Transversus Thoracic Muscle Plane Block for Open Heart Surgery

TTMP
Start date: October 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Poststernotomy pain is a complication of cardiac surgery. Poorly controlled pain is associated with myocardial ischemia, cardiac arrhythmias, hypercoagulability, pulmonary complications, and increased rates of delirium and wound infection. The transverse thoracic muscle plane (TTMP) block is a novel plane block that provide pain for sternotomy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the analgesic effect of ultrasound guided TTMP block in patients undergoing open heart surgery.

NCT ID: NCT04087564 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

The Impact of Music on Nociceptive Processing

Start date: June 13, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators are studying the ways that different music may change pain perception

NCT ID: NCT04080037 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Assessing Opioid Care Practices Using CPV Patient Simulation Modules

Start date: September 3, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will test the quality of opioid-related physician care decisions using a patient-simulation based measurement and feedback approach that combines multiple-choice care decisions with real-time, personalized scoring and feedback. The cases and feedback have been designed to align with the latest CDC opioid guidelines. The study will also measure the impact of gaming-inspired competition and motivation, including a weekly leaderboard, to improve evidence-based care decisions. The quality of care decisions will be measured in the simulations and in a multiple-choice assessment administered before and after the patient simulations.

NCT ID: NCT04057989 Completed - Analgesia Clinical Trials

Retrospective Evaluation of Ketamine Effectiveness for the Treatment of Acute Battlefield Related Pain

Start date: August 2014
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Using a retrospective review of records, we will conduct a multivariate analysis to examine the relationship between exposure to ketamine, as an analgesic agent in combat related trauma care, the use of additional opioid pain medications, and patient reported pain levels.

NCT ID: NCT04044716 Completed - Pain, Postoperative Clinical Trials

Nurse Initiated Acupressure for Pain Management

Start date: December 31, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of pilot study is to test the feasibility of nurse initiated post-operative bilateral auricular acupressure as an adjunct to medication for post-operative pain management.

NCT ID: NCT04037878 Completed - Pain, Acute Clinical Trials

Tap Block vs Peritoneal Infiltration After Major Gynecological Surgeries

Start date: November 20, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

It is a randomized controlled trial to determine the total tramadol consumption after major gynecological studies. Intervention groups include TAP block or local infiltration by the surgeon. These will be compared to a control group. Total tramadol consumption will be calculated and therefore pain control will be assessed.

NCT ID: NCT04037085 Completed - Opioid Use Clinical Trials

Ketamine to Improve Recovery After Cesarean Delivery - Part 1

KINETIC
Start date: October 9, 2019
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this study is evaluate the breastmilk transfer and pharmacokinetics (Part 1) and effectiveness (Part 2) of a post-cesarean delivery intravenous ketamine bolus-and-infusion strategy, as a preventive analgesic modality to reduce pain and opioid requirements. In Part 1, physiochemical analysis of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) and breastmilk transfer of ketamine and its metabolites will be assessed. Additionally calculated estimations for neonatal and infant exposure will be assessed. In Part 2, PK/PD assessments will continue in a larger cohort; endpoints will also include postpartum pain, depression scores, central sensitization measures, patient-reported postpartum recovery scores, breastfeeding, and parent-infant bonding, assessed in the acute post-cesarean period and up to 12 weeks postpartum in a randomized controlled trial.

NCT ID: NCT04029987 Completed - Pain, Acute Clinical Trials

Bilateral Ultrasound-Guided Intra Muscular Quadratus Lumborum Block Versus Trans Muscular Quadratus Lumborum Block for Peri-Operative Analgesia in Abdominal Surgeries in Pediatric Patients. A Comparative Controlled Randomized Study.

Start date: October 25, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To compare between the intra muscular quadratous lamborum and the Trans muscular quadratous lamborum in pediatric population under going abdominal surgeries regards to first request of rescue analgesia, degree of pain relief, effect on hemo dynamic stability and incidence of complications.

NCT ID: NCT03991546 Completed - Pain, Postoperative Clinical Trials

Pain and Narcotic Usage After Orthopaedic Surgery

Start date: June 3, 2016
Phase: N/A
