Filter by:The investigators propose a prospective, observational study to determine the impact of OSA and associated physiological parameters on clinical outcomes in patients with pulmonary hypertension. The prevalence, phenotypes, and predictors of OSA in the setting of pulmonary hypertension will also be investigated. Adult patients diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension by right heart catheterization are eligible. Recruited patients will undergo an overnight cardiorespiratory study using a Level III portable device before hospital discharge. The cardiorespiratory tracings during sleep will be analyzed and audited by a certified sleep physician. The patients will be divided into two groups based on the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI): OSA (AHI ≥ 5) and non-OSA (AHI<5) groups. Hypoxemic parameters such as time percentage spent with oxygen saturation below 90% and nadir oxygen saturation were all collected. Baseline clinical characteristics, such as the Epworth sleepiness scales, were also obtained. The primary endpoint of this study was clinical worsening (CW), defined as the composite event of a reduction in exercise capacity, worsening in World Health Organization functional class, non-elective hospitalization for pulmonary hypertension, or all-cause mortality. Secondary endpoints include individual outcomes of clinical worsening and all-cause mortality.
This is a prospective, multicentric, european registry of patients with infective endocarditis undergoing cardiac surgery. Patient demographics, clinical data and laboratory values will be collected, as well as treatment outcomes at day 30, day 90 and 1-5 years after the intervention.
Objective: To explore the predictive value of characteristic disorder of intestinal flora for clinical prognosis in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage. Secondary objectives: 1) To investigate the correlation of gut microbiota and its serological indicators with imaging features and clinical neurological deficits in ICH; 2) Dynamically observe the changes of human microbiome and its serological indicators after ICH, and explore the biomarkers based on human microbiome related to disease changes.
Paraprosthetic cardiac valve leaks are a progressive complication after after surgical or percutaneous heart valve replacement. These leaks can lead to heart failure and/or life-threatening hemolysis. Percutaneous closure of para-prosthetic leaks has been developed as an alternative to surgery in high-risk patients. These procedures remain technically challenging with a significant risk of failure and complications, but this risk is improved since the development of dedicated prostheses and the increased experience of the operators. The data in the literature concerning percutaneous leak closure remain limited and disparate and mostly retrospective. The impact of the procedures on the quality of life of patients is not known. Beyond the technical aspects and the follow-up of major cardiovascular events, investigators also wonder what is the impact of these procedures on the quality of life of patients. Investigators hypothesize that even a partial reduction in paraprosthetic leakage may be associated with an improvement in quality of life through reduction of transfusion needs and/or reduction of dyspnea. A prospective study is warranted to assess the technical and clinical and clinical results of these procedures, together with the evaluation of the the possible benefit on the quality of life of the patients.
Interaural loudness and pitch mismatch in single-sided deaf cochlear implant (SSD-CI) recipients reduces binaural processing cues and contributes to performance outcomes, specifically speech understanding in noise and localization. We aim to improve binaural cues through speech processor program modifications that reduce interaural mismatches.
Since March 2022, there are an outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 infection (Omicron) in Shanghai. This cohort study aims to analysis the clinical outcomes of neonates born to mothers with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
In this study, the performance with the CI is investigated over time in three groups of freshly implanted CI users. Both the standard frequency-band distribution and anatomy-based fitting will be used to compare outcomes.
The study is designed to investigate the effect of a multicomponent prehabilitation pathway on early and long-term outcomes in elderly patients with frailty recovering from surgery for digestive cancer.
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common disease, but diagnosis is usually delayed or missed in hospitalized patients. The automated electronic alert for AKI may help to improve the outcomes of these patients through identifying all cases of AKI early. Therefore, the investigators conduct a randomly controlled study to test whether automated electronic alert for AKI could improve the outcomes of hospitalized patients.
6-minute walk test (6MWT) is widely used in cardiopulmonary surgery as a prognostic marker. This prospective cohort study aims to find whether 6MWT will be a good prognostic factor for patients who will undergo laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery. The investigators will enroll patients awaiting elective laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery in this study. After informed consent was obtained, the participants will be evaluated through 6MWT. Preoperative assessment and conditions during operation will be recorded. The investigators will analyze the correlation between preoperative 6MWT's result and outcomes after laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery.
