The Fit With Us Study

The purpose of this 32 week study is to use an innovative experimental design known as SMART (Sequential Multiple Assignment Randomized Trial), which will allow us to determine the best way to sequence the delivery of teleexercise (referred to as an adaptive intervention), combined with predictive analytics on participant adherence in a stepped program of physical activity interventions. All 257 participants will have access to a library of recorded video exercise content, and a weekly wellness article. Some participants will receive health coaching calls (1st randomization). Analytic data will be used to determine which participants are responding or not responding to the intervention. Participants not responding after 4 weeks will receive either live one on one or group exercise training (2nd randomization). After 8 weeks, the participant will receive only pre recorded exercise content and articles for another 8 weeks. After final surveys, participants will have open access to the website for another 16 weeks where we will passively observe their fitbit and website data. Diabetes Acute Complications and Health Literacy in Children

In this study, in which education on acute complications of type 1 diabetes is planned with board games based on Bandura's social learning theory, children can indirectly learn common points that they may hear about acute complications of diabetes by watching board games of other group members. In line with this theory, children's knowledge needs regarding acute complications of diabetes can be determined, and interventions can be planned to meet the determined needs of children. Thus, the level of knowledge of diabetes health literacy for acute complications of diabetes can be increased. This study will be carried out in a randomized controlled manner to evaluate the effect of educational play in children on acute complications of diabetes and health literacy.

School-based Intervention to Support Active Travel

"PULSE - School-based intervention" is a feasibility study designed to support active travel among adolescents. The curricular intervention is designed to increase the students' health literacy as well as their autonomous motivation for active travel. The intervention will last for 6 weeks during fall 2023. The first session will be delivered by a science and education center, and the consecutive sessions will be delivered by teachers. PULSE sessions will contribute to the attainment of specific competence aims related to two interdisciplinary topics, "Health and life skills" and "Sustainability", as defined in PE, social science, and science. The research question is the following: Can increased attention to the barriers and benefits of active travel increase physical activity for youths?

Developing School Health Champions to Increase Health Literacy Both in School Adolescents and Community People Through Providing Health Education by the School Nurses in Bangladesh: Community-based Pre- and Post-experimental Design

Health literacy is a person's decision-making ability to improve their quality of life and prevent diseases by accessing, understanding and applying health information. Health literacy in the adolescent's period can aid them to gain and understand health information which can bring positive health outcomes. The aim of this pilot study is to examine the efficacy of health education and school health activities provided by school nurses on improving health literacy among secondary school adolescents. The study will also examine whether health education by health champions (the adolescents) is effective in improving the health literacy of the community people, and examine whether these interventions develop awareness, improve health knowledge, empower, and change behaviors of secondary school adolescents. This intervention study aims to improve health literacy in the adolescents in Bangladesh and the school-located community. The Begum Ayesha Pilot Girl's High School in Dohar, Dhaka district will be selected as a field. First, we will place school nurses at the school, provide health checkups for both the adolescents (about n=316) and community people (about n=200), and school nurses will provide weekly health education for 3 months to the adolescents. After certifying them as "Health Champions", the health champions visit the community and provide health education activities to the community people. For both participant groups, health literacy will be measured as efficacy checking of this pilot study. Assent and informed consent will be obtained from the participants. Autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, fidelity, veracity, confidentiality, and justice of the participants will be ensured. Also, anonymity will be maintained across all stages of the study.

Health Literacy Among Youth

The linkage between lower educational levels and poorer health has been highlighted as a mechanism contributing to social inequality in health. However, more research on this mechanism among youth is needed, e.g. to ensure timing of primary prevention of diseases. Additionally, health literacy (HL) has been increasingly recognized as a means of reducing health inequalities. However, knowledge on best practice for HL interventions among youth is scarce. The aim of this project is to develop, test, and evaluate an integrated, participatory intervention to improve HL among young adults in Danish school settings.

The Effect of Health Literacy Education in Adults (HELP-e-Pulse)

The world's elderly population is increasing. It is possible to prepare for the old age period by starting to develop the level of Health Literacy (HL) in the 45-64 age group. In this context, this study is planned to be conducted as a randomized controlled study with an active control group in order to compare the effect of European Health Literacy-based education and e-Pulse education (HELP) on the level of health literacy in adults aged 45-64 with insufficient-limited health literacy. The study was planned to include a total of 140 participants from the intervention group (HELP) (n:70) and the active control group (e-Pulse) (n:70). Interactive group training consisting of six modules and 90 minutes each will be given to the HELP group. Individual e-Pulse instruction will be given to the active control group. European Health Literacy Scale scores will be considered as the primary outcome of the research. Scores from the eHealth Literacy Scale will be considered as the secondary outcome of the research.

Personalized Mobile Intervention to Reduce Exposure to Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in Adults of Child-Bearing Age

The goal of this intervention study is to determine to what extent the Million Marker (MM) program reduces users' endocrine disruption chemical (EDC) exposure levels and changes their environmental health awareness and behaviors. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Can the investigators see a reduction in EDC levels in participants' urine samples after using the MM Detect and Detox kit? - Can the investigators see a change in participants' environmental health literacy, knowledge, and behaviors after using MM's products and services? - How can Million Marker improve their app and platform to improve the user experience? Participants will collect their urine pre- and post-intervention, and will take a comprehensive exposure survey (via the MM app) before sending back their samples. This exposure survey will ask about participant's product use, diet, and lifestyle behaviors. Participants will also fill out surveys pre- and post-intervention assessing their perception of environmental health, as well as usability of the platform.
