NCT ID: NCT05530109 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy

Study of Attentional Disorders in Patients Suffering From Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy.

ATTENTIONEPIG
Start date: April 26, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Attentional disorders have been reported in neuropsychological studies evaluating patients suffering from generalized idiopathic epilepsy, but the data are disparate (in terms of test protocol). We aim to describe attentional and executive function disorder in IGE thanks to the Epitrack scale, validated in this specific population. Our secondary objective is to study the dynamic of cortical activity during an attentional task (the ANT), in order to describe the alteration of cortical networks in epileptic patients presenting with attentional disturbance.

NCT ID: NCT05529264 Recruiting - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

Human Intracranial Electrophysiology

Start date: January 17, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will enroll patients with epilepsy who are being evaluated for epilepsy surgery and have electrodes implanted in the brain and/or have electrodes on the scalp. Additionally, this study will recruit normal and online controls (participants who do not have epilepsy). Participants will be asked to participate in 1 to 2 (30-90 minutes) daily sessions designed to test aspects of human cognition such as memory, speech, language, feeling, movement, attention, sound perception, and emotions. Generally, this will involve working on a computer, looking at pictures or watching videos, and answering questions. Additionally, participants may be asked to be hooked up to additional equipment such as eye tracker, electrical stimulator, heart rate monitor, sweat monitor or other non-invasive equipment. The overall aim of this study is to use human intracranial electrophysiology (the recording of the electrical activity of the human brain) to study localization and function of the human brain.

NCT ID: NCT05520476 Recruiting - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

Neuroliten MVP System Clinical Observation Study

Start date: October 31, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is an observational study for data collection from subjects diagnosed with Epilepsy/intractable seizures. The Neuroliten MVP System will not be used for patient management or treatment decisions.

NCT ID: NCT05518578 Recruiting - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

Safety and Tolerability Study of SPN-817 in Adult Patients With Treatment Resistant Epilepsy

Start date: February 7, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate the safety and tolerability of SPN-817 in adults with treatment resistant seizures

NCT ID: NCT05517954 Recruiting - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

Cortical Excitability in Post-traumatic Epilepsy

Start date: August 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

To test whether measures of cortical excitability derived from motor cortex transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in patients with traumatic brain injury reflect heightened excitability relative to healthy controls and whether such measures can be used to distinguish patients with post-traumatic epilepsy from patients with head trauma but no epilepsy

NCT ID: NCT05512624 Recruiting - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Integrating a Mental Health Intervention Into Primary Health Care for Refugees

Start date: September 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of an evidence-based mental health intervention (Common Elements Treatment Approach) on medication adherence, behavioral improvement and clinical outcomesamong adults taking medication for hypertension, diabetes and epilepsy using a two-arm randomized wait-list controlled trial among adult refugees in Mae La camp, Thailand.

NCT ID: NCT05512130 Recruiting - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 Inhibitors: A Potential Novel Treatment for Epilepsy

Start date: August 17, 2022
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

About 30% of persons with epilepsy have seizures that do not respond to drugs. The ketogenic diet is an effective treatment option for them, but this high fat diet is strict and difficult to maintain. The properties of gliflozins, which often are used to treat type 2 diabetes, make them a potential replacement for the ketogenic diet. This pilot study will determine whether gliflozins induce ketosis and could be used to treat adults with epilepsy safely.

NCT ID: NCT05507320 Recruiting - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

Neural Circuits for Action Perception

Start date: September 1, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Study the mechanisms underlying action recognition and execution

NCT ID: NCT05503290 Recruiting - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

The Lullaby Project as a Musical Intervention for Pregnant Individuals With Epilepsy

Start date: January 23, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study's proposed intervention is the randomized participation of pregnant individuals with epilepsy in the Lullaby Project coordinated by a musical institution in Toronto. The purpose of this present study is to investigate the potential benefits of the Lullaby Project on pregnant individuals with epilepsy. Namely, effects on quality of life-related to epilepsy, symptoms of depression and anxiety, perceived stress, and feelings of empowerment.

NCT ID: NCT05500703 Recruiting - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

Brain Regions and Functional Neuronal Network Characteristics of Dexmedetomidine Analgesia

Start date: October 15, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Background: Dexmedetomidine (DEX) is a highly selective 2-adrenergic receptor agonist with significant analgesia affection. This study is planned to explore the brain regions and functional neuronal network involved in promoting analgesia of Dexmedetomidine. Methods: Select 12 patients with the proposed intraoperative MR-guided radiofrequency ablation of epilepsy. The subjects were randomized into the Dexmedetomidine group (DEX group) (n=6) and the Opioid group (OPI group) (n=6). DEX group: continuous intravenously administered 1.5 µg kg-1 h-1 dexmedetomidine 15min before anesthesia induction, continuous infusion for 15min after anesthesia induction, and then Intraoperative functional magnetic resonance imaging scanning was started. OPI group: the equivalent administered speed 0.9% sodium chloride was continuously pumped for 15min before anesthesia induction, then induce and intraoperative fMRI scanning started after continuous 30min infusion. The intraoperative fMIR scan results were compared and analyzed to find the unique analgesic brain regions of DEX, and the differences of the functional neuronal network of analgesia effect between the two groups.
