Filter by:This is a multicenter, open-label, fixed dose, 26 week study of patients with MDD. Eligible patients from the lead-in studies will enter the Open-label Safety Study at the Screening/Baseline Visit (Visit 1/Day 1), at which point patient eligibility will be assessed and informed consent obtained.
Three groups of subjects will be included: 20 subjects in the healthy control group, 20 subjects in the MDD electroacupuncture (EA) intervention group, and 20 subjects in the MDD waiting-list group (participants will receive no treatment within 4 weeks). The temperature and infrared thermography (IRT) images of the facial acupoints of three groups will be recorded by an infrared thermal-imaging camera. The average facial temperature and acupoints temperature will be analyzed and compared within 3 groups. In addition, the correlation between facial infrared radiation characteristics of MDD patients and emotional changes will be explored. Besides, the relative specificity of the two meridians will be investigated.
The TARGET study is an active-controlled evaluation of AXS-05 compared to bupropion in patients with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder (MDD) who are adherent to study drug. Subjects are considered to have treatment-resistant MDD if they have had a historical inadequate response to 1 or 2 prior antidepressant treatments (ADTs) and a prospective inadequate response to treatment with bupropion SR, during the current major depressive episode. The TARGET study will first determine treatment adherence based on analysis of drug concentrations of dextromethorphan (in the AXS-05 group) and bupropion (in the bupropion group), and then evaluate the efficacy of AXS-05 in patients determined to be treatment-adherent. Efficacy data for evaluation of treatment effect will be obtained from assessments made during study AXS-05-301.
This study analyzes the affects or Adderall extended-release (XR) in Subjects receiving brain stimulation therapy for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder. Subjects will be assigned by chance to active or placebo group. Active group will be asked to take one 15 mg pill once daily of Adderall XR (amphetamine) and the Placebo group will be asked take an identical appearing tablet/capsule, one tablet by mouth daily. The placebo tablet has no active ingredients and has no affect on the body or mind. With the exception of the study drug, all other study activities between both groups will be identical. Subjects will use the assigned study drug two weeks before therapy and throughout the first 10 therapy treatments. A total of seven(7) visits will be required for screening, drug assignment, and completion of mood assessments. This study will enroll a total of 30 Subjects.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in efficacy between transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) treatment in subjects suffering from major depressive disorder.
The teaching platform of the TCM daycare clinics for depression patients will provide a good clinical training environment for the trainees. They can learn how to take care of depression patients by the lectures and the clinical practice experiences in the daycare clinics. They can also learn a holistic approach, a patient-centered healthcare service. This teaching model will strengthen the clinical training of TCM and enhance the international competitiveness of TCM doctors.
The Canadian Rapid Treatment Center of Excellence (CRTCE) is a healthcare facility principally focused on providing best practices of intravenous ketamine treatment to adult patients suffering from mental health conditions. The center focuses specifically on treating individuals suffering from major depression disorder, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder as their primary diagnosis. Herein, this retrospective analysis aims to look at past data in order to further develop our understanding of ketamine in the use of psychiatry.
This study will investigate the feasibility, safety, and tolerability of administering repetitive Transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS) at frequencies other than standard 10 Hz. This study will enroll 10 subjects who will undergo one quantitative electroencephalograph, one TMS procedure to determine the appropriate frequency and intensity for treatment, weekly mood/symptom assessments, and up to 30 TMS treatments. Subjects will be asked to participate for up to 6 weeks.

Most clinical major depression responds to standard treatments (medication and psychotherapy); however, a significant subset of depressed patients (15-20%) do not respond to these treatments and are referred to as treatment-resistant major depression (TRMD). New treatments for TRMD are needed, and one promising line of research are drugs known as N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) glutamate receptor antagonists. In a recent pilot study, the investigators of this study demonstrated that the NMDA antagonist nitrous oxide is effective in TRMD, reducing depressive symptoms, guilt, and suicidal thinking. To more closely investigate suicidal thinking, this study is designed as a double-blind, randomized, prospective, inpatient trial comparing inhaled nitrous oxide (N2O) plus treatment as usual versus inhaled placebo plus treatment as usual. All unipolar depressed, acutely suicidal inpatients will receive standard treatment for their depression/ suicidal thinking (TAU). Additionally, participants will undergo a maximum of four one hour inhalation sessions as inpatients and 2 booster sessions as outpatients during which they will receive either inhaled nitrous oxide (50% nitrous oxide/50% oxygen = active treatment) or placebo gas (50% nitrogen/50% oxygen). A target total of 50 patients with suicidal ideation and unipolar depression will be enrolled, 25 of whom will be assigned to the TAU control group and 25 of whom will be assigned to the N2O + TAU experimental group.
