Filter by:This study is a randomized, controlled, single-blinded clinical study which conducted over six months (May to October 2016) in different Jordanian cities, where most of Syrian refugees reside. The primary aim of this study was to assess refugees' adherence and knowledge of their chronic medications, and impact of the medication management review (MMR) service delivered by a clinical pharmacist on their adherence and knowledge of their chronic medications three months following delivering the service. An informed consent form was signed by all participants who accepted to participate (n=106). Participants were then randomized into intervention and control groups. The first group would have received the medication management review service during the study period, while the to the other group directly after the study was completed (after three months' time). Two validated questionnaire were used in the study for assessment; adherence to medications questionnaire and Knowledge about chronic medications questionnaire. These questionnaire were filled by tha patients at baseline and follow up home visits.
Participants under general anesthesia will be randomly treated with an adjusted dose dopamine or norepinephrine to elevate 10% of mean arterial pressure. Systemic hemodynamic data is recorded by PRAM and the change of cardiac index is compared between groups.
Study Title The SSSH Study: SNOO Smart Sleeper Use in Post-Operative Infants with Congenital Heart Disease is a single site, cross-sectional, feasibility study of an infant smart sleeper. The Primary Objective is to evaluate the feasibility of collecting and integrating clinical data and SNOO data. The secondary Objective(s) is To assess the feasibility of conducting a future broader trial by evaluating the parents willingness to give parental permission for participation in the use of the SNOO. Research Intervention(s)/ Investigational Agent(s) SNOO Smart Sleeper from Happiest Baby, Inc.There are approximately 300 new infants per year who undergo cardiac surgery at Children's Mercy Kansas City (CMKC) who are 6 months of age and 11kg or less at the time of surgery Sample Size. A maximum of 15 patients will be enrolled for this feasibility study over the study Duration for Individual Participant Length of hospitalization on 4Sutherland, average length of stay for this patient population is 30 days.
Valvular heart diseases are significant problem in Polish population. Coexistence of coronary artery disease in patients with VHD increases the risk of death and affects further therapeutic strategy. The aim of the study is analysis the epidemiology and the long-term prognosis among patients with VHD.
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety, efficacy and optimal dose of TSG-01, an innovative drug with ginsenosides as its main components, in the treatment of patients with chronic heart failure(CHF). Preclinical studies have revealed that TSG-01 promote myocardial energy metabolism and ATP production, reduce the damage of human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cell connection, resist arrhythmia, and regulate the lipid metabolism disorder caused by myocardial ischemia. Results from CHF animal models(dog, rat) showed that TSG-01 significantly increase coronary blood supply, improve myocardial contractility, reduce heart expansion and pulmonary edema. Besides its potency of improving heart function, TSG-01 was found to induce diuresis without obvious effect on urine potassium in rats. TSG-01 has been approved by CFDA for a clinical trial on the treatment of CHF (Approval No. 2018L03012). A randomized, double-blind, multicenter, placebo-controlled phase IIa clinical trial is now being conducted in 5 hospitals in China. A total of 90 cases of CHF caused by coronary heart disease are included and randomly divided into three groups: high-dose, low-dose of TSG-01 and placebo group. NYHA functional class, 6-minute walk test(6MHWT) distance, NT-proBNP, left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), echocardiographic parameters (LVESV, LVEDV, and heart size) and MLHFQ score are measured before, during and after treatment to evaluate the benefits of TSG-01 therapy in patients with CHF.
The National Tunisian Registry of Valvulopathies is an observational, prospective and multicenter study aiming to assess the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic profile of valve disease in tunisian departments of cardiology. Cardiologists from both sectors (public and private) are participating in the study, with 37 investigational centers. Data will be captured electronically by DACIMA Clinical Suite, according to FDA 21 CFR part 11 (Food and Drug Administration 21 Code of Federal Regulations part 11), HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) & ICH (International Conference on Harmonisation) requirements.
72 patients who have been diagnosed with hypertensive bradyarrhythmia were selected and randomly divided into research group and control group. The research group received regular medication against hypertension and the personalized formulas based on syndrome differentiation, meanwhile the control group only received the regular medication. The five symptoms (palpitation, short of breath, angina, dizzy and lumbar debility) were graded and used for evaluation of treatment.
The study compares the outcome of the ultrathin stent strut Supraflex Cruz stent to the thin stent strut Ultimaster Tansei stent in a PCI population at high risk for bleeding (HBR).
Being easy, bedside, non-expensive, noninvasive and radiation free, there has been a growing interest in the implementation of lung ultrasound in critical care management in the last decade, cardiac surgery was not an exception in both adult and pediatric surgeries Many predictors for open heart surgery outcomes have been studied in past years including The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) risk score and the EuroSCORE (ES), preoperative clinical condition, associated chronic diseases, type of surgery, age, duration of cardiopulmonary bypass and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), cystatin-C A recent study described the use of a novel postoperative lung ultrasound score scanning for B lines which denote subpleural interstitial edema in various lung regions for predicting critical care length of stay in pediatric cardiac surgeries. The objective of the current study is to evaluate the role of the new lung ultrasound score in predicting the length of postoperative intensive care stay after adult open heart surgeries.
Hopelessness is associated with 3.4 times increased risk of mortality or nonfatal myocardial infarction in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD), independent of depression. Hopelessness has been identified in 27-52% of patients with IHD and can persist for up to 12 months after hospital discharge. Hopelessness, a negative outlook and sense of helplessness toward the future, can be a temporary response to an event (state) or a habitual outlook (trait). Hopelessness is associated with decreased physical functioning and lower physical activity (PA) levels in individuals with IHD. Low levels of PA independently contribute to increased death and adverse events in patients with IHD. Rates of PA in IHD patients continue to be unacceptably low in both hospital-based cardiac rehabilitation and home settings. Compounding this issue is often the symptom of hopelessness. The links among hopelessness, PA and mortality and morbidity for patients with IHD remain largely unknown, especially in rural and minority IHD patients. The purpose of this study is to delineate differences in hopelessness between urban and rural patients with IHD, as well as between racial minority, including Hispanic and Native American, and White patients with IHD. Potential mediation of urbanicity and race/ethnicity by social connectedness, a key variable in rural settings, will also be examined. A 6-month longitudinal study will be conducted at Sanford Heart Hospital and Avera Health in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Hopelessness will be measured using the State-Trait Hopelessness Scale. The results of this study have potential to transform nursing practice by providing a better understanding of hopelessness in IHD patients and informing future exercise rehabilitation studies and interventions in rural and minority populations.
