NCT05827354 Recruiting - Critical Illness Clinical Trials

Incidence and Factors Associated to the Development of PICS-F Among ICU Relatives: A Longitudinal Exploratory Study

Start date: June 27, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The constellation of long-term psychological, physical, and cognitive impairments arising after a critical illness among family members of ICU survivors has been labeled as "Post Intensive Care Syndrome - Family" (PICS-F). Despite PICS-F awareness, the long-term issues faced by ICU family members remain poorly understood with several gaps in knowledge remaining such as the role of protective psychosocial factors, caregiver burden, or family satisfaction in the development of the syndrome. This single-center, longitudinal exploratory study, aims to determine the incidence of each PICS-F impairment (psychological, physical, and cognitive) and to identify factors (during ICU stay and after hospital discharge) associated with the development or prevention of the PICS-F impairments among family members of ICU survivors of a public hospital in Chile.

Dynamic Predictions of the Links Between Psychological and Physical Health of Older Patients in Nursing Home

BioMIND
Start date: March 28, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Taking the older person as a whole is now essential to age well and prevent loss of functional independence. However, the relationship between physical and mental health remains not well understood. Combining the exploration of markers of inflammation, endocrine, nutritional, and metabolic functions, along with long-term monitoring of older persons, could allow for a comprehensive understanding of the biological phenotype, regardless of underlying pathologies. The primary objective will be to simultaneously test the psychosomatic model and the disability model in order to more fully account for the dynamic causal relationships between physical and mental health in older people. The investigators will investigate the mediating role of the biological phenotype on these relationships between mental and physical health. The independent and then combined analysis of specific candidate biomarkers will open up the possibility of identifying a biological mediation between mental and physical health. Furthermore, this will also allow us to deepen our understanding of the evolution of the immune-endocrine-metabolic state and, more broadly, of the biological phenotype of older people during aging.

NCT ID: NCT04769349 Active, not recruiting - Covid19 Clinical Trials

Effectiveness of Supportive Housing on COVID-19 Related Outcomes for People Experiencing Homelessness

Start date: January 29, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study aims to understand the comparative effectiveness of two PSH models (PB-PSH and SS-PSH) on quality of life and COVID-19 related health behaviors by following for 6 months a cohort of 800 PEH who have been placed in either PB (n=400) or SS (n=400). In a natural observational experiment, participants will complete 6 monthly mobile-based questionnaires exploring quality of life including physical, mental, social, and housing/environmental health, COVID-19 prevention practices (i.e., handwashing, social distancing, face covering), and past-30-day healthcare utilization. A sub-sample of 40 participants living in both PB-PSH and SS-PSH will be qualitatively interviewed longitudinally to help contextualize quantitative findings. Focus groups will also be conducted with providers of PSH and qualitative interviews will be conducted with other key stakeholders to understand perspectives on the challenges of implementing and sustaining COVID-19 related prevention practices while maintaining a continuity of care.

NCT ID: NCT04596176 Completed - Mental Health Clinical Trials

Partnerships to Demonstrate Effectiveness of Supportive Housing for Families in the Child Welfare System

Start date: November 1, 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This was a randomized controlled trial comparing child welfare business as usual (BAU) with two levels of supportive housing (SH). To identify eligible families, a screening tool was developed that helped social workers apply a "housing lens" very early in family child welfare involvement. The study examined the extent to which implementation was faithful to the model and how well state and community partners collaborated. The research included a process evaluation, outcomes study, and economic analysis. Access to either intervention group was associated with higher family preservation and reunification, with service model intensity demonstrating minimal impact. An economic evaluation revealed that the intensive model cost the most, but the existing SH program and routine care incurred equivalent per-child costs.

NCT ID: NCT04412343 Completed - Depression Clinical Trials
