There are about 25560 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Germany. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The primary objective of this study is to investigate the effect of 4-week treatment with 7.5 mg b.i.d, 15 mg q.d and 15 mg b.i.d. BIBW 2948 BS and placebo on cough and sputum as determined by the CASA-Q (Cough and Sputum Assessment Questionnaire
In patients with cholangiocarcinoma therapeutic effects have been reported for Gemcitabine/Oxaliplatin. Furthermore, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has significantly improved patients survival in two randomised trials. PDT induces tumor necrosis only in an area of few millimetres, while tumor parts which are located beyond this area remain untreated. An additive effect could result from PDT as a local therapy in combination with systemic chemotherapy.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of Nebido compared to placebo in elderly men aged 50 and over with symptomatic late onset hypogonadism
This study examines the effect of telbivudine compared to lamivudine on the early viral kinetics in patients with chronic hepatitis B. The virus Kinetics is measured by the viral load (HBV-DNA) reduction in the serum during the first 12 weeks of therapy.
Recently literature revealed facts, that show H+/K+ ATPase expression is not limited tot he stomach. H+/K+ ATPase was also found in smooth muscle cells and in other tissues (McCabe, R.D. et al., Am J Physiol. 1992). For myocard a localisation is only proven for rats yet (Beisvag, V. et al., Acta Physiol Scand. 2003). Moreover biochemical hints lead us to a highly probability of a myocardial H+/K+ ATPase (Nagashima, R. et al., Jpn Heart J. 1999).
This study will compare recurrence rates in patients with colorectal cancer who will be randomly assigned to epidural anesthesia/analgesia combined with general anesthesia or to general anesthesia followed by opioid analgesia.
Prospective, longitudinal multi-center study performed in 15 participating substitution centers in Germany. Aims: - Primary objective: To compare the impact of the different substitution drugs (methadone, buprenorphine, and suboxone) on the neurocognitive, emotional, and quality-of-life-related tolerability in opioid dependent patients under HCV treatment. - Secondary objective: To investigate if IFN therapy impairs efficacy (with respect to e.g. retention rates, concomitant drug use and in particular neurocognitive function) and tolerability of agonist maintenance treatment with methadone, buprenorphine, or suboxone
The study aims to investigate whether the administration of the stimulant modafinil during a 40 hour sleep deprivation period in depressed patients can intensify the antidepressant effect of the sleep deprivation as assessed by a reduction in the Hamilton Depression score (HAMD, 6-item version). We postulate that this also correlates with a reduction of the polysomnographically assessed overall amount of sleep during this period.
In-Stent-Thrombosis is a rare but serious complication after implantation of stents during PTCA.
Evaluation of efficacy by determination of transfusion requirements and safety by determination of adverse events in administration of Von Willebrand factor concentrate F VIII (Haemate).
