The Efficacy of Fycompa (Perampanel) in Children With Epilepsy

Fycompa (Perampanel), a new anti-epileptic drug that uses a new mechanism-AMPA receptor antagonist. Its initial indication is for local or generalized epilepsy in children and adults over 12 years old, but its effectiveness in the treatment of epilepsy in children At present, more evidence is still needed. We will study the effectiveness of Fycompa (Perampanel) in the treatment of epilepsy in children under the age of 18. It is expected that the clinical use of Fycompa (Parampanel) in Taiwan will be able to analyze and study the effectiveness of the clinical use of Fycompa (Parampanel) in the treatment of epilepsy in children, and compare it with foreign reports.

Mobile App as a Guide to Exercises for Patients With Chronic Stroke

Introduction: Stroke continues to be one of the leading causes of disability in the Spanish adult population with the presentation of impairments such as alteration of mobility and a consequent reduction in quality of life. These sequelae, generally chronic, generates a significant expense and saturation of social and health services. With the growth in the number of cases, the development of new rehabilitation approaches and updating of the social context becomes pertinent, such as the incorporation of telerehabilitation to assist individuals with stroke. Objectives: To analyze adherence to physical rehabilitation by mobile App and to evaluate the effectiveness of lumbopelvic stability exercises performed at home with the App. Material and methods: Randomized controlled single blind pilot study (n = 30). Participants with Stroke (<6 months) will be randomized between two groups (App for carrying out lumbopelvic stability exercises + usual treatment versus usual treatment). The study will last 3 months and App adherence, Quality Of Life, participation in Daily Life, functionality, sitting balance, standing balance and gait will be taken as variables. Expected results: It is thought that the use of an App can contribute to rehabilitation in its chronic phase, monitorization and fallow-up the clinical evolution of the patient. Even if chronicity leads us to think about the stabilization of the physical condition, It is thought that the best results will be found among the subjects who will use the App.

Intracorporeal Nanocomposites and Neurological Disorders in Fulgurates (FulgurnanoF)

Objective: To demonstrate the presence of bioresistant intracorporeal carbon-based nanocomposites in subjects exposed to a fulguration, in the immediate aftermath of this fulguration and 24 months (+/- 6 months) after the accident, on blood and urine samples, then in comparison with blood and urine samples from 14 healthy subjects. Hypothesis: Lightning discharge in the human body reveals the presence of multi-functional nanoparticles which are reassembled under the impact of the electric discharge into nanostructured films, filaments and aggregates; they consist of dispersed graphene-like nanoparticles embedded in an aliphatic cross-reticulated matrix. The high electrical conductivity of the nanoinclusions, their refractory properties and the cross-reticulation of the nanoassemblages explain their biorésistance. The graphene-like multi-functional nanoparticles are assumed to trace a population of aerosols formed in the atmosphere by plasma discharge which is present in air, water and all natural resources. Their ability to undergo changes from folded nanosheets to confined ultra-fine nanoparticles allow them to be inhaled or absorbed by the human body, or to be ingested with food.

Effects of Using Dynamic Elastomeric Fabric Orthoses

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of dynamic elastomeric fabric orthoses (DEFOs) used for lower trunk and pelvis on balance, gait parameters, and pelvis symmetry in children with cerebral palsy. Materials and Methods: Twenty-two children (7 girls, 15 boys) in an age range of 4-10 years, with spastic type cerebral palsy, and at gross motor function classification system levels 1 or 2 were included in the study. Children who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups. Ten children were included in the control group (Group I) and 12 children were included in the orthosis group (Group II). Both groups received a physiotherapy and rehabilitation program twice a week for 8 weeks in accordance with neurodevelopmental treatment approaches. Children in Group II were treated with DEFOs in lower body and pelvis in addition to physiotherapy and rehabilitation sessions. The use frequency of the orthosis was extended over the course of the week during which they were active for 8 hours a day. After the demographic data of the children were recorded, the Pediatric Balance Scale and the Timed Up and Go Test were used for balance assessment. Gait parameters and kinematic values of the pelvis were evaluated using the BTS G-Walk®, a wireless mini digital gait analysis system.

Spelling Mistake Tolerant Word Prediction for Working, Writing and Communicating

The main objective of the PREDICT4ALL project is to provide written communication in a computer, reducing the number of spelling errors for each user. The effectiveness of written communication is defined in this study by the number of spelling errors for each user. Word prediction (and therefore correction) must be able to be configured by a therapist (speech therapist, occupational therapist). Adapting the prediction to user errors should also allow it to be more relevant throughout the text input. This software efficiency must increase text input speed, Reduce the cognitive load, establish a classification of spelling errors adapted to the context of text input speed and develop the word prediction module tolerant of these spelling errors.

The device that is the subject of this investigation is a solution for driving simulation of an electric wheelchair. It is intended to enable patients who are likely to acquire an electric wheelchair to train in a virtual environment, favorable to the safety of training, to its repetition, and to produce more varied, rich training environments and more tailored to specific and individualized needs. These solutions will make it easier to access real-world driving for patients who are currently experiencing learning difficulties. It is expected that this investigation demonstrates the reproducibility of driving performance in electric wheelchair driving simulator compared to the real world.

Chest Therapy and Postural Education in Children With Cerebral Palsy

INTRODUCTION: Neurological Chronic disease leads to motor disability and associated pathologies. Numerous studies agree that the lack of prevention and treatment in pulmonary health in children with disabilities results in increased morbidity and mortality, increased medical care and costs in care, and, for patients and their caregivers, decrease in their quality of life OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to assess if children with chronic neurological disease and respiratory disease benefit from airway clearance techniques and postural hygiene workshops to optimize their respiratory status and quality of life. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Multicenter experimental study before-after with intervention of chest therapy and workshops of postural hygiene in 30 children from 0 to 6 years with chronic neurological affectation and respiratory complications. Respiratory clinical variables, volume of expectorated secretions, PedsQL pediatric quality of life questionnaires were evaluated and the number of exacerbations due to respiratory complications was recorded.

Parent-Reported Symptom Assessments in Children Taking Multiple Medications

This study plans to learn about how to measure symptoms (like tiredness or rash) in children with special healthcare needs who take 5 or more medications. Sometimes symptoms change in severity over time or new symptoms develop. This can happen after a new medication is started. This can also happen after the dose of an existing medication is changed. The Investigators believe that parents will be able to provide the best assessment of any symptoms that their child might be experiencing. This study asks parents to report any symptoms their child is currently experiencing.
