Filter by:Cancer patients with brain metastases (BM) have poor prognosis. Current treatments produce limited efficacy. Recent advance in cancer immunotherapy has provided important new means to treat cancer patients at advanced stages. This study is designed to perform a clinical trial to treat advanced caner patients with brain metastases with personalized dendritic cell-based cellular vaccines. The patients will receive vaccines consisting of mRNA tumor antigen pulsed DCs. Immune response to the immunized tumor antigens will be monitored. Safety and efficacy will be observed in this study.
This study is conducted to estimate population-based incidence rates of second primary malignancies among patients with CRPC similar to those treated with Xofigo. These rates will provide context for second primary malignancy incidence rates from the REASSURE study. Furthermore this study aims to provide further information about the documentation of bone metastases in Medicare data and the extent of use of only oral androgen deprivation drugs among patients with Medicare Part D coverage, as well as to estimate overall survival of the study population.
The DREAM study will assess the diagnostic accuracy of diffusion-weighted MRI in combination with other imaging modalities (multiparametric MRI and CT Scan) in determining the true status of disappearing liver metastasis (DLM) detected after conversion systemic therapy for unresectable or borderline resectable colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM).
Some cancers can spread, or metastasize, to the brain. When they do, treatment often involves surgery and/or radiation. Optimal treatment of brain metastases would maximize disease control and minimize toxicity (or side effects), and improve the quality of life of patients. A common type of radiation used for brain metastases is called whole brain radiation, which treats not just the cancer that can be seen on scans (i.e., gross disease), but the smaller sites of cancer that may not be visible (i.e. subclinical disease). Fractionation is used to describe repetitive treatments in which small doses (fractions) of a total planned dose are given at separate clinic visits. The most common dosing regimen is 30 Gray (Gy), using 3 Gy per fraction over 10 fractions. Previous studies have suggested that using intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) may be a safer way to deliver higher doses to gross disease and lower doses to the rest of the brain that may contain subclinical disease. This approach may spare the rest of the brain from radiation complications and side effects. The goal of this study is to determine whether using IMRT to treat brain metastases is more effective than current standard whole brain radiation in controlling gross disease and whether patient quality of life and hair loss is improved compared to previous studies using whole brain radiation.
This phase I pilot trial studies the side effects of stereotactic radiosurgery and nivolumab in treating patients with newly diagnosed melanoma that has spread to the brain or spine. Stereotactic radiosurgery is a specialized radiation therapy that delivers a single, high dose of radiation directly to the tumor to more precisely target the cancer. Monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving stereotactic radiosurgery together with nivolumab may be a better treatment for melanoma.
This phase II clinical trial studies how well thermal ablation and spine stereotactic radiosurgery work in treating patients with cancer that has spread to the spine (spine metastases) and is at risk for compressing the spinal cord. Thermal ablation uses a laser to heat tumor tissue and helps to shrink the tumor by destroying tumor cells. Stereotactic radiosurgery delivers a large dose of radiation in a short time precisely to the tumor, sparing healthy surrounding tissue. Combining thermal ablation with stereotactic radiosurgery may be a better way to control cancer that has spread to the spine and is at risk for compressing the spinal cord.
This study aims at estimating the incidence of second primary malignancies as well as the overall survival among metastasized prostate cancer (mPC) and metastasized castrate-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients not treated with radium-223-dichloride.
RECIST criteria for evaluating tumor response are often inadequate for the evaluation of anti-angiogenic drugs. An evaluation model of tumor perfusion with contrast-enhanced ultrasonography was developed at Gustave Roussy. It assesses the tumor vascular response through the analysis of 7 different parameters. Several studies (four at IGR, involving 117 patients, and a multicenter study involving 400 patients) showed that CEUS allows early evaluation of the effect of anti-angiogenic drugs. Two of these parameters are particularly interesting for the early identification of patients responding (or not) to treatment. Those are area under curve , and area under the wash-out. To further validate the use of these parameters, it is essential to measure and describe the level of their intra-patient variability.
This clinical trial was designed to investigate the efficiency and toxicity of fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy(FSRT) combined with Temozolomide(TMZ) for refractory brain metastases.
This study aims to prove that a strategy of first line local ablation of colorectal liver metastases with microwaves is not inferior to liver resections in terms of survival rates at three years with secondary endpoints being survival at five and ten years, interventional complication rates, length of stay, ablation precision measurements, need for further interventions and health-economic analysis. A cohort of 100 patients treated with CT guided microwave ablation of 1-5 metastases <31mm in size will be followed and compared with propensity scored matched controls from the Swedish liver surgery registry - Sweliv. The study is a multi-institutional effort by the Hepato Pancreatico Biliary (HPB) units in Stockholm Sweden, Bern Switzerland and Groningen in the Netherlands.
