When they are not detected and they do not receive adequate intervention, they persist and become chronic, being considered precursors of other problems in adolescence and adulthood. The early onset of emotional problems, and their precursor role for other disorders, justify the need for preventive interventions as soon as possible. Since there is evidence that anxiety and depression share common underlying mechanisms, preventive programs should address shared risk factors. For this reason, the objective of this study is to test the effectiveness of an 8-session cognitive-behavioral protocol developed for Spanish children aged 4 to 6 in the educational context in a controlled trial. The objective of the program is that children improve their skills to manage their own emotions and to improve their ability to interact with other. The program will be applied ina group format and will be enriched with multimedia material that the implementer will project at various moments of the sessions.
After two earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş Pazarcık in our country, the continuation of long-term aftershocks caused repetition of psychological problems and difficulties in recovery. Social and spiritual support plays a key role in the post-traumatic recovery period. It is necessary to use psychological support methods that can be applied in a short time and whose effect can be observed in a short time in the spiritual healing and healing of traumas. The emotional freedom technique (EFT) is One of the short-term psychotherapeutic techniques and ıt can also be applied online. EFT, which can be easily applied by individuals or professionals after receiving the necessary training; Cognitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy combine elements of acupuncture point stimulation, relying on manual stimulation of acupuncture points rather than using acupuncture needles. When we look at the literature, many scientific studies have been found in which the effectiveness of EFT on anxiety, stress and depression has been evaluated, but there has been no randomized controlled study evaluating the effectiveness of EFT online on individuals who have experienced earthquakes. With this project, it is aimed to determine the effect of online Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) on stress, anxiety and depression in university students who experienced earthquakes. This study, which will be carried out as a randomized controlled experimental study, will be carried out between 16.12.2023 and 20.12.2023 by online with university students who score 17 or higher on the Beck Depression Scale. Total of 60 students with depressive symptoms will be recruited to the intervention and control groups, EFT sessions will be applied to the intervention group, and the control group will only be followed. At the beginning of the application, pre-tests (Information Form, Beck Depression Inventory, State Trait Anxiety Inventory, Perceived Stress Inventory) and at the end of the last session, post-tests will be applied for both groups. With this study, a randomized controlled study will be brought to the literature on the effectiveness of a therapeutic method such as EFT, which is a method that can be used after an earthquake, which is easy to apply, has no cost, and can be accessed online in hard-to-reach areas. Our project will both contribute to the literature and provide short and long-term benefits in practice, in terms of raising awareness of students about important mental problems such as anxiety and depression, which are likely to be experienced after the earthquake, and enabling them to continue their education in a healthy way. It is aimed to present the work planned within the project as a paper in at least one national / international congress. It is aimed to publish in journals within the scope of SCI, SCI-Expanded related to the research area. The results and outputs of the research will be shared in various media (Kırklareli University and Osmaniye Korkut Ata University website and social media accounts). By determining the stress, anxiety and depression status of university students who have experienced an earthquake, it will be possible to reduce their stress, anxiety and depression with EFT application. The fact that the application used is a short-term, effective and easy psychotherapy method will prevent the disruption of the normal education processes of the students. It will make an economic contribution by reducing the need for psychological drugs that may be needed to reduce the effects of the earthquake.
Current study will be conducted on the Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Intervention for Emotional and Behavioural Problems of Students with Visual Impairment. Mindfulness-based Intervention that is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) will be used in the current study which is adapted and translated in Urdu language; the pilot trial of MBSR will be conducted after adaptation and translation. The present study will be conducted in two phases - First phase of the study would be a cross-sectional survey in which the researcher will conduct a baseline assessment to identify psychosocial predictors such as psychological distress, parental acceptance and rejection, social support, and mindfulness which are associated with the emotional and behavioural problems of students with visual impairment. Further emotional and behavioural problems of the students with visual impairment will identify. - The second phase of the research would be a Randomized Controlled Trial in which students with Visual Impairment who has scored high on psychosocial predictors and emotional & behavioural problems would be randomly assigned to intervention & control groups to get the MBSR training. After the successful training post-assessment would be conducted to check the efficacy of MBSR. - The current study will be conducted in Rawalpindi Islamabad after obtaining permission from the relevant authorities. - Data would be collected from the students with visual impairment and their respective parents.
