NCT ID: NCT03250988 Completed - Clinical trials for Nervous System Diseases

Prevalence of Comorbid Spasticity and Urinary Incontinence in Residents of a Long-Term Care Facility

Start date: January 30, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to improve spasticity diagnosis through exploration of potential new diagnostic markers for spasticity that can assist in diagnosis and referral.

NCT ID: NCT03211390 Completed - Clinical trials for Nervous System Diseases

Using Telemedicine to Improve Spasticity Diagnosis Rates

Start date: January 30, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to test the reliability of using telemedicine so a neurologist can remotely identify residents of a long-term care facility who should be referred to a neurologist for an in-person spasticity consultation.

NCT ID: NCT03209960 Completed - Clinical trials for Nervous System Diseases

Validity and Inter-Rater Reliability of a Novel Bedside Referral Tool for Spasticity

Start date: January 30, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to improve spasticity diagnosis through development of a simple physical examination guide for primary care providers to identify patients who would benefit from being referred to a movement disorders neurologist for a spasticity evaluation.

NCT ID: NCT03176069 Completed - Vaginismus Clinical Trials

Evaluation and Comparison of Women Pelvic Floor With and Without Sexual Dysfunction (Vaginismus)

Start date: February 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Sexuality is considered one of the pillars of quality of life, an integral part of the personality of each individual. Being a basic human being need, it cannot be separated from other aspects of life. For several centuries and until recently, sexuality was considered the "lower instincts" expression related only to the sexual act. Sex is associated with "reproduction" of the sexual energy. On the other hand, the exercise of sexuality includes various factors such as the building of the sensitivity between individuals like touch, dance, fantasy, look, etc. For a long time feminine sexuality was predominantly focused on procreation and has only recently been considered as an integral part of sexual and reproductive rights of women. Vaginismus is a female sexual dysfunction that affects the quality of sexual and psychosocial lives of women, influencing the quality of the couple's relationship. The scientific literature emphasizes the importance of the examination, diagnosis and physical therapy for this dysfunction, but until now there is no quantification or evaluation of the pelvic floor muscles for this group of women, which justifies the realization of this project.

NCT ID: NCT03149263 Completed - Cerebral Palsy Clinical Trials

Evaluation of the Effect of the Presence Of Clowns on Pain and Anxiety Seen During Injections Botulinum Toxin in Child

CLOWN-TOX
Start date: November 10, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

In children requiring botulinum toxin injections, improving supervisory procedures of injection sessions to reduce pain and improve the experience of this invasive procedure is needed. The intervention of medical clowns seems very interesting in this goal, but its effectiveness has not been proven within the botulinum toxin injections. The objective of the study is to evaluate in terms of profit the presence or absence of clowns during a session of botulinum toxins by determining their impact on pain and anxiety felt among children and their carers

NCT ID: NCT03044106 Completed - Muscle Weakness Clinical Trials

Cranial Laser Reflex Technique for Hamstring Function

CLRTHam
Start date: March 4, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Purpose: To conduct a pilot study of the effect of Cranial Laser Reflex Technique (CLRT) compared with sham laser on hamstring muscle flexibility, strength, and pain pressure threshold. Participants: Active, young adults ages 18 to 35. Procedures: A two-visit, assessor and participant-blinded crossover study with 1-week washout. Subjects will complete three functional hamstring tests before and after CLRT and sham laser treatment. Subjects will also complete questionnaires to assess their expectations and perceptions of the interventions.

NCT ID: NCT02076581 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

MyoSense- Automated Muscle Hypertonicity Classification System

Start date: February 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

It is often difficult to quantify and distinguish aspects of abnormal muscle tone due to neurological injury. This makes it difficult to evaluate therapies that aim to reduce the effects of abnormal muscle tone. This research study will evaluate the feasibility of a clinician worn device to capture and quantify features of spasticity and dystonia.

NCT ID: NCT01074281 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

An Observational Study to Examine the Patients With Isolated Systolic Hypertonia (ISH) Under Therapy With Eneas® (NIS ENEAS ISH)

Start date: June 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This non interventional, multicentric, uncontrolled, prospective, observational study was planned to observe the course of disease in subjects with ISH, who were treated with Eneas.

NCT ID: NCT00472914 Completed - Cerebral Palsy Clinical Trials

Use of EMG to Assess Clinical Hypertonia

Start date: January 2007
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Observational

A handheld surface electromyography device will be tested by clinicians on children with limb hypertonia, and inter-rater reliability will be assessed with and without the device.

NCT ID: NCT00394641 Completed - Cerebral Palsy Clinical Trials

Impact of Listening to Low Tones on Motor Function in Children With CP

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study aims to evaluate the impact of a possible new treatment for hypertonia, contributing to the motor disability in children with cerebral palsy (CP). This study follows a 2005-2006 pilot study, that demonstrate a significant motor improvement in 4 children exposed to low tones via stereophonic Headphones.(A possible mechanism is a deep brain stimulation outspreading from the auditory pathways in certain tones) The goal of this study is to perform a double blind randomized placebo-controlled trial (RCT) on 30 children. A three-arm study, with one group receiving the proposed treatment-music with low tones and the other two groups receiving a placebo (music without tones or stories) will be performed. clinical and a non invasive laboratory measurements (surface EMG) related to spasticity, active and passive range of movement, isometric strength and upper and lower body function would be measured both before and after the treatment .the assessments will include also a Visual assessment , evaluation of gaze coordination and a quality of life and a caretaker burden questionnaires.
