Filter by:Rationale: Delivery dry gas during anesthesia is associated with post-operative sore throat (POST). Oxygen nebulizer therapy increases humidity to the airway, especially post-extubation. Objective: To investigate the effect and complications of oxygen nebulizer therapy on POST.
GABHS are common etiological agents for acute pharyngitis. However, local data is limited and large scale surveillance studies have not been done. This study aims to evaluate the disease burden in the community due to GABHS. In this study, patients presenting with signs of acute pharyngitis will be evaluated. Patients with fulfilling the inclusion criteria will be tested for Rapid Antigen Detection test (RADT)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of double-lumen tube thermosoftening before intubation to reduce postoperative hoarseness and sore throat.
"Sore throat is one of the most common complaints encountered in clinical practice. And in 65% of cases, the infection is thought to be viral in nature. The aim of this study is to evaluate the analgesic profile of 3 Ibuprofen lozenges after single administration in acute sore throat pain."
Currently effective antivials for influenza treatment are two influenza viral neuraminidase inhibitors, oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza). Resistance to these drugs is reflected by reduced susceptibility of viral neuraminidase to these drugs. The hypothesis is that the signal ratio of two reagents (with or without a single concentration of the drug) correlates the IC50 value, an accurate measurement of drug resistance but impractical for clinical use.
The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy and safety of 1000 mg Aspirin (study medication) by comparing 1000 mg Paracetamol (study medication) in treating the symptoms of sore throat associated with a common cold. The study is designed to develop a treatment method against sore throat associated with a common cold which will have more advantages for patients than the methods that are currently available.
This study is to evaluate the onset of relief provided by a single, oral dose of fast release aspirin 1000 mg compared to acetaminophen 1000 mg and placebo in subjects with sore throat pain.
The investigators propose to test the hypothesis that pre-operative gargling with licorice reduces the incidence of sore throat in rest after intubation with double-lumen endotracheal tubes compared to placebo after surgery through the first four post-extubation hours.
To assess the impact of four Patient Information Leaflets (PIL) on patient behaviour in primary care.
Clinical prediction rules (CPRs) are frontline decision aids that help physicians make evidence-based, cost-effective decisions that benefit their patients. The aims of this project are to incorporate two well validated CPRs (Streptococcal Pharyngitis Prediction Rule and the Pneumonia Clinical Prediction Rule) into an outpatient Electronic Medical Record System (EMR) and to perform a randomized controlled trial of the effectiveness of integrated CPRs impact on doctor's behaviors (e.g. test ordering and medication prescribing).
