There are about 8563 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Sweden. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This is a multi-center, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel group study designed to confirm the benefits of mepolizumab treatment on moderate or severe exacerbations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) participants given as an add on to their optimized maintenance COPD therapy. The maximum duration of participant participation is approximately 109 weeks, consisting of 2 screening visits (up to 3 weeks), a run-in period (up to 2 weeks), and an intervention period of at least 52 weeks and up to 104 weeks. 800 participants will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive mepolizumab 100 milligrams (mg) or placebo every 4 weeks for at least 13 doses (52 weeks treatment period) up to a maximum of 26 doses (104 weeks treatment period). The number of randomized participants may increase up to approximately 1400.
The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of TAK-788 as first-line treatment with that of platinum-based chemotherapy in participants with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors has epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 20 insertion mutations. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups- TAK-788 group or Platinum-based chemotherapy group. Participants will receive TAK-788 orally and pemetrexed/cisplatin or pemetrexed/carboplatin via vein until the participants experience worsening disease (PD) as assessed by blinded independent review committee (IRC), intolerable harmful effects or another discontinuation criteria.
Study objectives To establish whether an oral intake of Capsicum oleoresin; capsaicinoids expressed as 0.4 mg capsaicin (C18H27N03; Mw: 305.4) in each capsule (from chili extract) can desensitise the cough reflex and improve unexplained coughing. Study period - Estimated Start date (first patient enrolled) June 2019 - Estimated End date (last patient completed follow up) June 2020 - First data available for presentation September 2020 Investigational product/comparator The formulation is prepared from Capsicum oleoresin. Each capsule will contend a dose corresponding to 0.4 mg capsaicin. All test methods are as per the European Pharmacopoeia for Capsicum oleoresin refined and standardised. - The formulation is developed by Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE), Sodertalje, Sweden - Supplier of raw material for the Capsicum oleoresin product/IMP: RANSOM; Ltd, London, UK - Producer of capsules with Capsicum oleoresin and placebo: by Catalent Pharma Solutions, St Petersburg, Florida, USA - Packing bottles of capsules with the investigational medical product (IMP) and placebo: by Apotek Produktion & Laboratorier AB (APL), Stockholm, Sweden Study design Capsules, taken orally, with standardised doses of Capsicum oleoresin corresponding to 0.4 mg pure capsaicin (from chili extract) in each capsule in comparison to matched capsules with placebo (sorbitol and colorant), all capsules looking the same. Four weeks of active treatment is compared to four weeks of placebo. In between there is a wash out period of two weeks. The time frame is 24 hours + 10 weeks. During the first 24 hours the patients carry a cough recorder (Leicester Cough Monitor - LCM) and then start with 4 weeks of active treatment or placebo. This is followed by 2 weeks of wash out and then the patients start with another 4 weeks of active treatment or placebo. After this the study ends. Collaboration Professor Alyn Morice MD, PhD, chief physician at Hull York Medical School, University of Hull, UK. Professor Surinder Birring MD, Senior Lecturer, specialist in respiratory medicine, Imperial College, London, UK. Associate professor Alastair Ross,PhD, Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. Study center and number of subjects planned All clinical trials take place at the asthma and allergy clinic, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden from where 60 patients with chronic idiopathic cough (CIC) are recruited.
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of treatment with olaparib (MK-7339) in combination with pembrolizumab (MK-3475) in adults with previously treated, advanced (metastatic and/or unresectable) Homologous Recombination Repair Mutation (HRRm) and/or Homologous Recombination Deficiency (HRD)-positive solid tumors.
This Phase II trial will enroll approximately 180 adult male patients with an earlier histologic diagnosis of prostatic adenocarcinoma and a biochemical recurrence (BCR) within 3 years of radical prostatectomy (RP) or definitive RT and no distant metastasis or locoregional recurrence. The trial is a randomized placebo-controlled double-blind study of a peptide cancer vaccine (RV001V).
Handball is reported to be top 5 in Europe when it comes to sports injuries. There are few studies based on player reported data, and earlier Swedish data is mainly based on data from Insurance ´companies and mostly acute injuries. Earlier data lack the overuse injuries and number of injuries are taught to be underreported. This epidemiological study has the objective to create research based knowledge about the injury panorama within Swedish handball with special interest in head-injuries in the elite level. By using a mobile application "AIM Control", a retrospective weekly registration of handball related injuries was recorded together with self-assessed injury impact. Also data about sports/exercise exposure, other causes that could affect the players ability to practice/play matches, self-rated recovery before next practice/match as well as positive and negative affects will be analyzed. Special emphasis is given to self-reported head injuries and the symptoms that the player might experience during the handball season 2019/2020. Data about symptom severity will be collected and analyzed together with AIM Controls other variables i.e. duration of symptoms and time to return-to-play. In case of a head-injury the Medical support team is contacted in order to describe the event, and interviewed with standardized questions about their thinking and action about how head injuries should be managed and prognosis of time to recovery and how to decide when a player is ready to play again? This is part of the AIM Control study called SWECON - handball.
The SyncAV Post-Market Trial is a prospective, randomized, multi-center trial performed to determine if cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices programmed with SyncAV ON improve long-term CRT response compared to devices programmed with conventional CRT through evaluation of changes in left ventricular (LV) reverse remodeling.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of nivolumab adjuvant immunotherapy compared to placebo in adults and pediatric participants after complete resection of Stage IIB/C melanoma with no evidence of disease (NED) who are at high risk for recurrence.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety, pharmacokinetics and preliminary efficacy of combination treatment of ruxolitinib with 5 novel compounds: siremadlin, crizanlizumab, sabatolimab, rineterkib and NIS793 in myelofibrosis (MF) subjects.
The purpose of this study is to collect clinical evidence on valve performance and procedural outcomes associated with an "optimized" TAVR care pathway and post-TAVR conduction disturbance pathway while using the Evolutâ„¢ PRO and Evolutâ„¢ PRO+ devices. The purpose of the addendum is to collect post-market clinical evidence on valve performance and procedural outcomes associated with the Evolut FX Device.
