Filter by:This is a randomized trial with a crossover design to investigate the short-term effects of two different dietary patterns on markers of vascular health. A low-carbohydrate diet and a whole-food, plant-based diet will be used. In addition to more traditional markers (cholesterol, blood pressure, inflammation), endothelial progenitor cells and trimethylamine N-oxide will be assessed.
Music intervention is a non-pharmacological and effective intervention that can alleviate anxiety and agitation in patients undergoing weaning. The effectiveness of music intervention in reducing anxiety of patients in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is still unknown. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of music intervention on anxiety, agitation, sleep quality and physiological parameters on patients in ICU. This study was conducted from January to June 2019. A total of 196 hospitalized ICU patients were divided into two groups. Subjects in experimental group received 30 minutes music intervention for 3 days on bedside whereas subjects in control group received routine care only. The primary outcome was anxiety. Agitation Sedation Scale, sleep quality and physical parameters were selected to collect as secondary outcomes.There was no significant difference between the groups at baseline. The results of this study support that music can reduce anxiety and agitation levels in ICU's patient. Nurses can incorporate this intervention into the daily care in order to reduce the discomfort of patients.
This is a Phase 1, prospective, multi-center, open-label, sequential dose escalation study to explore the safety, feasibility, and efficacy of a single intracoronary infusion of BNP116.sc-CMV.I1c in patients with NYHA Class III heart failure. Patients with symptomatic congestive heart failure will be enrolled until up to 12 subjects have received infusions of investigational product. All patients will be followed until 12 months post treatment intervention, and then undergo long-term follow-up via semi-structured telephone questionnaires every 6 months for an additional 24 months (+/- 30 days).
This is a prospective, non-randomized, open label, multi-center study including 60 patients with symptomatic ischemic heart disease with 70%-100% coronary artery stenoses and occlusions enrolled and treated in this investigational device study.
Transradial approach (TRA) for cardiac catheterization and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) is increasingly being used worldwide. At the present is unknown the cocktail of agents necessary to minimize local access site complications. The investigators planned a prospective randomized clinical trial to test the superiority of verapamil vs. heparin in the reduction of access site related complications.
The purpose of the study is to assess the diagnostic performance of fully automated motion corrected (MC) first pass myocardial perfusion MRI, compared to the original non-corrected first pass myocardial perfusion images in a cohort of patients with suspected ischemic heart disease, using coronary angiography as the reference standard. It is expected that this improved comprehensive protocol for cardiac MRI be accurate at detecting significant coronary artery disease and may obviate the need for other more expensive and invasive diagnostic tests currently used.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the utility of Ischemia Modified Albumin (IMA) for risk stratification in patients presenting with chest discomfort and possible ischemic heart disease, and to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic implication for IMA for major adverse cardiac events.
