View clinical trials related to Lipid Disorder.
Filter by:The EMERALD intervention involves 1) ordering an Emergency Department (ED) lipid panel, 2) calculating 10-year Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk using the Pooled Cohort Equations, 3) prescribing a moderate- or high-intensity statin if applicable, and 4) referring patients to outpatient care (primary care, preventive cardiology, or general cardiology, depending on risk level).
The goal of this clinical trial is to determine the acute effects on postprandial lipemia and glycemia by supplementing a high-fat meal with either white button (WB) or shiitake (SH) mushroom powder in relatively healthy adults, aged 18 to 35.
Levetiracetam is a widely prescribed antiseizure medication in epileptic children due to an estimated better safety profile and easy accessibility. There is limited and contradicting data about the effect of levetiracetam on serum lipid metabolisms, especially in epileptic children. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of levetiracetam therapy on lipid metabolism in euthyroid non-obese epileptic children. In this case-control study, the investigators recruited 37 epileptic children receiving levetiracetam monotherapy for at least 12 months and 54 healthy controls. All the participants were euthyroid and within normal nutritional status limits for their age. Fasting blood samples were obtained for serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free triiodothyronine, free thyroxine, total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglycerides, Triglyceride/HDL Index, uric acid, CRP, and transaminases at the administration. The investigators would like to show if epileptic children with levetiracetam monotherapy are susceptible to lipid metabolism alterations.
Conjugated linoleic acid or CLA, is one of the food supplements that could be found in meat, fats, and dairy products of ruminants which has been fed grass not on grains. CLA has shown anti-cancer, anti-obesity, and anti-inflammatory effects in several animal modules, but the results of the human studies were not consistent. Also, a very limited number of studies looked at the CLA effect on the respiratory system. The study will look at the effect of 12 weeks of supplementation of conjugated linoleic acid on obesity markers, lung functions, lipid profile, and inflammation in overweight and obese women in a double-blind randomized control trial. The study looked at the inflammation using different approaches, where it looked at the expression of adhesion molecules on the proinflammatory monocytes as well as it analysed the expression of the stress proteins Heat-shock proteins (HSPA1A and HSPB1)on the PBMCs.
This study is a Phase 1 pilot/feasibility mechanistic experiment to help clarify the mechanism of action of an EPA-rich fish oil preparation, icosapent ethyl, on lipid changes in statin-treated patients with residual triglyceridemia.
This study determines the effect of olive oil and bran oil on antioxidant levels, and glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) Intervention: Patient type 2 DM will receive olive oil and bran oil with cross over study
80 children aged 5-13, BMI≥85%, will be recruited to a program for the treatment of overweight children. The intervention group will use the app "Just Dance Now" and The control group will be exposed to the usual program without the app. Measurements will be performed at the beginning of the program, the end and 3 months after completion of the intervention.
