The main objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of CROCUVIS® in computer vision syndrome, sleep and mood disorders in a sample of university students who use digital devices.
Stroke is the third leading cause of disability worldwide, with the hand being one of the segments whose affectation generates the greatest limitation in functional ability and quality of life. Neurorehabilitation is the most effective therapy as long as it is implemented both in the early (post-hospital stages) and in an intensive approach. However, the resources of healthcare systems are not enough to address the neurorehabilitation needs of patients with hand affectation after stroke. Thus, current scientific literature advocates transferring such rehabilitation to the patient's home through therapeutic exercise programs - whose clinical and economic effectiveness has already been demonstrated - as a way of reducing the consumption of resources. In order to achieve this, telerehabilitation is suggested as one of the most viable formats. However, current telerehabilitation systems such as video games and virtual reality do not provide a fully viable solution, mainly due to the lack of scalability and penetration of the technology, and the lack of a hand specific approach, whose importance is crucial in the recovery of function and autonomy in Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Different articles and reviews confirm the potential of tablet devices to solve these issues given their scalability and the multisensory feedback provided, making possible a more productive and intensive motor training and sensory stimulation in order to optimize cortical reorganization and neuroplasticity after a stroke. Both health professionals and patients have expressed the need for a specific Tablet application for neurorehabilitation of the hand after stroke, that follows the precepts established by the evidence. However, the lack of specific applications for this approach means that existing apps are used as an adaptation. Therefore, we propose the development and preliminary validation of ReHand, the first Tablet application developed according to the needs of healthcare professionals and patients, and the precepts of the most updated scientific literature, which allows the patient to perform an active therapy adapted to its hand limitations, and the healthcare professional to monitor their patient's home performance.
The overall aim of the study is to explore substance use, tobacco use and lifestyle-related health problems among ageing patients in Opioid Maintenance Treatment (OMT), and other SUD treatment. The study will use already collected data from the multi-center, longitudinal, observational NorComt study (Norwegian Cohort of Patients in Opioid Maintenance Treatment and Other Drug Treatment study). NorComt is the largest longitudinal study of SUD patients in Norway. The data consists of data from OMT and other substance use disorders (SUD) treatment (N=548).
The aim of the present study is to evaluate the impact of vestibular rehabilitation on metabolic aspects when evaluated by means of bioelectrical impedenzometry analysis, smart watch device and actigraphy in a group of vestibular hypofunction patients previously studied by means of video head impulse test, posturography and clinical validated scales
The study aims at evaluating the feasibility and the efficacy of the Teen On-line Problem Solving program (TOPS) in improving executive functioning and behavior problems in adolescents with neurological condition aged 11-19 years. In order to control for placebo effects, participants are randomized into two intervention conditions. Group 1 performs the regular version of the TOPS, while Group 2 performs a modified version containing no activities on executive functions, behavioral strategies and social skills.
Millions of people in the US misuse opioids each year, leading to thousands of deaths and costing billions of dollars in total economic burden. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD) is highly efficacious, but only a fraction of OUD persons access MAT, and treatment non-adherence is common and associated with poor outcomes. This STTR Fast Track proposal is designed to increase rates of Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) treatment initiation and adherence among OUD patients recruited from emergency and inpatient acute care. To accomplish these aims, the project will enhance the Opioid Addiction Recovery Support (OARS), an existing Q2i company technology, with a new evidence-based reward, contingency management (CM) function. CM interventions systematically reward (reinforce) specific behaviors like treatment initiation and adherence with therapy attendance and drug-free urine tests and are highly efficacious. An OARS solution enhanced with a CM component (OARSCM) that allows for the automatic calculation, delivery, and redemption of rewards contingent on objective evidence of treatment behaviors may be key to improving Suboxone initiation and adherence. In Phase 1 of this proposal, the existing OARS clinician portal and patient mobile application will be modified to accommodate entry into the software system from an acute care setting and to automatically manage and deliver rewards to create OARSCM using patient-centered design principles. Focus groups with OUD patients and other key stakeholders will inform design. Primary usability outcomes will be examined, and the program iteratively updated. After meeting milestones, there was a proof-of-concept pilot of usability, acceptability, and effects on initial behavior targets with approximately 20 patients and at least 4 providers.
This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Attachment Regulation and Competency (ARC) treatment framework in comparison to treatment as usual for reducing symptoms of PTSD and Developmental Trauma Disorder among children ages 8 to 16 with a history of exposure to multiple traumatic events.
This study is aimed to investigate the effectiveness of functional power training on attention, gross and fine motor skill, participation and quality of life in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) by comparing traditional strength training and their healthy peers. In the literature, there are limited studies that investigate the effect of power exercise in children with ADHD. But there is no randomized controlled trial include power exercises which is designed to the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) criteria and investigate the effects on attention, gross and fine motor skill, participation and quality of life in children with ADHD. This study hypothesizes that power exercises could improve attention, gross and fine motor skill, participation, and quality of life better than traditional strength training in children with ADHD.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate an online educational tool that will help individuals better understand alcohol use disorder, risk factors, and genetic risk information and to better understand participant's beliefs regarding alcohol use disorder. This study does not involve genetic testing. Investigators will not be giving participants any personalized genetic feedback as part of the study; however, investigators will ask participants to imagine that they receive different hypothetical genetic risk scores and respond to survey items.
Parents of children with haemophilia will be invited to complete 3 questionnaires to look for traits present in ASD. With consent teacher will complete a further 2 questionnaires. If all 3 questionnaires are above threshold, then with consent of the family the child will be referred for further investigation. There are already pre-existing children with ASD who will be exempt from the study, but included in the data analysis of prevalence. The results of the 3 questionnaires will be used to identify a profile of social communication in children with haemophilia.
