Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Aimed to determine the effect of sexual education based on the EX-PLISSIT model on sexual function and sexual satisfaction in women with multiple sclerosis. The present study was a pretest-posttest randomized controlled study. Conducted between June and August 2023 in Turkey. The participants were MS patients who were women 18-49 years old. The intervention (n = 20) and a control group (n = 20). The intervention group received sexual counseling based on the EX-PLISSIT model. The model consists of four levels. The levels are permission, limited information, specific suggestions and intensive therapy. Counseling was presented in six to eight sessions according to the women's sexual problems. The Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and the New Sexual Satisfaction Scale were used to measure the sexual function and sexual satisfaction of the participants. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21. P values below 0.05 were considered statistically significant.

NCT ID: NCT05991297 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for MS (Multiple Sclerosis)

Effects of Deep Sensory Assisted Rehabilitation on Gait and Balance in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis

Start date: June 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The effect of physical therapy and rehabilitation on improving the gait and balance disorders of patients has been proven. FTR applications in MS patients have become routine in developed countries. However, due to the high patient density in our country, FTR cannot be performed at the rate we want due to different reasons such as the inability to separate areas special for MS patients, the lack of special FTR applications for MS patients, and the inability to perform regular FTR follow-ups. Even if FTR is recommended and performed, our patients think that FTR is not very effective due to the above reasons and they do not continue. A team of neurology, physical therapy specialists, and physiotherapists was formed, in-service training was completed and a special rehabilitation program for MS patients was created. First of all, we will apply routine classical FTR to our patients. Sensory and deep sensory disorders, which are more common and severe, especially in the lower extremities, also negatively affect gait and balance. A rehabilitation program was created by adding exercises to improve sensation and deep sense, along with muscle strengthening. The results of the 1st and 21st sessions of the patients in the two groups who underwent classical rehabilitation and deep sensory-assisted rehabilitation will be compared. It was planned to evaluate the gait and balance parameters of the patients as numerical data with clinical scales and the C mill device we used in walking and balance exercises.

NCT ID: NCT05435404 Completed - Cerebral Stroke Clinical Trials

Qualitative Study Patient & Physician Experiences Botox COVID-19

QualBotoxCov
Start date: October 8, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

During the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent series of Lockdowns, clinic out-patient spasticity services were replaced with video based tele-consultation appointments, in order to reduce the potential risk of virus transmission between patients and clinicians in either direction. This meant that for an extensive period of time, this treatment could not be offered, and like many other specialist services, this resulted in a backlog of case referrals and an extensive clinic waiting list, where patient appointments and referrals were delayed by the pandemic. There have been discussions in many professional network forums that have suggested that the necessary changes to appointments during the pandemic may have contributed to a build-up of pain and disability for patients who were unable to access spasticity management treatment when they needed it. This research aims to gain insight and understanding of the individual experiences and perceptions of patients, carers and a physician who have been involved in spasticity treatment out-patient service clinics during and post COVID 19 pandemic. To do this, a qualitative research approach has been adopted and a group of 10 potential participants along with one consultant physician will be invited to participate in the study. Participants will be provided with information on the research (Participant Information Sheet) and asked to provide written informed consent (Consent Form) in order to take part. After providing consent, the participant will be interviewed via telephone. Data will be analysed using a thematic approach by the research team to identify the challenges, opportunities and barriers that may have been encountered during the pandemic and post pandemic period. All participants will be provided with a debrief document.

NCT ID: NCT04822623 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for NMO Spectrum Disorder

Imaging Evaluation of Central Nervous Autoimmune Diseases

Start date: May 1, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common demyelinating disease of the central nervous system and the most common cause of non traumatic disability in young and middle-aged people. Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disease (nmosd) is an independent disease different from Ms. the pathogenesis and the mode of brain and spinal cord injury are different from MS, and the prognosis and optimal treatment are different. It is difficult to distinguish the two diseases in the early stage. Early diagnosis and treatment of the two diseases can greatly improve the quality of life of patients. Therefore, it is an urgent problem to clarify the difference between MS and nmosd injury patterns and to find sensitive imaging markers for early clinical intervention. With the continuous progress of computer aided diagnosis (CAD), it is more and more widely used in medicine, which is expected to help solve the above problems. The purpose of this study is to create a neuroimmune disease evaluation database based on image data. By combining brain and spinal cord imaging, and based on Zhang quantum space learning computer-aided technology, we can achieve accurate segmentation of MS and nmosd brain and spinal cord lesions, analyze the evolution characteristics of the disease at different time points, and screen the imaging indexes related to clinical scores combined with clinical and laboratory indexes Objective: to determine the different prognosis and its influencing factors at the clinical, imaging and molecular levels, and establish the model for predicting disease progression and prognosis, so as to provide the basis for early identification and assistance in guiding treatment and judging prognosis. Clinical information was collected: age, gender, course of disease, MMSE, EDSS disability score, nine hole test, 25 foot walking test. Assess the patient's information processing ability. Blood samples were collected. Imaging examination was performed. The patients were followed up regularly.
