NCT ID: NCT02993276 Completed - Neuroma Clinical Trials

Evaluation of NEUROCAP® In the Treatment of Symptomatic Neuroma

Start date: April 17, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

PROSPECTIVE COHORT EVALUATION OF NEUROCAP® In the Treatment of symptomatic Neuroma (PROTECT Neuro) This post-market surveillance study is conducted to provide post market surveillance information regarding long-term performance and ease of use of the Polyganics nerve capping device (NEUROCAP®) for reduction of the development of peripheral symptomatic end-neuroma.

NCT ID: NCT02948790 Completed - Clinical trials for Hearing Loss, Cochlear

Auditory Nerve Monitoring Using Intra-cochlear Stimulation in Subjects With Acoustic Neuroma

NeuriStim
Start date: April 7, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to assess the auditory nerve functionality with an intraoperative approach following a surgical removal of acoustic neuroma in patients with severe to profound sensorineural hearing disabilities.

NCT ID: NCT02930551 Completed - Neuropathic Pain Clinical Trials

Neuromas as the Cause of Pain

Start date: September 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Neuromas are frequent after trauma and surgery, including amputation and can be identified by high-resolution ultrasound. The role of neuromas as the cause of neuropathic pain is uncertain. The investigators therefore wish to explore if spontaneous and evoked pain will be relieved by injection of local anesthetics near painful neuromas in subjects with peripheral nerve injury.

NCT ID: NCT02838758 Completed - Clinical trials for Intermetatarsal Neuroma

Compare Ultrasound Assisted Cold Therapy and Lidocaine Injection to Treat Morton's Neuroma

Start date: July 2016
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a device that delivers freezing temperature compared to injecting lidocaine (an anesthetic medication) in providing pain relief to patients with disorganized nerve bundle between the toes, also known as Morton's neuroma. The same ultrasound technology that the obstetricians use to visualize a fetus inside a pregnant woman will be used to help the study physician to locate the Morton's neuroma while precisely delivering the freezing temperature and lidocaine near the nerve.

NCT ID: NCT02678793 Completed - Morton's Neuroma Clinical Trials

A Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of CNTX-4975 in Subjects With Painful Intermetatarsal Neuroma (Morton's Neuroma)

Start date: December 2015
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Subjects who have completed study 4975-MN-202 will be eligible to receive open-label treatment with CNTX-4975 200 µg in study 4975-MN-203 if they meet the inclusion/exclusion criteria.

NCT ID: NCT02550756 Completed - Morton's Neuroma Clinical Trials

Study to Evaluate the Safety and Tolerability of CNTX-4975 in Subjects With Painful Intermetatarsal Neuroma (Morton's Neuroma)

Start date: February 2014
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to confirm that the local anesthetic applied to subjects with Morton's Neuroma satisfactorily mitigates procedure pain and ensures that post-procedure discomfort or pain will not result in bias or breaking of the blind in the planned Phase 2b study.

NCT ID: NCT02528266 Completed - Neuroma Clinical Trials

Surgical Treatment of Symptomatic Neuroma "Stop Neuroma"

Start date: January 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is conducted to clinically assess safety and performance of the Polyganics nerve capping device for the treatment of symptomatic neuroma. There is sufficient clinical experience with regard to the safety of the commercially available nerve guide, NEUROLAC®. This new nerve capping device is identical in material and manufacturing. The exception is in design, where NEUROLAC® has two open ends, the nerve capping device has one closed (sealed) end. This study will be conducted to obtain data on the clinical performance of the capping device's ability to isolate the nerve end, resulting in a reduction of pain of experienced from the symptomatic neuroma and prevention of the reoccurrence of a symptomatic neuroma.

NCT ID: NCT02316262 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Targeted Reinnervation for Neuromas as a Means to Improve Prosthesis Control in Major Limb Amputation

Start date: October 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Subjects are being asked to participate in this study because they have an arm or leg amputation and have developed pain related to a neuroma (an ongoing localized pain related to a cut nerve ending). The investigators are studying how targeted reinnervation (TR) helps to both treat neuroma pain and to have increased prosthetic control. This surgery connects these cut nerve endings to nerves going into nearby nonfunctional muscles. This surgery was developed to allow amputees to have better prosthesis control. By chance, neuroma pain improved significantly with TR. The investigators, therefore, are conducting this clinical trial. The investigators will ask all participants to fill out a questionnaire both before and after surgery. This will help us understand how a neuroma affects the quality of life of amputee will allow us to understand how to best improve neuroma pain and prosthesis control. In order to confirm the presence and location of the neuroma before surgery, a magnetic resonance image (MRI) will be performed. Taking these pictures requires subjects to lie still for a short period of time but does not involve any invasive procedures.

NCT ID: NCT02309099 Completed - Meniere's Disease Clinical Trials

Cochlear Implantation After Labyrinthectomy or a Translabyrinthine Surgical Approach

Start date: November 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this project is to determine whether subjects who have undergone labyrinthectomy or a translabyrinthine surgical approach as the treatment for vestibular schwannoma or Meniere's disease benefit from cochlear implantation on speech perception and localization tasks. If the auditory nerve is able to transmit this signal effectively, then these two populations may be able to utilize the combination of electric (in the affected ear) and acoustic (in the non-affected ear) information for improved speech perception in noise and localization as reportedly experienced in other unilateral sensorineural hearing loss populations.

NCT ID: NCT02304094 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Neuroma, Human Forefoot

Morton's Neuroma: Manipulation Versus Steroid Injection

Start date: October 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to establish which of two treatment options is the preferred intervention in the treatment of Morton's Neuroma. A randomised controlled trial shall be performed. Steroid injection is the current gold standard conservative treatment for this condition. Therefore, manipulation shall be compared to a control group receiving a steroid injection in an equality randomised controlled trial. Outcomes will be compared using visual analogue pain scales (VAS), The Manchester-Oxford Foot Questionnaire (MOXFQ), The Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM), the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire and algometric pressure threshold testing. An improvement in either groups' VAS of 20mm above the other group shall be considered as the minimum worthwhile change as this has been identified as the minimum clinically important difference in pain between treatment groups in visual analogue pain scales. There is limited research evidence to support the management of Morton's neuroma with steroid injection although its efficacy has only been demonstrated in the short term.
