NCT ID: NCT04026815 Recruiting - Healthy Aging Clinical Trials

Health Status and Its Socio-economic Covariates of the Older Population in Poland - the Nationwide PolSenior2 Survey.

PolSenior2
Start date: January 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The PolSenior2 survey is aimed to characterise health status of old and very-old adults in Poland.

NCT ID: NCT04016090 Recruiting - Aging Clinical Trials

An Evaluation of Folic Acid to Improve Endothelial Sensitivity to Shear Stress in Seniors

Start date: May 16, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate if folic acid improves endothelial sensitivity to shear stress in post-menopausal women.

NCT ID: NCT04013022 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Risk Factor

Exercise Pressor Reflex and Lifelong Training

LEaSTCaRe
Start date: August 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Cardiovascular diseases represent the first mortality cause in the world. Ageing is considered as the most prominent risk factor for this kind of diseases. Also, hypertension represents one of the modifiable risk factors. Blood pressure response to exercise is governed by three systems: central command, baroreflex, and a feedback mechanism originating in the skeletal muscle. An abnormal cardiovascular response to exercise facilitates the occurrence of cardiovascular events. The goal of the study is to characterize the cardiovascular response in lifelong trained individuals and explore the potential benefits of endurance and strength training on cardiovascular regulation to exercise onset.

NCT ID: NCT03954899 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Mild Cognitive Impairment

Disease Modifying Potential of 5mg of Melatonin on Cognition and Brain Health in Aging

Start date: November 12, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study will examine whether 5mg melatonin (over the counter, OTC) over a 9-month period improves Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers and cognitive function in two groups of individuals: those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI+) and those who are not (MCI-). AD biomarkers will be measured from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) obtained from lumbar punctures. Cognitive function will be evaluated with routine neuropsychological tests.

NCT ID: NCT03592563 Recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

CUHK Brain Health Longitudinal Study

BHS
Start date: July 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this study is to develop a large longitudinal cohort of individuals diagnosed with or at high risk for brain diseases (both neurological and psychiatric in nature), in order to identify risk factors that contribute to neurological and psychiatric diseases over time. The investigators seek to capture relevant information from medical records, electronically administered questionnaires and follow up phone-based interviews. The investigators expect to eventually have sufficient power from our dataset to examine risk factors for a variety of brain disorders, both individually and in aggregate. Our ultimate goal is to offer scientifically validated ways to preserve and promote brain health by working with our patients' needs and tracking their progress over time.
