There are about 3961 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Finland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of laparoscopically inserted transversus abdominis plane block (LTAP) in comparison to local wound analgesia in laparoscopic surgery due to suspected or diagnosed peritoneal endometriosis.
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety, reactogenicity, immunogenicity and long-term persistence of immune response up to 3 years following a single dose vaccination of GSK's investigational vaccine RSVPreF3 OA, in adults aged 60 years and above. The study will also evaluate the immunogenicity, safety and reactogenicity of additional vaccine doses given according to different revaccination schedules.
Thromboprophylaxis for liver surgery can be commenced either preoperatively or postoperatively. Despite a clear trade-off between thrombosis and bleeding in liver surgery patients, there is no international consensus when thrombosis prophylaxis should be commenced in patients undergoing liver surgery. As far as we know, there are no prospective randomized trials in this field, and current guidelines are unfortunately based on very low quality evidence, that is, a few retrospective studies and expert opinion. Both American and European thromboprophylaxis guidelines for abdominal cancer surgery support the preoperative initiation of thromboprophylaxis, but these guidelines do not specifically address the increased bleeding risk associated with liver surgery. On the contrary, Dutch guidelines recommend postoperative thromboprophylaxis only, because of lack of evidence for preoperative thromboprophylaxis. Traditionally, many liver surgery units have been reluctant in using preoperative thromboprophylaxis due to the potentially increased risk of bleeding complications. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Society Guidelines recommend preoperative thromboprophylaxis in liver surgery, but the guidelines provide no supporting evidence for this recommendation. Overall, the amount of evidence is scarce and somewhat contradictory in this clinically relevant field of thromboprophylaxis in liver surgery. The aim of this study is to compare pre- and postoperatively initiated thromboprophylaxis regimens in liver surgery in a randomized controlled trial.
This study investigates the possible adverse effects and effectiveness of convalescent plasma for patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. Following provision of informed consent, patients will be randomized into three groups: High-titre convalescent plasma, low-titre convalescent plasma or placebo. Primary outcomes of the study will cover safety and either intubation or initiation of systemic corticosteroids. Safety information collected will include serious adverse events judged to be related to administration of convalescent plasma. Microbiological and other laboratory parameters will be followed up.
The objective of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of the combination of alpelisib and olaparib compared with single agent cytotoxic chemotherapy in patients with platinum resistant or refractory high-grade serous ovarian cancer, with no germline BRCA mutation detected.
A Study of the relation of COVID-19 infection and its severity to upper and lower airway nitric oxide, upper airway viral load and lung function.
To determine the accuracy and generalizability of VA-LRTI algorithm to detect and predict three high-incidence and high-impact VAEs from electronic health records data: 1) ventilator-associated event, 2) ventilator-associated pneumonia, and 3) ventilator-associated tracheobronchitis.
The main purpose of this study is to compare pembrolizumab/vibostolimab coformulation (MK-7684A) plus docetaxel or pembrolizumab/vibostolimab coformulation to normal saline placebo plus docetaxel. Participants with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and progressive disease (PD) after platinum doublet chemotherapy and treatment with one prior anti- programmed cell death 1 (PD-1)/ programmed cell death ligand 1(PD-L1) monoclonal antibody (mAb). MK-7684A is a coformulation product of pembrolizumab/vibostolimab. The dual primary hypotheses of the study are pembrolizumab/vibostolimab coformulation plus docetaxel and pembrolizumab/vibostolimab coformulation is superior to normal saline placebo plus docetaxel with respect to progression free survival (PFS) per Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors Version 1.1 (RECIST 1.1) by blinded independent central review (BICR).
The purpose of this study is to determine whether patients with operatively treated acetabular fractures benefit from early weight-bearing as tolerated. The study compares two groups ( n = 25 each), which are randomised into either weight-bearing as tolerated or touch-down weight-bearing for 6-8 weeks postoperatively. Both study groups are stratified according to - Type of fracture (anterior approach vs anterior + additional posterior approach) - Dislocated dome vs non-dislocated/ non existing separate dome fragment Patients, who are eligible to participate in the trial but choose not to participate in randomisation are asked to enrol in a prospective cohort follow-up cohort. This is to examine a potential participation bias in the RCT groups. These patients will not be counted into the target amount of 50 RCT patients.
The purpose of this trial is to generate clinical evidence on valve safety and performance of self-expanding (SE) versus balloon-expandable (BE) transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in subjects with a small aortic annulus and symptomatic severe native aortic stenosis. Additionally, a stress echocardiography sub-study will be conducted as part of the SMART Trial at select sites. The purpose of the sub-study is to evaluate performance of SE versus BE TAVR in subjects with a small aortic annulus and symptomatic severe native aortic stenosis after undergoing exercise stress echocardiographic testing.
