There are about 4372 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Greece. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This open-label, randomized, multicenter study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab (Avastin) in combination with standard of care (SOC) treatment in participants with advanced non-squamous NSCLC. Participants will be enrolled at documentation of progression of disease (PD) after 4-6 cycles of first-line treatment with bevacizumab plus a platinum doublet-containing therapy and a minimum of two cycles of bevacizumab maintenance treatment prior to PD. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two treatment arms to receive either bevacizumab plus SOC treatment or SOC treatment alone.
This randomised, open-label, phase III study will be performed in patients with R/M head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) who have progressed after platinum-based therapy. The objectives of the trial are to compare the efficacy and safety of afatinib versus methotrexate
The purpose of this study is to determine if denosumab is non-inferior to zoledronic acid in the treatment of bone disease from multiple myeloma.
This observational study will assess factors leading to dose reductions/treatment discontinuations and the effect on sustained virological response in patients with chronic hepatitis C receiving a long-acting interferon (e.g. Pegasys/peginterferon alfa-2a) and ribavirin. Data will be collected from each patient for the duration of their treatment and for up to 6 months thereafter.
- Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGBP) is considered a combination of restriction-malabsorption procedure and one of the most common operative procedures implemented. - Over the last years increasing evidence suggests that the beneficial effects of bariatric operations might be related to the suppression of appetite caused by the release of the anorectic gut hormones such as peptide-YY (PYY) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1)by the L cells of the distal gut and the suppression of the orexigenic hormone ghrelin released by the stomach.Obese people have a blunted rise in PYY and GLP-1 after a meal, possibly resulting in impaired satiety and hence greater food intake. - In the present study the investigators sought to evaluate the effects of the resection of the gastric fundus, the main source of ghrelin production, on the secretion of ghrelin, PYY, GLP-1 and insulin and in addition on glucose levels, appetite and weight loss, in morbidly obese patients undergoing laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
This is a single-center, randomized, single-blind, investigator-initiated, pharmacological study with a parallel design. Patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention and presenting high platelet reactivity as assessed with the Verify Now P2Y12 assay-Accumetrics(Platelet Reactivity Units -PRU≥235) at 2 hours post-clopidogrel 600mg LD (Day 0), as assessed with the Verify Now P2Y12 assay, will be randomized after informed consent, in a 1:1 ratio to the following treatment groups: Group Α: Clopidogrel 150mg per day, starting from Day 1 until Day 5 (5 days after randomization) Group Β: Prasugrel 60 mg immediate loading (on Day 0) followed by 10mg/day starting from Day 1 until Day 5 (5 days after randomization). Platelet reactivity assessment will be performed 2 hours after randomization (Day 0), 24 h after randomization (Day 1) and on Day 5. Documentation of major adverse cardiac events (death, myocardial infarction, stroke, revascularization procedure with PCI or CABG)and serious adverse events (bleeding, other adverse events)will be performed until Day 5.
Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic disease of unknown cause that results in scarring of the lung and there is a high unmet medical need for effective treatment to halt lung function decline, delay or avoid exacerbation (flare-ups), and ultimately to reduce the death rate. In a large Phase 2 trial (1199.30) (NCT00514683), investigating the effects of 52 weeks of treatment with BIBF 1120 in patients with IPF, a positive effect was seen on lung function of patients treated with high dose of BIBF 1120 compared to placebo. Hence it is the purpose of this trial to investigate and confirm the efficacy and safety of BIBF 1120 at a high dose in treating patients with IPF, compared with placebo. The trial will be conducted as a prospective, randomised design with the aim to collect safety and efficacy data. Respiratory function is globally accepted for assessment of treatment effects in IPF patients. The chosen endpoint (Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) decline) is easy to obtain and is part of the usual examinations done in IPF patients.
The purpose of the study is to determine whether the addition of Elotuzumab to Lenalidomide/low-dose Dexamethasone will increase the progression free survival (PFS)
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of peginterferon beta-1a (BIIB017) in participants originally treated in Study 105MS301 (NCT00906399) who continue peginterferon beta-1a treatment. The secondary objective of this study is to describe long-term multiple sclerosis (MS) outcomes in participants originally treated in Study 105MS301 (NCT00906399) who continue peginterferon beta-1a treatment.
This randomized, open-label, parallel-group, multicenter study will evaluate the rate of cardiovascular events with tocilizumab in comparison to etanercept in participants with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Participants will be randomized to receive intravenous (IV) 8 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) tocilizumab every 4 weeks or subcutaneous 50 milligrams (mg) etanercept weekly, with or without non-biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD).
