This is a pilot investigator initiated/sponsored clinical trial to evaluate the feasibility of using real-time DexCom G6 continuous glucose monitor (CGM or glucose sensor) trend data and an insulin-dosing algorithm to control the glucose levels of type 2 diabetic patients undergoing hip/knee orthopedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH). Blinded CGM glucose data will be recorded prior to hospital admission, during hospital admission, and after hospital discharge to evaluate glucose control in this diabetic patient population in relationship to clinical outcomes (20 days of recorded blinded CGM data maximum). Prior studies have associated hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, and glycemic variability with an increased incidence of nosocomial infection, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrhythmias, mental status changes, hospital length of stay, and cost. The 20 type 2 diabetic patients in the Control Group will be managed according to standard-of-care methods at TJUH using finger-stick blood glucose measurements in an attempt to maintain the patient's blood glucose levels in the desired target range (80 to 180 mg/dL). Three blinded CGM will be used to record the patient's glucose trend data for future download to a computer and analysis. The 40 type 2 diabetic patients in the Investigational Group will be managed by the orthopedic floor nurses using the real-time DexCom G6 CGM trend data to determine the appropriate therapy to maintain the patient's glucose levels in the desired target range (80 to 180 mg/dL). In addition, three blinded CGM will be used to record the patient's glucose trend data for future download to a computer and analysis. The primary objective of this pilot study is to observe the blood glucose values and glucose sensor (CGM) values of diabetic patients before, during and after hospitalization for hip and knee arthroplasty surgery to determine whether there is a correlation between glucose control and clinical outcomes. This pilot data will be used to plan a future clinical trial in orthopedic surgery patients using CGM to determine patterns of hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, and glycemic variability that correlate with clinical complications, hospital length of stay, and cost.
The purpose of this study is to compare OR3O™ Dual Mobility System to a conventional, single-bearing design Total Hip System in subjects who undergo Primary THA. Data collected in this study will be used to support National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) regulatory approval of OR3O™ Dual Mobility System in China as well as to support and maintain product registration in global markets. Primary Objective: Assess safety and efficacy of the OR3O™ Dual Mobility System in Primary THA at 1 year postoperative. Secondary Objective(s): Assess safety and efficacy of the OR3O™ Dual Mobility System and compatible components in Primary THA up to 2 years after surgery. Other Objective(s): Assess the hip dislocation and hospital readmission up to 2 years after device implantation. 4 study sites in China.

Phase I/IIA randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial to assess safety and efficacy of oral losartan for improving cartilage repair following microfracture to treat focal cartilage defects during hip arthroscopy.
This is a randomized, non-blinded, parallel assignment, clinical trial for the evaluation of usability and effectiveness of ReHub, a telerehabilitation system made up of a cloud platform and an exercise kit with smart sensors, for performing rehabilitation exercises after a primary Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA). Patients admitted to Presidio San Camillo after a THA surgery are randomly allocated to the control arm or the experimental arm with a 1:1 ratio. Participants in both arms receive inpatient care and rehabilitation for 2 weeks at San Camillo. At discharge, they are prescribed with the same daily plan of 5 exercises for autonomous home-based rehabilitation. The experimental arm participants use ReHub to do their exercises instead of working independently and physiotherapists monitor their performance and adherence remotely. Outcomes assessment is performed at San Camillo admission (baseline), at San Camillo discharge (2 weeks from baseline) and 3 weeks after San Camillo discharge (5 weeks from baseline).
This study is a Post Market Clinical Follow up study to fulfil the post market surveillance obligations according to Medical Device Directive and European Medical Device Vigilance System (MEDDEV) 2.12-2. The data collected from this study will serve the purpose of confirming safety and performance of the Zimmer Stafit Acetabular System.
Chronic pain affects more than 50 million adults in the United States and is estimated to cost the nation more than $560 billion dollars each year. Regular physical activity is widely recognized as essential for maintaining health for all individuals, but is particularly important for individuals with chronic pain (ICPs) as physical activity can prevent further deconditioning and may even improve pain outcomes. Previous literature has shown that certain categories of partner behaviors (e.g., solicitous, punishing, distracting) are associated with different health outcomes for ICPs, and recently researchers have begun examining partner behaviors through the lens of Self-Determination Theory, specifically looking at the effects of autonomy support from a spouse on physical activity among ICPs. Partner autonomy support has been positively associated with physical activity levels and better health outcomes, but no studies to date have explored what factors predict whether or not a partner will use an autonomy supportive interpersonal style (as opposed to a controlling interpersonal style) with the ICP. Similarly, more research is needed on the mechanisms by which autonomy support promotes positive outcomes for ICPs. Though receiving autonomy support has been linked to increased physical activity and improved mental health, no studies have yet tested the full Self-Determination Theory model as one possible explanation of the link between this form of partner support and desirable health outcomes. In particular, it is important to understand the ICP's perspective on how partner autonomy support influences need satisfaction and autonomous motivation as possible mediators between autonomy support and ICP physical activity. Furthermore, little research has explored other need supportive behaviors or their need frustrating counterparts. The current study will not only provide greater understanding of autonomy support, but will also expand the literature regarding these other need supportive and need thwarting behaviors. Lastly, given the value of need supportive behaviors from one's partner, it is essential to evaluate how partner perceptions of those need supportive behaviors align with ICP's perceptions of those behaviors. Any need support a partner provides is likely moderated by the ICP's perception of that support.
The objective of this exploratory study is to evaluate the cellular and connective tissue composition of joints from patients with Osteoarthritis (OA) who have been treated with fasinumab, compared with those treated with placebo or Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
