NCT ID: NCT05745220 Completed - Cornea Clinical Trials

Influence of Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lens Neophyte Wear on Corneal Sensitivity

CSCL
Start date: April 8, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Soft contact lenses can affect the ocular surface and sometimes cause intolerance. The aim of this study is to measure corneal sensitivity using the Swiss Liquid Jet aesthesiometer at baseline, after one and after six weeks, in novice daily contact lens wearers.

NCT ID: NCT05744648 Completed - Carious Lesion Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Nanoparticle-incorporated Bonding Agent on Post-restorative Sensitivity

Start date: January 5, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Type of study: Randomized Clinical trial To compare post-restorative sensitivity between titania nanoparticle reinforced bonding agent and bonding agent without nanoparticles in posterior composite restorations. Participants aged 18 years and above with Class-I and Class-II Carious lesions are allocated in two groups. Group A will undergo composite restoration with Nanoparticles incorporated in bonding agent. Group B will undergo restoration without nanoparticles in bonding agent.

NCT ID: NCT05723796 Completed - Clinical trials for Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis

Study of Nasal Mucosa Histopathological Changes in Chronic Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis

Start date: July 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background:Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is an interstitial lung disease that develops after inhalation of organic or inorganic antigens in susceptible individuals. The nasal mucosa is constantly exposed to these antigens that can irritate the respiratory mucosa. Objectives: to assess the burden of sinonasal symptoms in HP patients and to evaluate the nasal histopathology in those patients.

NCT ID: NCT05706246 Completed - Drug Allergy Clinical Trials

Perioperative Hypersensitivity in Children

Start date: June 30, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

There are limited studies on perioperative hypersensitivity (POH) reactions in children. The diagnosis of POH might be underestimated due to the difficulty of recognizing the reactions. Anaphylaxis may go unnoticed due to the unconscious state of the patient. Urticaria may be overlooked due to the sterile covers. This study aimed to evaluate POH reactions prospectively.

NCT ID: NCT05702671 Completed - Allergy Clinical Trials

Kenota 1 CWS Method Comparison Validation Study

Start date: January 27, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this Method Comparison Study is to compare total IgE results obtained from at least 360 subjects aged less than 80 years old using four different testing arms comprising three types of samples and two testing methods. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Are the Kenota 1 Devices easy to use by untrained operators at a clinic environment? - Do tIgE results provided by the Kenota 1 Devices match the results provided by the FDA-cleared Phadia ImmunoCAP System? Subjects will be asked to donate two fingerstick whole blood samples and one venous blood draw.

NCT ID: NCT05698030 Completed - Allergy Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Saffety of Oral Immunotherapy to Pistachio

Start date: January 1, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The objectives of this study are (i) to evaluate the efficacy of oral immunotherapy to pistachio by evaluating the daily oral tolerance of 2g pistachio, by evaluating the long-term tolerance of 15g pistachio (sustained unresponsiveness) and by decreasing pistachio-specific IgE, (ii) evaluating the efficacy of pistachio immunotherapy on cashew tolerance, (iii) and to evaluate the safety of pistachio immunotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT05679596 Completed - Physical Inactivity Clinical Trials

Exogenous Ketosis During Bed Rest in Older Adults

KBR
Start date: February 27, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this randomized, double-blind, parallel group interventional study is to evaluate the effect of ketone bodies on healthy older adults (65-85 y) during 5 days of bed rest. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does supplementation of ketone bodies prevent the typical decline in muscle protein synthesis, muscle size, muscle function, insulin sensitivity, and muscle mitochondrial function that occurs in response to bed rest? Researchers will compare ketone supplements (KET) to an energy matched control beverage (carbohydrates and fats) to see if the ketones can rescue the decline in muscle protein synthesis rates, muscle loss, muscle function, insulin sensitivity, and mitochondrial function due to 5 days of bed rest. This may positively impact the heath of older adults subjected to bed rest.

NCT ID: NCT05677074 Completed - Clinical trials for Food Hypersensitivity

Do Patients With Fish or Shellfish Allergy Tolerate the Consumption of Fish Oil Supplements? A Clinical Study

Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this clinical study is to test whether patients with fish or shellfish allergy can ingest different types of fish oil supplements without having an allergic reaction. To achieve this, the recruited participants will be asked to: - provide a blood sample (used for Basophil Histamine Release Assay) - undergo a skin-prick-test - partake in multiple oral provocations These three tests will indicate the likelihood that the participants can consume fish oil supplements without adverse allergic reactions (See the detailed description for an explanation of the tests). The investigators will test the participants tolerance for three different types fish oil supplements: Fish oil, Cod liver oil, and krill oil.

NCT ID: NCT05661812 Completed - Clinical trials for Hypersensitivity, Immediate

Norwegian Birch Rust Allergy Study

Nor-BRA
Start date: January 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study investigates whether spores from birch rust fungi (Melampsoridium Betulinum = MB) may be the eliciting allergen in patients with seasonal airway allergy during autumn in North Norway. Patients with suspected allergy to MB are compared with non-allergic controls using data about allergic disease and daily allergic symptoms during autumn. Potential variations in allergic symptoms during season will be compared with spread of MB spores. Sensitation to MB and MB allergy are to be tested with skin prick test (SPT), measurements of spesific immunglobulin E (IgE) in serum, passive basophil activation test (pBAT) and nasal provocation test (NPT)

NCT ID: NCT05653609 Completed - Neoplasms Clinical Trials

Sensitivity and Specificity of the Clinical Classifications Generated by the Cureety Digital Telemonitoring Tool

POSITEA-VA
Start date: November 15, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Cureety is a digital telemonitoring platform specifically designed to monitor cancer patients through self-reporting of adverse events, accompany patients and their medical teams and complement existing healthcare practices. The platform aims to detect signs and symptoms of health deterioration and disease progression, allowing the medical team to intervene earlier than usual compared to conventional care. The patients are asked to respond to an electronic patient-reported outcome (ePRO) questionnaire. The digital tool is configured for each patient that generates specific questions that allow grading of adverse events relevant to their specific treatment and disease profile. At the core of the platform is the medical device "Cureety TechCare", an algorithm that outputs a "clinical classification" based on the adverse events reported by the patients. There are four levels that correspond to the patients' health states, either "critical" ("red"), "to be monitored" ("orange"), "compromised" ("yellow"), or "correct" ("green"). In the case of a red or orange classification, the patients are asked to contact their medical team. In addition, the medical team can monitor the patient classifications from a distance including receiving notifications when patients are classified red and orange. The present study was designed to retrospectively evaluate the performance of the "Cureety TechCare" medical device in real-life using data collected in the Cureety database.
