NCT ID: NCT05398393 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Hepatitis B, Chronic

An Experimental Study on the Effect of Tenofovir Amibufenamide on Blood Lipid During Anti-HBV Treatment

Start date: January 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In June 2021, Chinese Food and Drug Administration approved the launch of the self-developed new drug Tenofovir Amibufenamide(TMF). TMF is a new second generation of tenofovir(TFV) and its effect on blood lipids is unclear. Our study aims to figure out the effect of TMF on serum lipid level in the process of antiviral therapy for chronic hepatitis B patients.

NCT ID: NCT05395806 Active, not recruiting - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Reducing Cardiovascular Risk in Primary Care: a Randomized Clinical Trial

Misalud
Start date: January 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death and disease in Chile. It explains 27.6% of the causes of death and 14% of disabled adjusted life years in the Chilean population. Low levels of physical activity and low levels of adherence to pharmacological therapy are major risk factors for cardiovascular disease in at-risk populations. This project will design and test the effectiveness of a mobile application based on gamification theory for improving cardiovascular disease control in a population of 900 primary care patients with moderate or high cardiovascular risk levels. A randomized controlled trial was designed to test the effect of the App in improving 30% of the levels of physical activity and adherence to pharmacological therapy and a significant reduction of 20% in cardiovascular risk levels.

NCT ID: NCT05276271 Completed - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

The Effect of Levetiracetam on Lipid Profile in Children

Start date: October 1, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Levetiracetam is a widely prescribed antiseizure medication in epileptic children due to an estimated better safety profile and easy accessibility. There is limited and contradicting data about the effect of levetiracetam on serum lipid metabolisms, especially in epileptic children. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of levetiracetam therapy on lipid metabolism in euthyroid non-obese epileptic children. In this case-control study, the investigators recruited 37 epileptic children receiving levetiracetam monotherapy for at least 12 months and 54 healthy controls. All the participants were euthyroid and within normal nutritional status limits for their age. Fasting blood samples were obtained for serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free triiodothyronine, free thyroxine, total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglycerides, Triglyceride/HDL Index, uric acid, CRP, and transaminases at the administration. The investigators would like to show if epileptic children with levetiracetam monotherapy are susceptible to lipid metabolism alterations.

NCT ID: NCT05195164 Recruiting - Blood Pressure Clinical Trials

The Effects of Orchiectomy and Age on Vascular and Metabolic Health in Older Versus Younger Transgender Women

Start date: March 22, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study plans to learn more about differences in heart disease risk after gender-affirming orchiectomy (i.e., testes removal) in older transgender (trans) women compared to younger trans women.

NCT ID: NCT05107869 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Endothelial Dysfunction

Effect of Plasma Ceramides on Peripheral Vascular Function

Start date: May 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to determine the effect of elevated plasma ceramides on peripheral vascular function. Subjects will consume a high fat meal consisting of long chain fatty acids (to increase plasma ceramides) or medium chain fatty acids (control). Subjects' vascular function will be assessed with laser Doppler flowmetry to measure their artery function and with the CytoCam device to assess their peripheral microvascular endothelial function.

NCT ID: NCT05095688 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction

Relationship Between Adipose Tissue Distribution and Arterial Stiffness in HFpEF

Start date: September 21, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) was considered as a heterogeneous disease with multi-organ and multi-system design, which is related to various complications, such as hypertension, obesity and arteriosclerosis. Studies have found that hypertension and obesity are respectively associated with increased arterial stiffness. However, there is still no research investigating the the relationship between lipids distribution and arterial stiffness in HFpEF patients.

NCT ID: NCT04641494 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

The Effect of CLA on Obesity, Lung Functions, Lipid Profile and Inflammation in Women With BMI≥25

Start date: November 11, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Conjugated linoleic acid or CLA, is one of the food supplements that could be found in meat, fats, and dairy products of ruminants which has been fed grass not on grains. CLA has shown anti-cancer, anti-obesity, and anti-inflammatory effects in several animal modules, but the results of the human studies were not consistent. Also, a very limited number of studies looked at the CLA effect on the respiratory system. The study will look at the effect of 12 weeks of supplementation of conjugated linoleic acid on obesity markers, lung functions, lipid profile, and inflammation in overweight and obese women in a double-blind randomized control trial. The study looked at the inflammation using different approaches, where it looked at the expression of adhesion molecules on the proinflammatory monocytes as well as it analysed the expression of the stress proteins Heat-shock proteins (HSPA1A and HSPB1)on the PBMCs.

NCT ID: NCT04237467 Recruiting - Blood Pressure Clinical Trials

Effects of Aging and Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy on Vascular Endothelial Function and Metabolic Profiles in Transgender Men

Start date: January 29, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study will examine markers of vascular endothelial function (vascular health) and metabolic profiles in older versus younger transgender men (people who were assigned female at birth but whose gender identity is male). Data will also be compared to those from age group-matched transgender women and cisgender women and men.

NCT ID: NCT04128969 Recruiting - Metabolic Syndrome Clinical Trials

Causal Mechanisms in Adolescent Arterial Stiffness

Start date: February 1, 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Hardening of the blood vessels, called arterial stiffness, is a risk factor for future heart disease and its causes are unclear. The proposed study will 1) randomly assign adolescents at high risk of stiffening blood vessels to take a protein supplement called carnitine and study its effects on arterial stiffening and 2) study carnitine related genes for their effect on arterial stiffening. The study will definitively establish a role for carnitine action as a cause of stiffening blood vessels and signal a way to treat or prevent stiffening.

NCT ID: NCT04091516 Active, not recruiting - Blood Pressure Clinical Trials

Feasibility & Implementation of a Plant-Based Weight-Loss Program in an Office-Based Setting

Start date: August 30, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This prospective study aims to assess the feasibility and implementation of a plant-based, weight-loss program in an office setting. The study will also assess changes in body weight, blood pressure, plasma lipids, glycated hemoglobin, and body composition with a 12-week, plant-based, weight-loss program. These health benefits may illustrate feasibility to physicians and healthcare professionals elsewhere.
