A Phase 2 Trial of High-dose Ascorbate for Pancreatic Cancer (PACMAN 2.1)

This clinical trial adds high-dose ascorbate (vitamin C) to the standard of care regimen for metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma (a type of pancreatic cancer). Subjects are randomized between a control group (standard treatment) and an intervention group (pharmacologic ascorbate in addition to the standard treatment).

Intraoperative Radiation Therapy for Locally Advanced or Recurrent Abdomino-pelvic Solid Tumors With the CivaSheet

This study is a pilot study of the CivaSheet, a new type of intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) device that offers several advantages over existing techniques of performing IORT. The CivaSheet device in this study is already approved by the FDA and is not an experimental device. This study will allow us to determine how feasible it is to implant the CivaSheet into patients undergoing surgery for abdominal and pelvic tumors, and assess any possible side effects of the device. This study, if successful, may allow us to offer the CivaSheet more widely as treatment option to future patients.

Anti Xa Activity in Cancer Patients Receiving Low-molecular-weight Heparin for Venous Thromboembolism

Low molecular weight heparins (LMWH) are the reference molecule for the long term treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in cancer patients but remains, however, associated with a high risk of recurrent thromboembolism. The high rate of recurrence may result from alterations in the pharmacokinetics of LMWH. The primary purpose of the study is to compare the pharmacokinetics of anti-Xa activity in patients with cancer and patients without cancer treated with curative dose of low molecular weight heparins (LMWH) for venous thromboembolism (VTE). The secondary purposes are 1/ to study the correlation between anti-Xa LMWH and concentration of plasma heparanase and 2/ to evaluate the predictive nature of the anti-Xa activity on the occurrence of thromboembolic recurrence in cancer patients treated with LMWH for VTE.

Hepatic Resection for Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility of an aggressive multimodal approach among patients with stage IV pancreatic cancer (PAC) with isolated, low-volume hepatic metastasis (LVHM). We will evaluate and describe the surgical and overall outcomes of an initial cohort of subjects who undergo pancreatectomy and hepatic resection/ablation for PAC with LVHM. The end of study results will be reviewed by the Hepatiobiliary Multidisciplinary Conference (HDMC) and Surgery Audit Committee (SAC) to determine the appropriateness of adding this treatment arm for patients with oligometastatic metastatic pancreatic cancer.

The purpose of this study is to collect biological samples from participants with a new diagnosis of cancer (blood and tumor tissue) and from participants who do not have a diagnosis of cancer (blood) in order to characterize the population heterogeneity in cancer and non-cancer participants and to develop models for distinguishing cancer from non-cancer.

Overseas data show that CT screening (screening tests can find diseases early, when they're easier to treat) can reduce deaths from lung cancer and this study will help determine who is most likely benefit from screening.

This phase II trial studies how well cabozantinib-s-malate works in treating younger patients with sarcomas, Wilms tumor, or other rare tumors that have come back, do not respond to therapy, or are newly diagnosed. Cabozantinib-s-malate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for tumor growth and tumor blood vessel growth.
