There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
In this study, the investigators are testing a new formulation of lidocaine for its suitability in managing postoperative pain after pelvic (circumcision, inguinal, scrotal), perineal (hemorrhoidectomy) or perianal (fistulotomy) incisions. The new formulation ST-01 is a sustained release lidocaine formulation and is expected to provide pain relief over multiple days. Currently, the drug lidocaine is not available as an injectable slow-release formulation.
Research has shown that early palliative care in cancer care is associated with improved symptom management, better prognostic understanding, improved quality of life for patients and family caregivers, and even improved survival. Yet, in spite of the proven benefits of integration of palliative care in oncology, it has been well established that patients with hematologic malignancies and those undergoing cellular therapy (hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy) do not routinely receive palliative care. Most of the published research on the early integration of palliative care in oncology describes studies that have involved patients with solid tumours. To date, only one randomized trial examining the impact of integrated palliative care among patients undergoing HSCT has been published and there have been no studies examining the impact of integrated palliative care for patients undergoing CAR T-cell therapy. The American Society of Clinical Oncology recommends early palliative care for patients with advanced cancers or for those with high symptom burden. Patients with blood cancers experience high symptom burden and in the last 30 days of life, compared to patients with solid tumours, patients with blood cancers are more likely to die in hospital, have more intensive care unit admissions, have prolonged hospitalizations (>14 days), and pass away in an acute care facility. There is an urgent need to proactively address suffering throughout cellular therapy trajectories, even before treatment starts, so that patients and caregivers are not inevitably waiting for symptoms to arise before they can be addressed and to optimize quality of life for patients undergoing transplant as well as their family caregivers. PALS_CT will compare early palliative care to standard care for patients and their family caregivers undergoing HSCT or CAR T-cell therapy for blood cancers.
Participants will be asked to wear a continuous glucose monitor for at least three days on three separate occasions. One testing session will be a no-exercise resting control session (90 minutes). One will be a moderate aerobic exercise session (30 minutes of exercise, 60 minutes of recovery), and the third will be a moderate weight-lifting session (~30 minutes of exercise, 60 minutes of recovery).The investigators will measure changes in blood glucose during exercise by drawing blood during and after exercise. Post-exercise glucose trends will be examined using continuous glucose monitoring.
Female participants with type 1 diabetes using oral contraceptives will be asked to wear a continuous glucose monitor for at least three days on two separate occasions (once during the last week of active pills and once during the no pill/placebo pill phase of the menstrual cycle). An exercise session (45 minutes of aerobic exercise at 60% VO2peak on a cycle ergometer) will take place at 5 pm on the second day of glucose monitoring.

This is a multi-part, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2 clinical study comparing the safety and efficacy of bezuclastinib (CGT9486) plus best supportive care (BSC) with placebo plus BSC in patients with nonadvanced systemic mastocytosis (NonAdvSM), including indolent systemic mastocytosis and smoldering systemic mastocytosis, whose symptoms are not adequately controlled by BSC. This study will be conducted in three parts. Patients in Parts 1a, 1b and 2 will receive bezuclastinib or placebo, and may roll over onto Part 3 to receive treatment with bezuclastinib.
Implementation of an evidence-based and best practices acute RRT pathway aiming to decrease acute RRT program and healthcare systems costs while improving important patient-reported outcomes.
Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS®) pathways have been shown to considerably reduce complications, length of stay and costs after most of surgical procedures by standardised application of best evidence-based perioperative care. Recently an international panel of expert have succeeded to elaborate dedicated recommendations for cytoreductive surgery (CRS) ± hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in a two-part series of guidelines based on expert consensus (Hübner et al., EJSO, 2020). The aim of this prospective validation study was therefore to study acceptance, feasibility and clinical results of these guidelines in clinical practice. Hypothesis of the study: Introduction of ERAS® guidelines is feasible and safe. Increasing compliance with ERAS® guidelines (after implementation) will improve recovery and early clinical outcomes of patients undergoing CRS/HIPEC.
This large real-world international prospective registry will provide a unique opportunity to comprehensively understand the contemporary management, clinical course and short as well as long-term outcomes of all Cardiogenic Shock (CS) patients cared for at four high volume dedicated shock care centers. As the first true North American multicenter CS collaborative with a uniform dedicated and comprehensive case report form, the high patient volumes and wide spectrum of clinical acuity seen at these institutions will provide valuable insight into the factors associated with adverse outcomes; and will serve as a blueprint for future clinical trial designs that may better inform clinical practice.
