Filter by:How health-related information is communicated affects what is understood and might influence how people make decisions and how confident they feel in participating in clinical shared decision-making. The CICERO trial will compare three different communication tools providing information on fictional interventions for a common medical problem (i.e. social anxiety disorder) both in terms of how well interventions work (benefit) and also possible harms associated (risk). The three communication tools ("Summary of Findings table", "Kilim plot", and "Vitruvian plot") differ in how they present information: exclusively written, primarily written and partially graphical, or mixed written and visual. Each participant will be asked to go through one clinical scenario. The investigators will ask participants to familiarise themselves with the tool they have been allocated to (either a plot or a table) and then answer some validated questionnaires to measure how useful and efficient the communication strategy was. The entire study occurs online in a single study session (about 20 minutes). The results of the CICERO trial will inform how to communicate research findings to the general population, facilitating their implementation in clinical shared decision-making.
Background Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease caused by four distinct but closely related dengue virus (DENV). The incidence of dengue has grown dramatically worldwide in recent decades, with cases reported to WHO increased from 505,430 cases in 2000 to 5.2 million in 2019. The total number of dengue cases in Malaysia has increased from merely 6,543 cases in the year 1995 to 130,101 cases in the year 2019. Knowledge, attitude and practice remain the most effective driving tool against dengue prevention and control and it becomes very necessary to plan an integrated module for the primary prevention of dengue infection especially among school children. Aims The present study intends to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of theory-based integrated dengue education module in improving the knowledge, attitude, practice, environmental cleanliness index, and dengue index among school children in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Methods This study is a single-blinded, cluster randomized controlled trial study, expected to be conducted from 1st June 2023 to 31st May 2025 among 20 primary dan 20 secondary schools in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. The respondents will be allocated into intervention and control groups randomly based on selected clusters to avoid contamination. The intervention group will receive IDEM, while the control group will receive standard education. The outcome will be measured using validated, self-administered questionnaires at four time points: baseline (T0), Immediately (T1), one month (T2), and three months (T3) post-intervention to measure the effectiveness of the intervention module. The data will be analysed using IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 28 involving descriptive and inferential statistics. The Generalized Linear Mixed Model (GLMM) will be used to test the main effect and interaction between and within the intervention and control groups over time at T0, T1, T2 and T3. This study will use a significance level with a p-value of 0.05 and a confidence interval of 95% for hypothesis testing
The purpose of this study is to determine if there are differences in knowledge, self-efficacy, and empathy surrounding concussions, as well as intent to report a concussion, after viewing concussion education (CrashCourse and Brain Fly-Through) in 2D versus in 3D. In this randomized study, all participants will receive two types of concussion education (CrashCourse and Brain Fly-Through). Participants will be randomized to the 2D or 3D (Virtual Reality) group, and will experience both concussion educations in that modality (either 2D or 3D).
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate if a customizable support material allows to improve the knowledge about the stage and subtype of the disease, as well as the indicated treatments, in comparison with a non-customizable support material among patients with breast cancer. The main question it aims to answer is: • What is the impact of delivering a customizable support material so that patients with breast cancer know and remember the stage and subtype of their disease, as well as the indicated treatments, compared to non-customizable support material? Participants in the intervention group will be provided customizable support material while those in the standard group will receive a non-customizable material.
The aim of the study is to investigate whether a serious smartphone game (called MOBI-CPR game) used in the home environment has an impact on the retention of adult basic life support knowledge and skills.
The objective is to evaluate the impact of a pharmacist-led therapeutic education intervention on the knowledge of hospitalized heart failure patients. The knowledge score on heart failure disease and medications will be compared between two groups one month after hospitalization. The intervention group will receive a therapeutic education intervention and usual hospital care and the control group will receive only usual hospital care.

The goal of this clinical trial is to test the effectiveness of the MAP for Coaches, a web-based Musculoskeletal Athletic injury Prevention training course, in youth sport coaches. The main question it aims to answer are: - Is the MAP for Coaches effective in increasing coaches' sport-specific knowledge of musculoskeletal injuries (types, incidence, risk factors, mechanisms, and best prevention practices, with focus on neuromuscular training warm-up exercise programs)? - Is the MAP for Coaches effective in increasing coaches' motivation (self-efficacy and intention) to use sport-specific neuromuscular training warm-up exercise programs? The additional questions it aims to answer are: - Are the effects of the MAP for Coaches sustained in the short- and long-term? - Is the MAP for Coaches effective in promoting the use of sport-specific neuromuscular training warm-up exercise programs in youth sport coaches? Regardless of group, participants will receive the MAP for Coaches eLearning training course; however, the participants allocated to the control group will have their post-test survey completed right after they review the sport-specific 2-page injury prevention e-book containing an overview of the MAP for Coaches training course, including an infographic summary (Summarized MAP for Coaches eLearning Training Course). The intervention group will complete the post-test survey after the full training including both the course summary and the detailed course modules (the full training). The investigators will compare the two groups to see if an exposure to the (Full) MAP for Coaches eLearning Training Course improves study outcomes compared with the control group.
