Support for Physical Activity in Everyday Life With Parkinson's Disease

This study aims to determine the effects of a motor-cognitive exercise intervention, delivered in the home environment using eHealth methods, among people with Parkinson's disease. The intervention will support and motivate motor training, combined with cognitive training, aimed at attentional and executive functions, among people at mild-moderate disease stages. The main hypothesis is that unsupervised motor-cognitive training in the home environment using eHealth will lead to improvements in gait performance, increased physical activity levels and improved perceived health.

Mobile Application for Bariatric Surgery Patients

Introduction: One of the alternative ways, as a result of the increasing demand for health services and the inadequacy of meeting the increasing needs, is mobile health applications. According to TUIK 2019 data, the rate of having mobile phones in households is 98.7%. With the development of technology, all information can be integrated into the mobile phone, and mobile applications allow the patient to give data from the environment in which he lives and to evaluate himself. Self-assessment and monitoring of the patient enable the patient to participate in his/her self-care, supports self-management behaviors, and improves their quality of life. Objective: It was aimed to develop a mobile support application for patients undergoing bariatric surgery and to evaluate the effect of application use on patients' self-management, quality of life, and clinical outcomes. Method: In the first stage; - Preparing the information to be included in the mobile health application that is planned to be developed and evaluating the quality of the content, - Parallel to this, the adaptation of the "Bariatric Surgery Self-Management Behaviors Scale" into Turkish and the evaluation of its validity and reliability. - Design of the mobile application, transferring the educational content to the mobile application, - It is aimed to evaluate the technical suitability and usability of the mobile application. In the second stage, it was aimed to conduct a randomized controlled study to determine the effect of the developed mobile application on the self-management, quality of life and clinical outcomes of the patients. The developed mobile application will be introduced to patients at discharge after bariatric surgery. Rating scales will be administered to patients at the end of one, three, and six months after surgery. These scales are the Bariatric Surgery Self-Management Behaviors Scale and the Moorehead-Ardelt Quality of Life Scale-II. Conclusion: It is expected that the mobile application-based education to be developed for bariatric surgery will improve the patients' post-surgical self-management, increase their quality of life and decrease the early complication rates.

In 2019, it was reported that there were 27.9 million smart phone users and 93.7 million phone subscribers in Egypt. This means that mHealth (which is the use of mobile phones in delivering health-care and public health services) could be a major asset to delivering oral health education to the secluded rural areas or the more under privileged remote areas in the future. However, in order to employ mHealth effectively, it's essential to estimate the percentage of users who, not only have access to mobile technology, but are also willing to utilize mHealth interventions. It is also of great importance to understand the patients' preferences regarding its use. This is in order to tailor an intervention that satisfies their needs for oral health related services. Therefore the aim of this study is to determine the access of Egyptian women to mobile phones, as well as their willingness to utilize mHealth interventions for oral health promotion.

This article uses the smart medical case management tracking system, combined with various terminal devices to fully record the measured data (pulse, blood pressure) for case home care tracking to prevent the occurrence and deterioration of the disease. Therefore, with the promotion of the eHealth medical staff and members of the family can instantly grasp the health of the body and cultivate the habits of self-health management and enhance the quality of care. Therefore, we hope to use the Smart Health Cloud as an interventional measure to improve the care of patients with coronary artery disease, improve self-management ability and quality of life.

One Year Home Monitoring and Treatment of IBS Patients

The purpose of this study Is to evaluate if a 4 weeks probiotic VSL#3 treatment and a strict LFD for 4 weeks are equally good in treating IBS symptoms in IBS patients with diarrhoea or mixed predominance and further evaluate the long term effect. Hopefully this one year individualized web-based IBS study will generate a fundament that could be used as a treatment in the primary care/sector to IBS patients.This one year study will be carried out based on an eHealth platform ibs.constant-care.com. Patients will self-measure on the web-program the first 4 weeks before randomization. The patients will fill out different questionnaires regarding symptom severity, adherence, stool consistency and frequency, quality of life, disease course type, food registration and weight. Nearly all of the questionnaires are illustrated to the patients in a traffic light manner (Green, Yellow and Red). They will also self-measure Fecal calprotectin on their smart phones and send in fecal samples for microbiome analysis. In this randomized cross over study - 104 IBS patients will be randomized to either a diet low in FODMAPs (fermentable, oligo-, di- and monosaccharides and polyols, LFD) or the probiotic product VSL#3® for 4 weeks. The probiotic group will receive 2 sachets a day (450 billions live bacteria in one sachet) for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks intervention (LFD or VSL#3) non responders, defined as a reduction of less than 50 points in IBS-SSS will after two weeks wash out period be crossed over. IBS patients randomized to LFD and responds to LFD will after a reintroduction counselling with dieticians at North Zealand university hospital after 4 weeks on a strict LFD start reintroducing high FODMAP foods until symptom flare (individual defined as either Yellow or Red, >175 in IBS-SSS). Hereafter they will go on a strict LFD again until symptom remission (IBS-SSS below 175, Green zone) - LFD responders will continue with this procedure for 10 months. IBS patients initially randomized to VSL#3 and are after 4 weeks of intervention characterized as responders will not be offered a LFD. Instead they will self- measure on the web with no intervention after the 4 weeks of VSL#3 treatment. When/if they reach a symptom flare ( again individually defined as either Yellow or Red, >175 point in IBS-SSS) they will be offered another 4 weeks VSL#3 treatment.

Long Term Effect of Web-based Low FODMAP Diet and Probiotic Treatment VSL#3 on IBS Symptoms and Gut Microbiota

Computer-assisted Instruction Before Colonoscopy is as Effective as Nurse Counselling, a Controlled Trial

Better patient education prior to colonoscopy improves adherence to instructions for bowel preparation and leads to cleaner colons. The hypothesis of this trial is that computer assisted instruction (CAI) using video and 3D animations can maximize the effectiveness of nurse counselling and consequently improves bowel cleanliness. Furthermore, CAI will positively influence the patient experience. Adults referred for colonoscopy were included in a Dutch large volume endoscopy unit. Exclusion criteria were illiteracy in Dutch and audiovisual handicaps. Patients were prospectively divided into two groups, one receiving nurse counselling and one receiving CAI and a nurse contact before colonoscopy. The main outcome, cleanliness of the colon during examination, was measured with the Ottawa Bowel Preparation Scale (OBPS) and the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS). Patient comfort and anxiety were assessed at multiple time points: directly after the instruction and one hour before colonoscopy. Comfort was rescored 2 hours after colonoscopy. We also tested knowledge and comprehension one hour before colonoscopy. Statistical analyses included Mann-Whitney.