This is an effectiveness study into a program ("HiRO") for improving social-emotional development, self esteem and the perceived classroom peer context in primary school students (aged 4-13 years). To this end, schools are divided into three conditions based on the choice of the schools (non-randomized): 1) School As Usual, 2) HiRo without judo classes, and 3) HiRO with judo classes. In all participating schools, social-emotional skills, self-image, emotional problems, and classroom peer context are measured three times by means of questionnaires (both self-report and parent-report). In The Netherlands primary schools are obliged to offer students training in social-emotional development. Schools can decide to develop their own program or make use of existing programs delivered by third parties, such as HiRO. In this study HiRO is compared to school as usual, that is, any other program offered to promote social -emotional development than HiRO. The main questions to answer are: - What is the effect of HiRO on the development of prosocial behavior? - What is the effect of HiRO on the development of emotional problems (depression, anxiety)? - What is the effect of HiRO on self-esteem? - What is the effect of HiRO on perceived peer context? Researchers will compare HiRO with and without judo to "school as usual" testing the following hypotheses: HiRO will result in increased prosocial skills as compared to school as usual. HiRO will result in decreased emotional problems as compared to school as usual. HiRO will result in increased self-esteem as compared to school as usual. HiRO will result in improved perceived peer context as compared to school as usual.
This study will identify components for inclusion in a coping intervention package to reduce mental health problems among children exposed to high interparental conflict after parental separation/divorce. Reappraisal, distraction, and relaxation coping strategies are related to fewer mental health problems among children, making intervention components based on these strategies key candidates for inclusion in an optimized coping intervention. The primary aim is to experimentally assess the main and interactive effects of three digital intervention coping components (reappraisal, distraction, relaxation) on children's coping efficacy, emotional security, and internalizing and externalizing problems. Secondary aims are to assess indirect effects of the intervention components on children's coping efficacy, emotional security, and internalizing and externalizing problems through their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral reactions to post-separation/divorce interparental conflict events.
Children's social and emotional development is affected by their relationship with their parents. The goal of the study is to test an intervention that guides parents and children to strengthen their relational health and navigate difficult situations. This study will begin in the well-child visit in the pediatric department at MetroHealth Medical Center. Pediatricians will invite families to enroll in the study, then study personnel will administer two illustrated poem books called "Cuddle and Calm," a poetry book with tips on how to strengthen the parent-child relationship, or "Health and Safety," a poetry book with tips on how to avoid injuries. This intervention is based on the construct of emotional connection as studied by Martha G Welch MD, who developed the Welch Emotional Connection Screen (WECS) along with Amie Hane PhD. The WECS-Parent Report (WECS-PR) is a likert scale parent-report screen with items regarding the domains featured in the WECS.
The aim of this project is to get a better understanding of transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) people's experiences of minority joy and minority stress over time. Further, the project explores how these experiences covary with psychiatric and physical ill health and quality of life before, during and after a TGNC affirmative intervention in adult and adolescent participants over 15 years of age. The intervention consists of three parts, given in randomized order: 1. Psychoeducation and behavioral interventions about external minority stress, 2. Cognitive interventions targeting worry, and 3. Self-compassion aiming to relieve internalized transphobia. This project uses a mixed methods data collection consisting of interviews as well as a replicated single case design (SCED). More detailed pre- and post measurements will also be collected. The interviews enable us to explore minority joy in detail, as well as getting feedback about the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention. The SCED enables us to visualize the interplay between everyday experiences and health, while testing the affirmative program. The project will provide much needed knowledge, which in turn will improve health in TGNC people.
Emotional and behavioral problems not only affect the Child's life but also have long-lasting effects on families and society and few studies have been carried out to assess these problems. During the critical phase of childhood, a child may face many emotional and social pressures that can develop physical, behavioral, social, and academic problems, negatively impacting on child's school performance, social involvement, self-esteem along with other serious mental health issues. There is a relationship between traditional parenting practices (such as parental control, love, and rejection) and emotional problems of children including depression and anxiety but very little is known about the role of mindful parenting. Globally, many studies have been done on the prevalence of emotional and behavioral problems in children, whereas relatively little is known about the prevalence of child mental health problems and related risk factors in Pakistan. One of the treatments that they are using these days to provide the developmentally appropriate and therefore effective intervention that meets the mental health needs of children is Cognitive Behavior Play Therapy and mindful parenting.
Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the Effect of Emotional Freedom Technique on Premenstrual Syndrome. Methodology: The research will be conducted as a randomized controlled trial. The research will be carried out with students studying at the Department of Midwifery, Faculty of Health Sciences, İnönü University, between September and October 2022. The sample size of the study was calculated as 102 people with an effect size of 0.80 and a power of 0.95. Premenstrual syndrome scale will be applied to all students participating in the research first and those who score 110 and above will be listed. Experimental and control groups will be determined by randomization. Personal information form, subjective experience unit scale and premenstrual syndrome scale will be used to collect data. SPSS 22.0 package program will be used in the evaluation of the data. The independent variable of the research is the emotional liberation technique. The dependent variable of the study is the mean scores of the participants from the subjective experience unit scale and premenstrual syndrome scale.
The general objective of the study is to test an online platform for the prevention of emotional disorders in children aged 8-12 without any clinical symptoms.
