Start date: November 15, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

ABSTRACT Objective: The aim of the study is to determine the effects of animal-assisted activities on the stress and social anxiety levels of physically disabled children. Method: The research was carried out in two separate Special Education and Rehabilitation Centers providing education under the Antalya Provincial Directorate of National Education. The data of the study were obtained between November 2019-September 2020. The study is a single blind randomized controlled study designed in a pretest, posttest and follow-up design. The study was carried out in two different institutions to prevent contamination. Institutions are determined by an independent lottery method. The sample of the study consisted of 44 physically disabled children between the ages of 8-11, as the intervention group (n: 21) and the control group (n: 23). A 45-60 minute structured animal supported activity program (HayDAP) was applied to the intervention group, once a week for 7 weeks. Interviews were conducted individually. The data of the study were obtained using Personal Information Form (KBF), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and Social Anxiety Scale for Children. Follow-up evaluation was made at the end of the 1st month following the completion of the application. There was no intervention in the control group. The data were analyzed using the Pearson Ki-Square Test in SPSS 23.0 package program, Fisher's Exact Test if large, Shapiro-Wilks Test, Box M, Bonferroni and mixed pattern ANOVA tests. A 95% significance level (or α = 0.05 margin of error) was used to determine the differences in the analyzes.

Comparison of the Effects of 5%NaHCO3, 2%CHG and 70%Alcohol in the Prevention of Infections Related to Catheter

Start date: November 7, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Intravenous catheters have become one of the indispensable tools of modern medicine. Peripheric intravenous catheters facilitate the work of healthcare professionals in the treatment phase, especially in diagnostic procedures. Intravenous catheters cause microorganisms to enter the bloodstream by damaging the skin, which is the body's first defense barrier. In this case, it causes infections, sepsis, an increase in mortality and morbidity rates, prolongation of hospital stay, increase in antibiotic use, and medical expenses. The density of the skin flora in the area where the catheter will be inserted is a major risk factor for infection. To prevent complications associated with peripheric intravenous catheters; Performing the procedure in line with the principles of surgical asepsis and following the correct follow-up are among the most important measures that the nurse should take. Also, the child and the parents should be prepared for the procedure and the appropriate environment should be provided. Along with correct catheter placement and care, antisepsis of the cannula placement area is among the indicators of nursing care. As well as the effectiveness and safety of skin disinfectants, topical absorption, lack of toxic effect, local and irritation effect are also important. Solutions with 5% NaHCO3 have recently come to the fore as antiseptic agents. When the literature is examined, it has not been found that there are very few studies on this solution and it is used in skin antisepsis before peripheral intravenous catheterization in children. This study was planned as a randomized controlled experimental design to determine the effectiveness of 5% NaHCO3 water solution in catheter site cleaning in pediatric patients by comparing it with the most commonly used antiseptic agents and to monitor the development of catheter-related infections.

Patients in the experiment group were taught breathing exercises in the preoperative period and on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd day after surgery then, progressive relaxation exercise that lasted 15 minutes was applied to the group. Pain (Short McGill Pain Scale) and anxiety (STAI-S Scale) levels of both groups were evaluated in the preoperative and postoperative period. The patient's vital signs, oxygen saturation and serum cortisol level parameters were measured in the same time interval before and after the relaxation exercise. Significance was evaluated at p <0.05 and p<0,001 levels in the analysis of the data. Prior to the study, the consent of the institution and ethics committee, written and verbal patient consent were obtained.

Hysterosalpingography and Comfort Theory

Start date: September 15, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is the radiological evaluation of the uterine cavity and tubules by giving radiopaque material from the cervical canal to the uterine cavity. HSG is an invasive procedure and is often described by women as "uncomfortable, anxiety-inducing and painful", which indicates impaired comfort .Physical, emotional, sociocultural and environmental factors contribute to the formation of this condition. Comfort Theory is a nursing model that makes it easier for the caregivers to see their problems more systematically and to plan more easily. In the literature review, no studies have been found to determine the effect of Nursing Care Based on Kolcaba's Comfort Theory in Reducing Pain and Comfort on Women Undergoing Hysterosalpingography. It was aimed to determine the effect of Nursing Care Based on Kolcaba Comfort Theory on Pain and Comfort Level in Women Undergoing Hysterosalpingography Procedure. Method. The universe of the research will form women applying for hysterosalpingography procedure in Turkey's northern province of the Health Research and Application Center between. The sample size to be taken from the universe was determined by power analysis based on the reference values of a similar study in the literature. According to the Power analysis, it was decided to include a total of 126 women, including 42 women, in each group (Control group, Intervention 1: Mobile-assisted education and counseling group, Intervention 2: Virtual reality glasses group). In this study, standard nursing care will be applied to the control group, and nursing care based on Kolcaba's Comfort Theory will be applied to the intervention groups. The data will be collected with the Visual Analog Scale(VAS) and General Comfort Questionnaire (GCQ)
