NCT ID: NCT00243178 Terminated - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

Atrial Fibrillation Clopidogrel Trial With Irbesartan for Prevention of Vascular Events (ACTIVE W)

Start date: July 2003
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine if the combination of Clopidogrel 75mg once daily (od) plus aspirin at 100mg daily (recommended dose) is as effective as oral anticoagulation therapy with a lower risk of bleeding in patients with atrial fibrillation associated with at least one major cardiovascular risk factor.Primary objectives :The combination of clopidogrel plus aspirin compared to adjusted dose (INR between 2.0 and 3.3) oral anticoagulation (a vitamin K antagonist) will result in the same risk of the composite outcome of stroke, non-CNS systemic embolism, myocardial infarction or vascular death in patients with atrial fibrillation. The secondary objective is to establish whether or not aspirin plus clopidogrel has a lower risk of hemorrhage than standard anticoagulation therapy.

NCT ID: NCT00242541 Terminated - Acromegaly Clinical Trials

Study Assessing the Efficacy and Safety of Octreotide Acetate in Patients With Acromegaly, With Micro or Macroadenomas

Start date: March 2003
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of octreotide acetate to decrease GH and IGF-I levels in acromegalic patients, with microadenomas (≤ 10 mm) or macroadenomas (> 10 mm).

NCT ID: NCT00239681 Terminated - Clinical trials for Elevated High-sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hsCRP)

JUPITER - Crestor 20mg Versus Placebo in Prevention of Cardiovascular (CV) Events

Start date: February 2003
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of long-term therapy with rosuvastatin compared with a placebo, and to evaluate whether treatment with rosuvastatin might be effective in reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events.

NCT ID: NCT00226330 Terminated - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

GALLEX 6: Study to Evaluate the Safety and Tolerability of Tesaglitazar in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Start date: March 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a parallel-group, multi-center, long-term extension study from the GALLANT 6 study to monitor the safety and tolerability of oral tesaglitazar compared with pioglitazone in patients with type 2 diabetes for up to 104 weeks of treatment. The total duration, including treatment and follow-up, is 107 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT00214565 Terminated - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

GALLANT 6 Tesaglitazar vs. Pioglitazone

Start date: August 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a 24-week randomized, double-blind, multi-center, active-controlled (pioglitazone) study of tesaglitazar (0.5 mg and 1 mg) in patients with type 2 diabetes, not adequately controlled on diet and lifestyle advice alone during the run-in period. The study comprises a 3-week enrollment period, 6 week placebo single blind run in period followed by a 24-week double blind treatment period and a 3-week follow-up period.

NCT ID: NCT00206089 Terminated - Thromboembolism Clinical Trials

Melagatran/Ximelagatran Versus Enoxaparin for the Prevention of Venous Thromboembolic Events

EXTEND
Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study is being carried out to study the efficacy and safety of treatment with melagatran injection followed by ximelagatran tablets in preventing blood clots, compared with enoxaparin for a period of 5-6 weeks. A separate visit, independent from the study will be done approximately 6 months after the surgery.

NCT ID: NCT00168792 Terminated - Clinical trials for Myocardial Infarction

A Trial Evaluating the Efficacy and Safety of Tenecteplase Together With Unfractionated Heparin Prior to Early Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) as Compared to Standard Primary PCI in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction (ASSENT 4 PCI)

Start date: November 2003
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

To show whether addition of thrombolytic treatment by a single bolus injection of tenecteplase prior to early standard PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) will improve the clinical outcome in patients with large acute myocardial infarcts as compared to primary PCI alone.

NCT ID: NCT00144105 Terminated - HIV Infections Clinical Trials

A Randomised Trial to Evaluate the Antiviral Efficacy and Safety of Treatment With 500 mg Tipranavir (TPV) Plus 100 mg or 200 mg Ritonavir (RTV) p.o. BID in Comparison to 400 mg Lopinavir (LPV) Plus 100 mg RTV p.o. BID in Combination With Standard Background Regimen in ARV Therapy naïve Patients.

Start date: February 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Evaluation of safety and efficacy of Tipranavir (TPV) boosted with Ritonavir (RTV) versus an active control arm (Lopinavir / RTV) in antiretroviral (ARV) therapy naïve HIV-1 infected patients

NCT ID: NCT00137046 Terminated - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 1

Efficacy and Safety of Inhaled Insulin Compared With Subcutaneous Human Insulin Therapy in Adults With Type 1 Diabetes

Start date: May 2002
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study is being done to find out the good and bad effects of a drug that is not approved for sale and the effects if any on measures of pulmonary function in adult males and females with type 1 diabetes mellitus. The drug is called EXUBERA (inhaled insulin). This study included a 2-year comparative treatment period followed by a 6-month follow-up period during which inhaled insulin-treated subjects were switched back to subcutaneous short-acting insulin. After this follow-up period, all eligible subjects entered a comparative extension period that was to last for 5 years. When the comparative portion of the study was terminated, all subjects were requested to return for a final extension follow-up month 3 visit.

NCT ID: NCT00134628 Terminated - Radiation Injuries Clinical Trials

Study to Determine if Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is Helpful for Treating Radiation Tissue Injuries

Start date: January 2001
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The principle objective of this research is to more precisely determine the degree of benefit that hyperbaric oxygen therapy affords in the treatment of late radiation tissue injury. The study has eight* components. Seven involve the evaluation of established radionecrosis at varying anatomic sites (mandible, larynx, skin, bladder, rectum, colon, and gyn). The eighth will investigate the potential of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy to prophylax against late radiation tissue injury. *(One of the arms, HORTIS IV - Proctitis has been closed to further patient recruitment. This decision was based on an interim statistical analysis which generated sufficient evidence to support closing down this arm of HORTIS.)
