NCT ID: NCT01438879 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Central Nervous System Infection

Lymphocytic Herpesviruses and Cerebrospinal Fluid Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

Start date: October 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Enterovirus and herpes simplex viruses 1 and 2 are the main causative agents of central nervous system infections. Instead, the role of lymphocytic herpesviruses in the etiology of central nervous system (CNS) infections is not clear, even if there is the positive cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-result for the virus. The aim of this study is to evaluate the presence of DNA from lymphocytic herpesviruses in the CSF obtained from the immunocompetent patients with CSF pleocytosis and from the patients with normal CSF leukocyte count.

NCT ID: NCT01438736 Not yet recruiting - Bleeding Clinical Trials

Is Cerazette Use Before Nexplanon Insertion Predictive for Bleeding Pattern?

Start date: September 2011
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to examine how well three months preceding use of Cerazette progestin only pill predicts the bleeding pattern during following Nexplanon implant use.

NCT ID: NCT01286545 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Ankylosing Spondylitis

European Ankylosing Spondylitis Infliximab Cohort (EASIC) Follow up Registration Study

EASIC registry
Start date: February 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Long term data on efficacy and safety of anti-TNF treatment with infliximab in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) beyond 5 years is lacking. These data are important because patients with AS usually are younger and withdrawal of anti-TNF therapy in these patients almost always leads to a disease relapse. Furthermore it is still unclear whether long term anti-TNF treatment in AS patients can inhibit radiographic progression. Patients who participated in the EASIC and the DIKAS trial respectively who were treated with infliximab within these studies for 7 and 10 years respectively are followed up by using clinical outcome parameters every 6 months assessing efficacy and safety of long term treatment. Furthermore radiographs of the spine, if done for clinical indication, are analyzed. It is hypothesized that anti-TNF treatment with infliximab is effective and safe over a time period of 9 and 12 years respectively and that long term anti-TNF therapy may inhibit radiographic progression of the spine.

NCT ID: NCT01184313 Not yet recruiting - Lung Injury Clinical Trials

Acute Lung Injury After Aortic Valve Surgery

Start date: September 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this prospective, randomized clinical trial is to understand and measure lung injuries caused by CPB in aortic valve surgery. Study questions: - Is there any correlation between the release of pro-inflammatory biomarkers and lung injury degree? - Is there any correlation between oxyhaemodynamic parameters and lung injury degree? - Is there any correlation between oxyhaemodynamic parameters and the release of pro-inflammatory biomarkers? - Are budesonide, erdostein and acetylcystein effective in the prevention of lung injuries?

NCT ID: NCT00756535 Not yet recruiting - Frail Elderly Clinical Trials

Exercise Training in a Geriatric Hospital Ward

Start date: October 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the study is to describe the effects of physical exercise consisting of strength, balance and flexibility training on functional abilities and the length of stay in older (+75) patients hospitalized in a primary-care health- center hospital.

NCT ID: NCT00733083 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Post Tonsillectomy Pain

A Comparative Study With Parenteral Oxycodone, Morphine and Dexamethasone in Postoperative Pain in Paediatric Patients

DOM
Start date: September 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this randomized, double-blind study is to compare parenteral pre-emptive oxycodone, morphine and dexamethasone with placebo in the treatment of postoperative pain in paediatric patients 4 to 12 years of age. The investigators hope to find out whether there are any differences in postoperative pain and/or adverse effects among these groups.

NCT ID: NCT00545961 Not yet recruiting - Sinusitis Clinical Trials

Middle Meatal Bacteriology During Acute Respiratory Infection in Children

Start date: November 2007
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to find out whether the children with respiratory infection and the presence of pathogenic bacteria (S. pneumoniae, H. influenzae or M. catarrhalis) in the nasal middle meatus benefit from antimicrobial treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00258141 Not yet recruiting - Allergy Clinical Trials

Study With Rupatadine in Mosquito-Bite Allergic Adult Subjects

Start date: n/a
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The study will find out how effective rupatadine is in the treatment of mosquito bite symptoms in adult patients allergic to mosquito bites.
