The Value of an Extended Postnatal Program.

The objective was to study and evaluate earlier and extended postpartum care visits (week 3 and 7) compared to the current structure of one traditional visit 7 weeks postpartum. In Sweden there is an organized system of antenatal and postnatal care based on local maternity clinics that are run by midwives who collaborate with obstetricians and surrounding hospitals. Pregnant women are regularly assessed by a midwife during their antenatal care. If complications occur, they are assessed by an obstetrician at the maternity clinic or at the nearest hospital. Postnatally a follow up visit to the same maternity clinic is offered usually about 6-12 weeks postpartum. Nowadays a healthy primigravid woman with a full-term pregnancy and a healthy child leaves the hospital within 6-24 hours postpartum. Many women experience the time between leaving the hospital until the postnatal follow up visit as too long. It is described that women missing early feedback regarding the experience of giving birth, breastfeeding, the transition of parenthood and sometimes physical examination.The eligible women enrolled were asked if they wanted to voluntarily participate in the trial about postpartum care.The women participating were recruited in pregnancy week 37 and offered to join, and if interested randomly divided into one of two groups. One control group who received a traditional postpartum care visit, that is one visit to a midwife 7 weeks postpartum, and one intervention group where the participating women were invited to two visits to the midwife; 3 weeks postpartum and then an additional visit 7 weeks postpartum. At the end of the visits both in the intervention group and in the control group the women completed a questionnaire given them via a Quick Response-code (QR-code) to fill in on their mobile phone. The questionnaire contained questions regarding delivery, breastfeeding, satisfaction with recieved care, evaluation of postpartum care offered, satisfaction with the visit and birth control. The hypothesis is that two visits (week 3 and 7) will have an impact on womens health, wellbeing, satisfaction and contraceptive use postpartum.

In order to improve and individualize cancer treatment, personalized treatment needs to be developed much further. Liver metastasizing colorectal cancer is treated with a combination of oncological and surgical interventions. The selection of chemotherapy is today mainly done according to best guess. Today only a small fraction of oncological treatment may be known to be effective in a person before treatment start, most often it is trial and error. A fast reliable system for looking at response to different treatments in each unique patient is much needed and would, if successful, completely change the way we give oncological treatment today. Patient's tumor tissue will be evaluated with use of zebrafish embryo avatars to evaluate tumour growth and response to different combinations of chemotherapy. If successful interventional studies are planned.

Metabolic Characterization of Patients With Dilated Cardiomyopathy

The overall aim of the study is to explore the energy metabolism of the failing heart. Primary objective is to understand the differences in the energy metabolism in patients with DCM and heart failure compared to matched controls without heart failure. Secondary objectives, is to understand if optimal medical therapy, including sodium-gucose transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), alter the cardiac metabolism in DCM-patients. The investigators will also examine if changes in cardiac metabolism happens during exercise in patients with DCM. This will be done with invasive measurements of a range of energy substrate metabolites in the coronary sinus of the heart in patients with heart failure due to DCM and controls without heart failure respectively. A range of other clinical characteristics will also be examined to characterize patients and controls.

Tinzaparin And Biomarkers After Neoadjuvant Treatment of Ovarian Cancer

Background: Previous findings have indicated antineoplastic properties of tinzaparin (Innohep®), a commonly used anti-coagulant. Earlier studies have mainly investigated the antineoplastic effects of tinzaparin in animal models and in human cell-lines. In this pilot study the aim is to examine the potential antitumoral effects of tinzaparin in vivo in women with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Study objectives: Primary objective: The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the effects of tinzaparin on changes in levels of CA-125 in EOC patients who receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). Secondary objectives: The secondary objective of the study is to explore the impact of tinzaparin on the dynamic of a spectrum of immunological and coagulation factors in EOC patients who receive NACT. Besides, the compliance of tinzaparin injections and adverse events caused by tinzaparin will be described.

The study has two parts: Part 1: To evaluate, for adult female patients diagnosed with chronic widespread pain (including fibromyalgia), the effects of Free Movement Dance as an add-on intervention after interdisciplinary pain management/rehabilitation at a specialist pain clinic versus modified person-centered progressive resistance exercise. The cognitive-behavioural conceptualization of pain, effects on pain intensity, physical function, self-efficacy, pain catastrophizing, health related quality of life, anxiety and depression symptoms and quality of sleep will be evaluated. Part 2: To develop a theoretically informed understanding of the processes of Free Movement Dance as an add-on intervention after interdisciplinary pain management/rehabilitation at a specialist pain clinic for adult female patients diagnosed with chronic widespread pain (including fibromyalgia).
