Filter by:The Investigators plan a single center study to get preliminary data to answer a number of fundamental questions directly related to management of COPD. The research will determine whether ventilation heterogeneity and distribution of ventilation inform, determine, assist or drive the: 1) status or clinical course in patients with COPD, 2) understanding of factors associated with activities of daily living and quality of life in patients , 3) risk of exacerbation or hospitalization in those with COPD, and 4) predictors of therapeutic pathway or treatment regime.
Patients with COPD that a pulmonologist classifies between Stage 1-2 in accordance with the GOLD criteria and age and gender-matched healthy individuals will be included in the study. In both groups (n = COPD: 17, Healthy: 17), aerobic exercise (AE) in the target heart rate range of 50% intensity, performed by cycling accompanied by blood flow restriction, will be applied.
Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) classified by a pulmonologist in accordance with the GOLD criteria will be randomly divided into 2 groups. The first group (n = 20) was accompanied by blood flow restriction (CAC), 3 times a week, 8 weeks, 1RMx 30% intensity, 10 repetitions, 3 sets, 30 seconds rest interval, progressive resistance exercise (PRE) and after 5 minutes of rest by cycling. Progressive aerobic exercise (AE) (BFR PRE + AE group) in the target heart rate range of 50-80% intensity will be applied to the second group (n = 20), PRE and AE (PRE + AE group) performed at the same intensity and duration without BFR.
COVID-19 Viral Global Pandemic resulting in post-infection pulmonary damage, including Fibrotic Lung Disease due to inflammatory and reactive protein secretions damaging pulmonary alveolar structure and functionality. A short review includes: - Early December, 2019 - A pneumonia of unknown cause was detected in Wuhan, China, and was reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office. - January 30th, 2020 - The outbreak was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. - February 7th, 2020 - 34-year-old Ophthalmologist who first identified a SARS-like coronavirus) dies from the same virus. - February 11th, 2020 - WHO announces a name for the new coronavirus disease: COVID-19. - February 19th, 2020 - The U.S. has its first outbreak in a Seattle nursing home which were complicated with loss of lives.. - March 11th, 2020 - WHO declares the virus a pandemic and in less than three months, from the time when this virus was first detected, the virus has spread across the entire planet with cases identified in every country including Greenland. - March 21st, 2020 - Emerging Infectious Disease estimates the risk for death in Wuhan reached values as high as 12% in the epicenter of the epidemic and ≈1% in other, more mildly affected areas. The elevated death risk estimates are probably associated with a breakdown of the healthcare system, indicating that enhanced public health interventions, including social distancing and movement restrictions, should be implemented to bring the COVID-19 epidemic under control." March 21st 2020 -Much of the United States is currently under some form of self- or mandatory quarantine as testing abilities ramp up.. March 24th, 2020 - Hot spots are evolving and identified, particularly in the areas of New York-New Jersey, Washington, and California. Immediate attention is turned to testing, diagnosis, epidemiological containment, clinical trials for drug testing started, and work on a long-term vaccine started. The recovering patients are presenting with mild to severe lung impairment as a result of the viral attack on the alveolar and lung tissues. Clinically significant impairment of pulmonary function appears to be a permanent finding as a direct result of the interstitial lung damage and inflammatory changes that accompanied. This Phase 0, first-in-kind for humans, is use of autologous, cellular stromal vascular fraction (cSVF) deployed intravenously to examine the anti-inflammatory and structural potential to improve the residual, permanent damaged alveolar tissues of the lungs.
APEX COPD is registry to provide a mechanism to standardize, store and utilize data to enable greater power to answer key research questions, and to improve patient outcomes in COPD primary care.
This study evaluates the influence of home air purification on the lung health of adults with eosinophilic COPD. Half of the participants will receive real air purifiers (HEPA filters) and half will receive sham air purifiers.
This study aims to establish the treatment scheme of Yiqi Huoxue Huatan granule for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with chronic respiratory failure (CRF), reducing mortality, improving quality of life and forming high quality evidence.
The aim of the present study is to examine whether the nature based 'Wild man Programme' can help to increase quality of life among men on sick leave compared to treatment as usual. Additionally, the study examines which natural environments best work as supportive environments in the rehabilitation.
This study seeks to examine genome-wide DNA methylation patterns associated with physical activity and exercise capacity from peripheral blood collected from participants with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) before and after participation in a structured 9-week outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation program.
The purpose of this research is to determine if Ibis™, a digital therapeutics solution developed by Senscio Systems, reduces the emergency room visits and hospitalizations of patients with COPD.
