A Research Study to See How Well the New Weekly Medicine IcoSema, Which is a Combination of Insulin Icodec and Semaglutide, Controls Blood Sugar Level in People With Type 2 Diabetes Compared to Weekly Insulin Icodec

This study will compare the new medicine IcoSema, which is a combination of insulin icodec and semaglutide, taken once a week, to insulin icodec taken once a week in people with type 2 diabetes. The study will look at how well IcoSema controls blood sugar level in people with type 2 diabetes compared to insulin icodec. Participants will either get IcoSema or insulin icodec. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. IcoSema and insulin icodec are both new medicines that doctors cannot prescribe. Participants will get IcoSema or insulin icodec, which participants must inject once a week with a pen, which has a small needle, in a skin fold in the thigh, upper arm, or stomach. The study will last for about 1 year and 1 month. Participants will have 21 clinic visits, 31 phone/video calls with the study doctor, and 4 contacts with the site that can either be clinic visits or phone/video calls At 11 clinic visits participants will have blood samples taken. At 7 clinic visits participants cannot eat or drink (except for water) for 8 hours before the visit. Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to get pregnant during the study period. Not applicable for China: Participants will be asked to wear a sensor that measures their blood sugar level all the time during a 5 week period at the end of the study.

Recently, an increase in the prevalence of hyperparathyroidism and hypovitaminosis D in postmenopause women has been occurring in Mexico and the world. Chronic exposure to the parathyroid hormone (PTH) is catabolic for the bone, worsening the state of osteoporosis. However, it is unclear whether these conditions could significantly improve bone mineral density (BMD). In the present work, it was shown that the resolution of hyperparathyroidism in postmenopausal women improves osteoporosis.

Antiresorptive Effect of Treatment With Risedronate and Vitamin D in Postmenopausal Patients

Osteoporosis is defined as a systemic disease of bone mineralization, characterized by a decrease in bone mineral density that causes bone fragility and increases the risk of fractures during menopause. Recently, a high prevalence of hypovitaminosis D has been found worldwide, which could trigger a state of secondary hyperparathyroidism that can worsen the state of postmenopausal patients with osteoporosis. An open-label, clinical trial was conducted in Mexican women with postmenopausal osteopenia-osteoporosis to determine the efficacy of the combined treatment with risedronate and high-dose vitamin D in improving bone mineral density, hyperparathyroidism, and hypovitaminosis D.

Efficacy and Safety of ICS/LABA vs. LAMA/LABA in Patients With Different COPD Phenotypes.

This is a randomized, blinded, controlled clinical trial for mexican COPD patients. Biomass smoke associated COPD (BS-COPD) clinical spectrum is different to the one seen in tobacco smoke associated COPD (TS-COPD). BS-COPD patients present COPD-asthma phenotype or asthma-COPD overlap syndrome (ACOS), TS-COPD patients present mostly the emphysema phenotype. BS-COPD patients have a greater risk of exacerbations in comparison to the emphysema phenotype. Therefore, individualizing treatment in both phenotypes may be very useful among the clinical practitioners. The investigators expect treatment with FF/V to be superior in preventing COPD exacerbations than the U/V combination in patients with COPD-asthma phenotype; andU/V to be superior than FF/V in patients with the emphysema phenotype. The general objective of the study is to determine the exacerbations outcome in patients with COPD-asthma vs emphysema phenotype patients, treated with both drugs. Secondary objectives include assessment of pulmonary function tests, quality of life, dyspnea and functional capacity change after a 24 weeks treatment.

Telerehabilitation in Distal Radius Fracture

Objective: To determine the effectiveness of telerehabilitation versus supervised therapy in the functional recovery of patients with distal radius fracture. Design: A randomized, controlled, parallel-treatment trial protocol was performed to compare functional recovery after a telerehabilitation program vs supervised rehabilitation in patients with distal radius fracture. Setting: Participants: A total of 91 patients with distal radius fractures grades AO23 A and B. Interventions: the supervised rehabilitation group received for two weeks a 10-session program that included external heat application, stretching, mobilization, strengthening, and occupational therapy. The telerehabilitation group was given instructions to apply hydrotherapy, perform mobility and wrist and hand strengthening exercises for four weeks, using the Moodle application on their cell phone. Main outcomes measures: Outcome measures were measured at the time of admission to rehabilitation and 1, 3, and 6 months; at each follow-up visit, functionality, active range of motion, fist grip strength, quality of life and pain were measured. Results: When the results obtained at the beginning and at six months were compared, both groups presented statistically significant changes in the clinical variables analyzed but with greater functionality in the telerehabilitation group.

Still, the combination of endoscopic variceal ligation and terlipressin-like treatment decreases the risks of rebleeding and mortality. This therapy with terlipressin usually was used for 72 hours. However, there are some studies demostrating that using terlipressin for 24 hours could control variceal bleeding with fewer side effects.

A Research Study Looking at How Oral Semaglutide Works in People With Type 2 Diabetes in Mexico, as Part of Local Clinical Practice

The purpose of the study is to collect information on how Rybelsus® works in people with type 2 diabetes and to see if Rybelsus® can lower participant's blood sugar levels. Participants will get Rybelsus® as prescribed by the study doctor. The study will last for about 8-10 months. Participant will be asked to complete a questionnaire about how the participant will take Rybelsus® tablets. Participant will complete this questionnaire during the normally scheduled visit with the study doctor. Participant will be asked to complete some questionnaires about diabetes treatment.
