Filter by:The current cohort study of 300 stable COPD patients aims to assess the following topics: - The prevalence of anxiety and depressive disorders in patients with COPD - The screening properties of Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale in patients with COPD - The prognostic influence by anxiety or depressive symptoms and anxiety or depressive disorder. - whether characterization of 1) affective aspects of dyspnea symptoms or 2) persistent styles of thinking (worry or rumination) and metacognitions that drive these may improve the current recommendation of screening for anxiety and depression in COPD in relation to its clinical relevance on functional status and three year outcome
Adults with substance use disorder (SUD) tend to have started smoking at a younger age and are more likely to be heavy smokers. Due to the many conflicting priorities in this population, smoking cessation is often relegated and ignored by both patients and their healthcare providers. As of 2008, only 2 out of 5 addiction treatment providers in the US offered behavioral treatment for smoking cessation, and less than 1 in 5 offered pharmacotherapy. However, many researchers have found that smoking cessation has positive effects on abstinence from other drugs, as smoking appears to increase craving for and the likelihood of using drugs. Contingency Management is a highly-effective, evidence based methodology demonstrated to be effective at reducing the use of all types of substances in over 100 randomized controlled trials and 7 meta-analyses. BrightView, an outpatient substance abuse treatment center with several locations across the state of Ohio, has partnered with DynamiCare Health to implement DynamiCare's innovative digital Contingency Management (CM) platform among BrightView's outpatient population of primarily low-income substance use disorder patients with comorbid nicotine dependence/tobacco use disorder. DynamiCare's platform automates Contingency Management to support smoking cessation interventions via smartphone app. This app rewards participants for negative substance tests and appointment attendance (using GPS tracking) to incentivize abstinence and promote engagement in treatment. The goal of this study is to reduce tobacco disparities for low-income adult participants using DynamiCare's digital intervention, and to build a rapidly scalable, sustainable process that makes the field of smoking cessation more effective, accountable, and accessible.
Twenty participants, age 18 or older, who meet Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) criteria for moderate to severe Alcohol Use Disorder will be randomized to open-label psilocybin (25 mg) therapy with the Visual Healing Set and Setting platform (N=10) versus psilocybin (25 mg) with a standard Set and Setting platform (N=10). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and tolerability of adding Visual Healing, a nature-themed virtual immersive program, to psilocybin-assisted therapy among participants with alcohol use disorder.

CORIA is an observational cohort study of immunosuppressed populations who test positive for COVID-19. This includes people living with HIV, cancer, acquired immunodeficiency associated with other immunosuppressive therapy, primary immunodeficiency and recipients of a solid organ transplant. Participants will have routine clinical data collected with optional baseline collection and storage of a blood sample for storage . The study will be conducted in up to 30 sites within Australia.
This study will find the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of CYNK-001 which contain NK cells derived from human placental CD34+ cells and culture-expanded. CYNK-001 cells will be given post Autologous Stem Cell Transplant (ASCT). The safety of this treatment will be evaluated, and researchers will want to learn if NK cells will help in treating Multiple Myeloma.
This randomized clinical trial will compare participants who receive HaRTC versus the nontreatment control arm to see if HaRTC helps urban American Indians and Alaska Natives who meet criteria for an alcohol use disorder to increase their engagement in cultural practices, enhance their quality of life, and reduce their alcohol-related harm.
In this open clinical trial, 30 subjects with inadequately controlled T2D and eligible, as per good clinical practice, for therapy with SGLT-2 inhibitor, will be randomized to receive a SGLT-2 inhibitor vs other oral-antidiabetic drugs (OADs) therapy for 3 months. Measures will be performed at baseline, after 2 days, after one month and at the end of the study protocol, as per good clinical practice
Women with gestational diabete (GD) who do not meet glycemic control objectives with diet will be assigned to two treatment groups randomly. One: metformin at a dose of 850-2550mg every 24h; two: insulin detemir associated or not with rapid insulin analogue (aspart) according to your glycemic controls. The Metformin group may additionally receive insulin in a second time in case the glycemic control is not appropriate with monotherapy.
Bipolar disorder (BD), especially BD type I, is a highly prevalent mental disorder and a is a highly prevalent mental disorder and an important factor for suicide. Lithium is the key treatment for prevention of BD relapse and has a proven suicide prevention effect. Whilst many cases become asymptomatic with lithium treatment, the majority show sub-optimal response. The objectives of this project are to: - improve outcomes of bipolar I disorder (BDI) cases prescribed lithium through the application of stratified approaches - optimize the early prediction of lithium response using a set of multi-modal biomarkers ("blood omics", Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Li7-Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy derived-markers) - develop a multidisciplinary multinational network of experts to undertake this and future projects on personalized diagnostics and therapeutics and - implement new, powerful technologies to characterize brain lithium distribution and the blood molecular signature of lithium in responders and non-responders. This cutting edge approach will identify the eligibility criteria for treatment with lithium in BD in terms of response, safety and tolerability.
