According to the Polish governmental statistics migration of people from Ukraine to Poland is growing and only in year 2020 have come to Poland about a quarter of a million of Ukrainian migrants. As well, more than 40% of those diagnosed with HIV infection in the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) in 2018 were also migrants, originating from countries with generalized HIV epidemics, such as Ukraine. Antiretroviral treatment should be started, based, among others, on epidemiological data and evidence of presence of drug resistance mutations in a the population.

Determining the Impact of Air Pollution on the Developing Brain

- Background: Recent studies have linked exposure to airborne particulate matter (PM) to neurodevelopmental outcomes but the findings are mixed and mechanisms are unclear. We aim to determine the impact of PM on the developing brain of schoolchildren in Poland, a European country characterized by very high levels of air pollution. The investigators aim to determine the impact of PM on the developing brain of schoolchildren in Poland, a European country characterized by very high levels of air pollution. - Study area: 19 towns in three voivodeships (Lesser Poland, Silesian, Opole) in the southern Poland. To reduce confounding by urbanicity and at the same time, to achieve sufficient contrasts in PM levels without too high logistic costs, towns were selected by size (big and small) and by PM levels (high, medium and low). - Design: Case-control study with 800 children recruited over two school years, with two population controls per one ADHD case. Suspected cases will be recruited in specialized facilities and presumably ADHD-free children will be recruited in primary schools. - Exposure assessment: Poland-wide PM and other air pollutants' grids will be created for the years 2006 to 2021 using statistical models to incorporate land use data, estimates from transport models, satellite observations and air pollution measurements from Polish monitoring network. Prenatal, early-life, lifelong and concurrent exposures will be calculated. - Psychological testing: Every child and their parents will complete a series of psychological tests and interviews that will be conducted during their three visits to the recruitment facility. - Neuroimaging: Each participant will undergo a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanning session that will be performed accordingly to the Human Connectome Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development project recommendations. Scanning will be performed on a single scanner in Krakow.

Comparison of Zenker's Diverticulum Treatment Using Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy and Flexible Endoscopy Septotomy.

The Zenker's or pharyngo-esophageal diverticulum is an acquired sac-like outpouching of the mucosa and submucosa layers located dorsally at the pharyngoesophageal junction through Killian's dehiscence. It is the most common type of oesophageal diverticula and typically occurs in middle-aged and elderly patients. Patients have a significantly reduced quality of life index and numerous complications. Treatment is recommended for symptomatic patients and considering the aetiopathogenesis of the disease demands myotomy of the cricopharyngeal muscle. Myotomy may be pursued through either open surgical or endoscopic techniques. There is a novel technique, called the peroral endoscopic myotomy (Z-POEM) for treatment of Zenker's diverticulum. The ZIPPY trial designed as prospective, international, multicenter, double-blind, randomized study which will be carried out by experienced endoscopists. The aim of this study will be to evaluate the results of Zenker's diverticulum treatment using peroral endoscopic myotomy and to compare its efficacy and safety to flexible endoscopy septotomy. Patients at least 18 years old with symptomatic Zenker's diverticulum diagnosed on the basis of endoscopic and radiological examinations will be enrolled.

A multicentre randomized health services study within the population-based primary colonoscopy screening program (PCSP) in Poland. Individuals, aged 55-60 years, willl be randomized in a 1:1:1 ratio to arms: (1) Invitation by post, (2) Call Center or (2) Combined invitation methods. The primary outcome measure is rate of participation in screening colonoscopy. The sample size of 6 300 participants will detect 3 to 5 percentage point differences (depending on the arms comparison) in participation rate between groups with 80% power and significance level 0.05, using Ochran-Mantel-Haenszel test.
