NCT ID: NCT02321904 Completed - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Corneal Confocal Microscopy to Detect Diabetic Neuropathy in Children

CCM
Start date: June 2008
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The overall aim of this study is to confirm the utility of corneal confocal microscopy (CCM) as a new technique to rapidly and non-invasively assess diabetic neuropathy (DN) in children. This study will be divided into two phases: Phase 1 will be a cross-sectional study of children with type 1 diabetes and normal controls, while phase 2 will be a longitudinal assessment of a subgroup of children with type 1 diabetes recruited during Phase 1.

NCT ID: NCT02316210 Completed - Neuropathy Clinical Trials

Optimization of Onpulse Technology for Patients With Post Surgical or Vascular Oedema

TURBO
Start date: May 2014
Phase: Phase 0
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to facilitate further optimization of a neuromuscular electrical stimulation device for use in patients whom are suffering from oedema and neuropathy

NCT ID: NCT02311907 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Glutathione in Preventing Peripheral Neuropathy Caused by Paclitaxel and Carboplatin in Patients With Ovarian Cancer, Fallopian Tube Cancer, and/or Primary Peritoneal Cancer

Start date: December 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This randomized phase III trial is studying glutathione to see how well it works in preventing peripheral neuropathy caused by paclitaxel and carboplatin in patients with ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, and/or primary peritoneal cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Chemoprotective drugs, such as glutathione, may help prevent peripheral neuropathy caused by paclitaxel and carboplatin. It is not yet known whether glutathione is more effective than a placebo in preventing peripheral neuropathy.

NCT ID: NCT02309164 Completed - Neoplasm Clinical Trials

The Use of Acupuncture for Treatment of Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN).

Start date: September 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of acupuncture in relieving sensory and motor symptoms as well as functional impairment and quality of life of patients with chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy

NCT ID: NCT02294149 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Vit D3 and Omega 3 in Chemo Induced Neuropathy

Start date: January 2015
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether administration of mammalian Omega 3 FA(fatty acid) with Vitamin D3 supplements would lower or prevent the risk of neuropathy due to chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT02208206 Completed - Neuropathy Clinical Trials

Analysis of Markers in the Blood Correlated With Neuropathic Pain

Start date: July 2014
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to analyze associations between symptoms and specific markers in the blood in patients suffering from neuropathic pain linked to diseases of different origin. Such markers could be utilized in the future for precise diagnosis of neuropathic pain and might lead to targeted pain treatment.

NCT ID: NCT02115633 Completed - Clinical trials for Peripheral Neuropathy

A Wearable "Balance Booster" - Stepping Closer to the Market

Start date: May 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The overall goal of this project is to continue development and commercialization of a Wearable Sensory Prosthesis termed Walkasins. The device measures foot pressure through a thin sole insert, developed under National Institute on Aging (NIA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I funding, and displays pressure information through a vibrotactile feedback array, placed around the lower leg, to help improve balance function. The device can replace lost foot pressure sensation in individuals with peripheral neuropathy who have balance problems.

NCT ID: NCT02111174 Completed - Neuropathy Clinical Trials

Scrambler Therapy in the Treatment of Chronic Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Start date: March 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to see if Scrambler Therapy with the Calmare MC5-A machine will relieve chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). Scrambler Therapy is a method of pain relief given with common electrocardiography (ECG) skin electrodes. The electrodes are placed on the body in pairs, and the Scrambler Therapy machine directs electrical signals across the field to simulate non-pain information. Based on other studies, we think that we relieve pain with the Scrambler therapy device, but it has not been tested in a setting such as this one. This means that some of the pain relief could be due to placebo effect, or the CIPN pain going away on its own. In this study we want to compare the Scrambler Therapy with the sham therapy (the therapy that does not use the electrical signals). We hope that this study will help us determine if the Scrambler device really helps patients with CIPN. Cancer patients with chronic, chemotherapy-related pain of 4 or more (on a 0-10 scale) for at least 3 months may be eligible to join this study.

NCT ID: NCT02076347 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Comparison of Two Pharmacist-led Population Management Approaches to Increase Monitoring of Vitamin B12 and Serum Creatinine Levels for Patients on Metformin

Start date: February 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this project is to compare two pharmacist-led population management strategies designed to increase the rate of appropriate monitoring of vitamin B12 and serum creatinine for patients taking metformin.

NCT ID: NCT02074267 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Clinical Study for Assessment of the Efficacy of Gabapentin (Carbatin and Neurontin) in Patients With Neuropathy Pain

Start date: March 2009
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of Gabapentin (Carbatin & Neurontin) in patients with neuropathy pain.
