Filter by:It is very significant that assessing staging in gastric cancer patients before surgery, furthermore, determining the optimize surgical strategy ,predict the the efficacy of neoadjuvant therapy for patients. For patients who are ineffective in neoadjuvant therapy, surgery will be more meaningful. It has been reported that the application of CT(computed tomography,CT) and MR(magnetic resonance,MR) in staging of gastric cancer, but not in predicting clinical response to neoadjuvant therapy for gastric cancer. Only a few studies focused on T staging using conventional MRI in gastric cancer, however , relatively new sequences in the chest deserve widely used. To develop a pre-treatment evaluation methods for TN staging in patient with gastric cancer by utilization of the new imaging methods (T2-TSE-BLADE,T2 maps, StarVIBE, iShim-DWI and high resolution CT). By analysing the relationship between TN staging and imaging features to find the imaging characteristics for TN staging, and to find the indicators of new technology and reference values for facilitate pre-treatment diagnosis of TN staging, optimize surgical strategy , predict the the efficacy of adjunctive therapy , and OS and define the range of lymph node for radiotherapy , as making personal treatment planning for gastric cancer .
This is a database study of clinically indicated MRIs on patients with permanent pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.
Under the prostate cancer screening protocol of the project 'Prevention of Obesity-related Cancers', men with elevated PSA with higher prostate cancer risk (PSA 4-10 ng/mL with high Prostate Health Index (PHI) ≥35, or PSA>10 ng/mL) will be offered a prostate biopsy. In the current study, we would like to offer all screened men with elevated PSA in the range of 4-50 ng/mL a biparametric non-contrast MRI prostate (screening protocol) for any suspicious lesion in the prostate. If there is MRI lesion seen, additional targeted biopsies can be performed on top of the standard systematic prostate biopsies. It has been shown in a clinical Caucasian cohort that doing MRI-targeted biopsies resulted in improved detection of clinically significant prostate cancer compared with standard systematic biopsies. In this study investigators would like to investigate the benefits of adding MRI prostate and MRI-targeted biopsy in the diagnostic pathway for prostate cancer in a screened cohort of Chinese men at risk of prostate cancer.

Cerebral radiation necrosis (CRN) is a well-documented late complication of radiation therapy for cancers, and may have a devastating effect on the patient's quality of life (QOL). However,CRN was once regarded as a progressive and irreversible disease, no standard therapy has been suggested for CRN. In our clinical practice, we have used monosialotetrahexosylganglioside (GM1)to treat CRN, and found that GM1 can successfully reverse CRN. So we carried out this prospective study to test the efficacy of GM1 for CRN.
Coronary artery disease (CAD) has a great significance concerning prevalence and mortality in the western world. It is usually diagnosed by catheterization and coronary arteries are visually assessed by the examiner. Thus having a great spectrum of interobserver differences, especially when it comes to intermediate lesions. The gold standard to assess the haemodynamic significance is the measurement of the myocardial fractional flow reserve (FFR). The FAME-study (Tonino, De Bruyne et al. 2009) was able o show that additional FFR- measurements in patients with intermediate lesions could significantly reduce stent implementation and consequently mortality. However this method is not used in daily routine and is available only in a fraction of catheter labs worldwide. Taking this into account decision finding especially in intermediate lesions remains difficult. One major step to simplify the invasive approach concerning intermediate lesions would be to establish a non-invasive procedures which localizes the coronary vessel to intervene ahead catheterization. Do to steady technical development cardiac MRI has become a powerful tool which is able to determine myocardial vitality, perfusion and function. In particular the new generation of 3 Tesla multi transmit MR with its higher field strength and better spatial resolution seems to be able to show first pass myocardial perfusion more precise. With this new technology prefixed to cardiac catheterization clinical relevant information can be made accessible and thus reduce the number of unnecessary implemented stents.
To date except for the larger striato-pallidal complex, there are no reliable imaging markers of small deep nuclei. Major improvement of the spatial resolution resulting from the use of ultra-high field MRI systems offers new perspectives of imaging of these deep structures. We will use the new contrast mechanisms available in data acquired with ultra-high field MR systems (7T) as well as the most recent high angular diffusion imaging techniques in order to characterize the cytoarchitectonics of the deep brain structures and brainstem lesions in parkinsonian syndromes (with special interest in substantia nigra (SN) pathology and nigro-striatal fiber pathways; subthalamic nucleus (STN), red nucleus (RN), oculomotor structures (involved in PSP); pedonculo-pontine nucleus (involved in gait and posture control disorders) and the locus sub-coeruleus area (implicated in sleep disorders) The optimized MR sequences at 7T will be adapted and validated at 3T (on a more clinically oriented MRI approach). The clinical goal of the project (via the characterization of deep brain structures) is the detection of new neuroimaging markers of neuronal lesions in PD. These biomarkers will be used to create a diagnostic tool at early stage of the disease that could be correlated to clinical signs such as gait disorders and help to identify predictive factors. In addition, this could contribute to establish an adequate therapeutic strategy (as for example with deep brain stimulation).
The goal of this research is to find out possible susceptible gene(s) in schizophrenic patients with family history and 5-year period functional changes of brain among the members of family, in order to further analysis factors and their interactions.
