NCT ID: NCT00062231 Terminated - Lymphoma Clinical Trials

Moxifloxacin Compared With Ciprofloxacin/Amoxicillin in Treating Fever and Neutropenia in Patients With Cancer

Start date: April 2002
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Antibiotics such as amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin, and moxifloxacin may be effective in preventing or controlling fever and neutropenia in patients with cancer. It is not yet known whether moxifloxacin alone is more effective than amoxicillin combined with ciprofloxacin in treating neutropenia and fever. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying how well moxifloxacin works and compares it to ciprofloxacin together with amoxicillin in treating neutropenia and fever in patients with cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00042887 Terminated - Bladder Cancer Clinical Trials

Chemotherapy With or Without Surgery in Treating Patients With Bladder Cancer

Start date: May 2002
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Infusing chemotherapy drugs directly into the bladder may kill more cancer cells. It is not yet known if surgery followed by chemotherapy is more effective than chemotherapy alone in treating bladder cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of chemotherapy alone with that of transurethral resection followed by chemotherapy in treating patients who have bladder cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00025298 Terminated - Clinical trials for Head and Neck Cancer

Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy With or Without Amifostine in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced Cancer of the Nasopharynx

Start date: July 2001
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining radiation therapy with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. Giving chemoprotective drugs such as amifostine may protect normal cells from the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to compare the effectiveness of paclitaxel and carboplatin followed by cisplatin plus radiation therapy with or without amifostine in treating patients who have locally advanced cancer of the nasopharynx.

NCT ID: NCT00002899 Terminated - Metastatic Cancer Clinical Trials

Adjuvant Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Brain Metastases

Start date: November 1996
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Adjuvant radiation therapy may kill any remaining tumor cells following surgery or radiosurgery for brain metastases. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying surgery or radiosurgery alone to see how well it works compared to surgery or radiosurgery and whole-brain radiation therapy in treating brain metastases in patients with solid tumors.
