There are about 5012 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Mexico. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study is open to adults aged 18 years and older with bronchiectasis. People can join the study if they were previously enrolled in another study with BI 1291583 (1397-0012: Airleafᵀᴹ). The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called BI 1291583 helps people with bronchiectasis, an inflammatory lung condition. The investigators also want to know how well people with this condition can tolerate BI 1291583 in the long term. Participants take a low, medium, or high dose of BI 1291583 as a tablet once a day for up to 1 year. Participants who were taking placebo in the Airleafᵀᴹ study are put into the BI 1291583 dosage groups randomly, which means by chance. Placebo tablets look like BI 1291583 but do not contain any medicine. Participants who were taking BI 1291583 in the Airleafᵀᴹ study continue to take the same dose. Participants visit the study site 9 times and get 4 phone calls from the site staff. During the visits, the doctors collect information on any health problems of the participants. The doctors also check whether BI 1291583 helps reduce the symptoms of bronchiectasis.
Weight loss surgery, also known as bariatric surgery, has been around since the 1950s and since its inception has been shown to successfully achieve significant and sustainable weight loss in a large number of patients who undergo this intervention, as well , if a beneficial impact is observed in the management of metabolic disorders, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia. After bariatric surgery, patients are at risk of narcotic-related side effects.(2) Because of this, pain management strategies must be implemented to reduce the consumption of narcotic medications. Some studies have reported that a multimodal analgesic regimen can reduce the consumption of postoperative narcotics, as well as the therapy requirements to control postoperative nausea and vomiting. It has also been reported that excess body mass is associated with changes in mineral levels in the body, particularly hypomagnesemia , a condition that is also common in hospitalized patients (Hansen & Bruserud 2018), and has a high incidence in the perioperative environment. Magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) has multiple desirable effects in an anesthetic procedure. It is an antagonist of the N-methyl-d-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptor, which is why it produces an analgesic effect related to the prevention of central sensitization caused by peripheral tissue injury. In addition, other relevant clinical effects of MgSO4 have been reported in anesthesiology, such as its effect as a CNS depressant, modulation of the hemodynamic response, reduction of the intraoperative requirements of anesthetics, analgesics, and muscle relaxants. As well as the potentiation of the effect of non-depolarizing muscle relaxants. The role of magnesium in the body and its pharmacological properties continue to be studied and knowledge of its pharmacological, clinical and physiological characteristics has become essential for the anesthesiologist. There are no previous studies that allow establishing an optimal therapeutic scheme considering all the perioperative clinical effects of MgSO4 and that evaluate the role of genetic variability in pain perception and response to treatment in bariatric surgery.
The appearance of facial wrinkles, lines, or folds is a natural phenomenon during aging. Different scales help classify wrinkles objectively, such as the Facial Wrinkle Scale. Others help classify patients' subjective perspectives, like the Face-Q questionnaire. The application of Botulinum Toxin is the most performed non-surgical aesthetic procedure in the world to treat facial expression lines. The present study aims to compare the efficacy of onabotulinum toxin-A (BOTOX®) and prabotulinum toxin-A (NABOTA®) to treat expression lines in the upper third of the face, based on objective and subjective follow-up, using the FWS scale and FACE-Q questionnaire, respectively.
The goal of this clinical study is to see if sacituzumab govitecan-hziy (SG) can improve life spans of people with HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer and their tumor does not grow or spread when compared to currently available standard treatments, such as paclitaxel, nab-paclitaxel or capecitabine. The primary objective is to compare the effect of SG relative to the treatment of physician's choice (TPC) on progression-free survival (PFS).
This is dose-finding study of GSK3858279 in participants with moderate to severe knee osteoarthritis (OA) pain. The purpose of this study is to investigate and provide the data necessary to select the optimal effective and safe dose(s) of GSK3858279.
Both in Mexico and in the world, breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women. It is estimated that in 2020, 28.2% of the new cancer cases reported in our country correspond to breast cancer, which translates to 30,000 new cases. In addition, it is relevant to mention that approximately 12% of Mexican patients are diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer and it is estimated that 20-30% of women with early stage cancer will have a distant recurrence of the disease. Thus, about 40% of patients will find themselves in a metastatic stage at some point in their breast cancer journey. Various studies, including Mexico, report that only half of patients with metastatic breast cancer are aware that their disease is not curable, 31% say they are not sure, and 17% think it is curable. Likewise, 58% considered that they did not have enough knowledge to actively participate in conversations about their therapeutic options, which means that 40% reported difficulty talking about treatments with their doctors. This has shown that there are suboptimal levels of knowledge information on curability, treatment objectives and prognosis of their condition in patients with metastatic breast cancer. This lack of understanding is alarming given that a general understanding of the disease is crucial for informed decision making and adherence to cancer treatment. Due to these alarming results, we seek to recruit women ≥18 years of age who are candidates to start first- or second-line treatment for de novo or recurrent metastatic breast cancer from various hospital centers in the country with public and private coverage, including Hospital Zambrano Hellion TecSalud as coordinating center in Nuevo León. The objective will be to evaluate whether a systematized communication model for patients with metastatic breast cancer allows increasing knowledge about the non-curative nature of treatment, compared to usual care.
The diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer (BC) can drastically affect the quality of life of patients with this disease by causing symptoms of vasomotor disorders, insomnia, depression and anxiety. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a program dedicated to fostering complete awareness in the present in order to accept the moment, thereby reducing stress. Previous studies have shown that MBSR benefits patients with chronic conditions such as mood disorders and chronic pain, as well as patients with BC. However, its usefulness in Mexican patients has not been previously studied.
The aim of the study is to investigate whether an intradialytic exercise program can improve the quality of life, sexual function, and sexual satisfaction in patients undergoing hemodialysis.
A Study to evaluate the PK, PD, efficacy, and safety of Anifrolumab in children with moderate to severe active SLE
The objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of an online psychological care program to reduce anxiety, depression and negative psychological consequences and to increase a sense of coherence in the process of diagnostic evaluation and/or screening of mammary glands in women who attend a breast clinic. There will be an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group will receive the psychological intervention through a virtual platform and the control group will be given visual material with the information. This platform will be designed based on the principles of user experience (UX).
