NCT ID: NCT04103801 Completed - Pain, Acute Clinical Trials

Substance P as a Biomarker to Evaluate the Reduction of Multiple Immunization Pain

Start date: July 14, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Immunization is one of the most significant preventive health measures in reducing morbidity and mortality caused by infectious diseases. Studies have shown that Sucrose is recommended to reduce pain associated with vaccination in neonates. The main aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of sucrose in reducing infant's pain outcomes during immunization among 10-24 month-old infants and toddlers.

NCT ID: NCT04087954 Completed - Stigmatization Clinical Trials

Evaluation the Impact of Self-Stigma Reduction Program on Psychosocial Outcomes Among People Diagnosed With Schizophrenia

Start date: November 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Backgrounds: Research evidence suggests that people diagnosed with schizophrenia (PDwS) experience higher level of stigma compared with other forms of mental illness, and they are prone to internalize stereotype, which exacerbates severity of psychiatric symptoms, reduces their psychosocial treatment adherence. The purpose of the study to evaluate the effectiveness of stigma reduction program on the perceived stigma, psychiatric symptoms, compliance with psychosocial intervention and self-efficacy. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted from November 2017 to December 2018 with 278 PDwS. Participants aged 18 years or older with DSM-IV schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, from four outpatient mental health clinics in Jordan, were randomly assigned to receive 13 sessions of a booklet form of stigma reduction program (n = 140) (psycho-education, cognitive behavioural therapy and social skills training), and treatment as usual [TAU] (intervention, n = 140), or TAU (control, n = 138). Participants were assessed at baseline, immediately post-intervention (post-treatment1) and at six months follow-up. The primary outcome measure was change in stigma perception. Secondary outcomes were psychiatric symptoms, compliance with psychosocial interventions and self-efficacy.

NCT ID: NCT04081766 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 With Hypoglycemia

Pharmacist-Led Study in Controlling Hypoglycemia in Older Adults With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

ROSE-ADAM
Start date: February 9, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study involves two parts: a randomised controlled trial, and a nested qualitative study. The main aim of the trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of a pharmacist-led, medications-focused patient counselling on reducing the frequency of hypoglycaemia in older adults diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus within 12 weeks in Jordan. The study hypothesis is that individualised patient counselling which is provided by pharmacists and involves recommendations about anti-diabetic medications will reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia by preventing further episodes in the elderly Jordanians with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The qualitative study aims at evaluating the experience of participants in both groups with the study (process evaluation). This involves exploring which components are effective and which are not with the reasons, the contextual factors affecting the delivery and implementation of the study and the intervention, and how the study and the intervention can be scaled up in the future.

NCT ID: NCT04007497 Completed - Clinical trials for Upper Extremity Defects

Reconstruction of Hand and Upper Extremities Defects by Thin Random Pedicle Abdominal Flaps, Still a Valid Option in Developing Countries: A Cross Sectional Study

Start date: July 25, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Traumatic defects of the soft tissues of the hand and upper extremities are common and may be challenging to the reconstructive surgeon. Several reconstructive procedures have been described to manage these defects, including local, regional, distant, and free flaps. The aim of this study is to report the techniques, outcomes, and complications of pedicle abdominal flaps in reconstructing hand and upper extremity defects. We included patients with different traumatic defects in the hand and upper extremities who underwent reconstruction by random pedicle abdominal flaps between 2002 and 2017. Data was collected and analyzed, variables studied included; patient age and sex, etiology and size of the defect, complications, outcomes, and the need for further revision procedures. Potential factors affecting flap survival were examined using appropriate statistical analysis.

NCT ID: NCT03928106 Completed - Safety Issues Clinical Trials

Impact of Pharmacists Directed Medication Reconciliation on Reducing Medication Discrepancies in a Surgery Ward

Start date: April 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Several previous studies have investigated the impact of a pharmacists-provided medication reconciliation service on medication discrepancies in the hospital settings Results showed that pharmacists were able to identify a range of 1.5-2.3 unintentional discrepancies per patient, leading to a significant reduction of 40-75% of the total identified medication discrepancies. No previous study has investigated the outcomes of involving the clinical pharmacist in a medication reconciliation service in in Jordan. Acknowledging the importance of evaluating the value of medication reconciliation services in the different healthcare settings, this study is designed with the aim to evaluate the effect of pharmacists directed services (reconciliation plus counseling) on reducing medication discrepancies and improving patient's outcomes at discharge.
